Re: Upset predictions for Thursday’s game

I like the Roseville over HM angle. If Jones plays to her potential and the Raiders can pop a few in early, Roseville could win.

Re: Section 4AA Final

Bottom line it was a great HS hockey game. We as fans are very lucky to have this caliber of hockey in our backyard and you can't ask for anything more. Coaching aside (Lechner is far superior) these kids left everything on the ice for a chance to play next weekend. Hats off to all these kids on the...

Re: The Horn

Doesn't the HS have any type of media/AV department? (for lack of a better term) This would be a great springboard and opportunity for the school to get kids involved in something like this. The kids would work the games and gain valuable experience. Zach is a great example of finding something you ...

Re: Lets Play Hockey - Ms. Hockey + Senior Goalie of the Year. Discuss.

Couldn't agree more! I've been watching Calla since U10's and what a treat to watch her play. Great goalie but even better human being. Calla has given back to these young girls in the White Bear Lake Hockey Association and been such a great role model, kudos to Calla! Mankato State is getting a goo...

Re: 2018-19 Season

I think this will be a great game as well. I'll take Forest Lake in a mild upset 4-2 with an empty netter. All in all should be a great test for both teams.

Re: Updated List of Minnesota Girls D1 and D3 Commitments

Are other D1 schools grabbing these young kids as well or is it mainly the U? It amazes me (i'm not sure why) these D1 schools are getting these kids to verbally commit this young. I get they are very talented but I just don't see the need. I'll be curious on a couple of things, now that they have v...

Re: Dynamo Premier Prep vs MGHCA Premier Prep

I don't know who won per se, but Premier looks pretty watered down and still looking for players to fill out the rosters.

Re: National festival roster

When is the team finalized? Are there many more cuts left to make? Watching a few of the games, they are a talented team I thought they controlled a lot of the play but couldn't finish and the special teams looked a bit mediocre at best.

Re: Dynamo Premier Prep vs MGHCA Premier Prep

In looking at the rosters and the age of some of these players, isn't a pre-requisite for players to have played at the Varsity level? Perhaps they all have but seems as if that may not be the case?

Any new news here in regards to Premier? Looks as if they are still looking for more skaters to fill out teams.

Re: U15's 2016-17

Did the U15 experiment work last year and do folks think this level will be more or less competitive than a year ago? Other than the top 4-6 teams there really weren't many "top" tier teams. Thoughts? Daughter played last year. I thought the league was good. There were 1-5 deep teams, ano...

A common thing I hear not only in this thread but in many others as well is, there are a lot of really good ideas that get thrown out but the common theme is MN hockey and the associations will never allow this to happen. Has anyone from a girls perspective ever really pushed the envelope so to spea...

What is the goal here? It should be to build a strong and competitive high school team. For most of our girls playing high school hockey is the crowning achievement. Playing with their friends and growing and developing as a team is what they are going to remember. . I agree about building a strong...

Are the number of girls playing squirts and pee-wees cutting into the girls numbers to make a difference? I assume it's some of the higher end kids playing with the boys and is it more "outstate" than in the metro due to overall numbers? Observer, I think you nailed it. Some of the associa...

The state of Girls hockey... is it bright?

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are around the "health" of girls hockey. More from a youth perspective. Are the youth pipelines filling back up? Creative recruiting ideas from associations? Will we see more co-op's moving forward?

The elite players in each or any association will almost universally not be able to stay at that elite level without a lot of time (and prob $) invested off hours and off season. They probably got to that elite level working at home or dryland or camps or AAA outside the association in the first pl...

"B" Team Tiering- is it a good thing?

I would like to get everyone's take on tiering of B teams, mainly at the U12 level. Is this a good thing? I'm not a fan of this at all. I understand there is a gap between the top few B players and the bottom few, but to me it doesn't make a lot of sense to load up 1 B team and leave the 2nd B team ...

100% agree Observer. Maybe a new thread should be started and share as to what some of the more successful associations have done as far as marketing and recruiting. Stats don't lie you say well then lets take a look at the numbers you used. Farmington is 31-1 outscoring their opponents 145-20, so that is an average of 4.53 goals for to .6 goals against per game. I looked up Wayzata Blue's numbers and they came into their game against Farmington 25-0 outscoring ...
