Breaking up large associations

This could be another topic. Some of the larger assoc in the western suburbs of the Twin Cities have upwards of 170/190 players per level. It should be no surprise that the hockey powerhouses for the most part are the large associations. Maybe the large associations should be broken up by middle sch...

scholarships

what also plays into decisions by student athletes are scholarships which in many cases are only partial scholarships. Some schools like Ohio State may give a full ride hoping to encourage some better players and giving small partial scholarships to less known players. I am sure it is a big reason m...

Gamebreaker

The Steva website only mentions the NHL Central scouting as using Steva, there is no mention of any NHL team using Steva. Gamebreaker is used by 6 NHL teams and numerous college teams including MSU and MI.

seeded tournament

Unfortunately the balance of hockey power is shifting to the western suburbs of the Twin Cities. It is unfair that many of the power house teams have to play each other in sectional play. Then at the state tournament you have blowouts in the first round. Changing the format would be tough but I woul...

recruiting

Recruiting of athletes by private schools is a national issue and much worst in other parts of the country where football and basketball are prominent. In suburban DC there is a private school that has more alumni in the NFL (12) than any other high school. Lebron James forced his high school to enr...

tough job

As all of you know coaching is a tough job mainly because of all the outside influences and distractions. As Don Lucia says in a YouTube video the greatest coaching job is at an orphanage where you don't have to deal with parents.

Videotaping

There have been discussions at MN Hockey about taping all games above Peewees to help to see how injuries happen and especially concussions to help with a diagnosis. With all the smart devices able to video tape games it would be useful to have a video tape that is at least the official version beca...

Seeded tournament

I am not sure I follow your comments. Lou Nanne (sr) was on a talk show last week where he suggested a seeded state tournament much like the NCAA does. You would seed the top 16 teams in the state and they would compromise the state tournament for each class. The other big discussion is recruiting b...

Gamebreaker

I have not seen HUDL but from what I understand it is subscription based and has very little editing capabilities. Gamebreaker has a variety of editing features that allow for better game analysis but it does a cost a little more.
