@hockeytweet. My bringing it up was not in a puritan way. It's not that he swore, it's how he swore. They are talking about guerilla recruiting. Baer is talking about it, Pauly then agrees that this type of recruiting happens - but of course only at the other schools. Baer seems to imply there may h...

Re: City Pages Cover Story Part 2: Game Misconduct 2

First Part was pretty good. I think this part does a bit better in the exposure. Of course, not much new for regulars here. http://blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2015/01/game_misconduct_the_biggest_threat_to_the_state_of_hockey_may_be_itself.php Some pretty good stuff here: "The chance to play wi...

I gotta admit my fave part which the Ken Pauly quote. "Bob Baer's a @#$@# liar!" Nice. And this guy's a teacher at a Catholic high school? LOL. The face of BSM hockey... "Come play for us, or we'll effin' smear you." And I counted two f-bombs in the story...from the Presid...

The whole premise around the non-stop preaching on this topic is in my opinion flawed. HS coaches and the MN hockey royalty all talk about how it's best to stay in the nurturing environment of the home until they graduate. There is one problem with that however. It only applies to a percentage of bo...

If all you want to do is give a self-serving sermon, then any kind of bogus arguments will work, so long as they reach the ears of at least a few unsuspecting souls out in the pews. Exactly. If any of you are short for time, here's a synopsis of the article: • A lot more kids are leaving HS hockey,...

The Stay or Leave High School Question - by John Russo

http://www.letsplayhockey.com/online-edition/russo/2194-the-stay-or-leave-high-school-question.html Interesting article by John Russo of the Elite League. I have heard him speak on the value of staying in MN and playing hockey through High School. To be able to stay home with their family and frien...

Re: NHL Central Scouting Midterm rankings

Probably would have ranked higher if he had stayed in high school. Hasn't really found his niche at Portland. Probably... not. I haven't met a hockey scout that doesn't share the opinion that evaluating HS players is like a crap shoot on any given night - with the varying levels of competition, ran...

I'm calling BS over this repetitive damage control that takes place anytime someone changes their mind on playing for the U. Cue Gopher Blog, who arrives to subtlety insinuate that they weren't smart enough. The players are changing their minds, not the schools. Could it be as simple as they want to...

The Wild seem to like Portland as well. But not over the USHL, over the NCAA. "The fact that the Wild actually encouraged Olofsson to leave the NCAA for the WHL shows just how highly the Minnesota brass thinks of this kid." http://gonepuckwild.com/2014/01/12/report-minnesota-wild-encourage...

Re: blake wheeler

Those are marginal stats, even in the CHL as a rookie. The bottom line is, if you're good enough, it doesn't matter where you play, someday you'll play hockey 24/7. This is a very good read, by someone who has more hockey IQ than 99.99% of this "Bored". http://www.letsplayhockey.com/onlin...

Re: blake wheeler

Gabrielle and Baer will be in the top 4 rounds of the draft next year should they have stayed at Eagan or Benilde?? Baer has 15 pts in 37 games Gabrielle has 11 pts in 23 games Pretty good stats for rookies in the toughest junior hockey league in the world. Those are marginal stats, even in the CHL...

Re: the bigger picture

The bigger question to me is: What the he## kind of parents send their 15 or 16 year old away from home for hockey? I don't care if it's WHL, USHL, Shattuck, Team USA or other. I know that there can be family reasons to do so, but you'd think that those cases would be rare. Raising my kids is more ...

Expressly allowed to visit major junior Canadian teams. Really? It actually says that. This family made a commitment to play at bsm this season!! Correct?? Then this family should have waited til the season was over to go visit. I am assuming they will still be playing in mid march. So after the bs...
