I'd argue that expanding the season and adding more games and keeping more kids in HS hockey will put less burden on the student side of the student athlete. Like has been said, the top players are playing year round anyway, might as well do that under the umbrella of HS hockey where there are acad...

But how many players would you guess stop playing the game at a young age due to burnout or don't even start when they...

I was at Schwans Arena this weekend and looming all over the complex were 4'x6' signs for AAA hockey. Their big selling point is more games. In Minnesota we're very lucky to still have high school hockey. Most states don't. The talk out there is to be competitive with AAA hockey the MSHSL is going t...

Maimquist and Jaremko played on the same off season team for 6 or 7 years. I'm sure they wish each other luck. Kind of amazing how that coach was able to pick them so young. I think all of the kids on that summer team have received D-1 offers but one. Bernie does know his youth hockey. Don't know hi...

DJ, you nailed it with the history and mystique of the northern arenas some dating to the 1930's. Heritage in Duluth is great, wish there something down here like it. Unfortunately guys the mystique of the North Country hockey is dying or has died. The kids from ER, Andover, or Forest Lake could gi...

I think everyone is pretty tired of hearing about Amzoil Arena like it's a big treat for these kids to play there. These kids have all played at great venues during their careers. ICE IS ICE. Few of the amenities offered there are enjoyed by the teams. Been to Amzoil a number of times. It's nice but...

Hey Starz
In the ER goalies last 5 games he has had only 3 goals scored on him and posted 3 shut outs. I think that question is answered as well as it can be. They're kids. Who knows who is going to hold up in the big games. By the way I'm not his Dad and I don't live in ER

Now your all looking foolish talking about a meaningless game . It would be different if STMA people were riding that win like fools but they aren't.. Truthfully our kids don't care who or where they play you need to win 3 games, and get thru more than likely the best unless there is major upsets t...

Elk River's big question this year was goal tending. Meyers has had only 3 goals scored on him the last 5 games, three of which were shut outs. I think he has figured out this level. Props to Coach Roberts for figuring out the answer. Elk River could go all the way.

They are looking at match ups I would think. Esse had ER at three last year, did he want to play them? CEC had ER beat until a late goal to tie it and a too many men penalty in OT led to an ER PP goal to win it. Smart like a fox. Lot's of gamesmanship involved. Maybe you use a computer model for a ...

Yes the coaches vote. Some of the votes cast in the past are completely out of line. It seems as though the votes cast are based on popularity VS reality. Gotta shake your head sometimes.

Well ER looks to be #1 for district 7AA. But who knows. So many times the voting has been so political for this GD district you can't even guess. Hopefully the politics go away and the coaches vote based on facts and not whatever the heck else they use. I wouldn't be surprised to see Grand Rapids co...

Thank God we keep score. The algorithms you are using definitely need to be fine tuned. They will never take into account the human element of the game and the fact that some teams just figure out how to win. Everybody who follows the game knows who they are. Your design will never be able to accoun...

It's all downhill after Hockey Day in Grand Rapids Elk Rivers production last year in the Pit will never be topped. It was helped by luck with the weather.
