Its real easy to say play the top level... The truth is most of the time the coaching is the weak spot keeping a team from playing AA. Unfortunately it often the coaching 2 years ago that stunts the mental side of the game, or fails to develop sufficient numbers of players to compete. How many times...

I would be interested to hear the MN made staff picks for top squirts statewide.....

Some would be the same, but a lot of heads are deep in the sand.....

This is really simple. The goal is to separate the top tier from the second tier. If a team with 9 kids from the top tier can't completely dominate a team with only 1 top tier player -the system failed. Either the top tier is overvalued or the lower tier is undervalued. Either way the evaluation was...

Hunting - Yes I did, See your problem is you are looking at the games as if they actually mean something where as being in a game and "outshooting" your opponent again means nothing. Players are graded individually and not on a team level. sorry but section 5 players fell short of the cut I don't h...

Not to mention out of state hockey, lacrosse, high level baseball, invite/elite hockey tournaments , going to the cabin, and competitive trap shooting.

Gentry draws from all over. Kids go to school at Gentry they can play at Gentry. FWIW I have known quite a few of them- they may have some b players, but I have never met one.

I have seen the Gradient AAA play, I would not class them as a B team. I don't know if they were all Gentry players though.

It says USA hockey. If they get a good turnout of Gentry kids I don't know who they will play locally. It might skim some skill off the top of MM.

There are kids that want to do nothing other than hockey. Their no hockey days are wishing they were playing hockey--with other kids with the same mindset. They are driven and when they meet a good coach magic happens. Unfortunately hockey has more than its share of corruption and that will cull off...

My take is: If your kid really wants to play and has no other options, take him, especially if you are from the outstate. I would rate the play at upper B level with a few A players and a Few AA players.

The scout thing, it does make the check easier to write for the parents.

A sprinkle of top talent, mostly mediocre and lower. It was disappointing. Not much teamwork. Often the teams struggled to bring enough players.

If goal scoring is the mark.....look at the d and goalies they have played against. Who in 3A can play 2 pair of strong D and has a strong goaltender? Go ahead and look up the goalie rankings on hockey hub.

That said the kid played well with the hand he was dealt

Its a pretty big accusation. After the second goal Luverne scored the players on the ice performed a celly near the spot Coach Stremcha was standing with his Redwood Players. This is when the bird was offered to the celebrating Cardinals. Full Disclosure: I didn't see it, but the Luverne coaching s...

There does need to be some system. The very first thing, in my opinion is to Define the levels- that way everyone knows the expectations. Such as: A level- heads up, hands, must be able to pass, understand positioning. Must be able to shoot. Balance, stopping capability----But smart enough to avoid ...

I have often thought the SL process was superior. Start-No check, after a couple of weeks parallel checks. Another couple weeks diagonal checks. With full checks the final step in the progression. The whole system works because it is skill based and not political or age based. Unfortunately the refs...

The problem is prior to the no-check sq hand were terrible. Now in SQ the hands have improved at the expense of heads-up hockey, in PW some kids have really developed hands and no passing skills.. Real heads up passing has disappeared in PW. "puck hits your stick you get tunnel vision until someone ...

I get it now....

Its not what your daughter can bring to a team...its what can a team bring to you daughter.

Let the other girls get pounded for a couple years because the strong players play somewhere else, then complain later when there is no depth.
