Re: End of an Era?

I think the breakdown was about 50/50 (don't quote me). There were only 8 girls returning next season, not sure what the 9th grade numbers would be in the Fall. Maybe the Visitation skaters could join up with South St. Paul? The Packers have one of the leanest rosters I've seen in girls' hockey. In...

All the best to you and whatever work it is that you do.

Sadly, I agree with you. I don't think there will be high school sports in 2020-21, except for diving and maybe gymnastics.

I give it a 1 in 3 chance there is no hockey come October. No decision should be made on where to play early.
I completely agree with this. I'm not sure how anything will happen until there's a vaccine.

Relatedly, I don't think there will be any fall high school or college sports.

Re: Role of the Minnesota State High School League

I am 100 percent with you Stang5280 if it is for education. Add a provision then that the kid is not eligible for high school athletics for one year to the date of enrollment. Similar to the college transfer rule. We would soon find out if it was truly for education then. It would be enough to say ...

MN BB wants to switch to seeded brackets

Maybe girls' hockey coaches could piggy back on this and get a change in their sport as well.

Re: The Hub's 2020 Way-Too-Early Top-10 rankings...

That's an interesting list. I personally think Eden Prairie and Forest Lake are too high. I believe FL loses 10 of its top 12 scorers and also its goalie. It's Golnitz, Boerboom and a lot of new faces. To not have Farmington in the top 15 is a massive oversight. I would take their top 5-6 skaters (F...

Re: Breck

Since you asked, I believe three of the 15 skaters that played regularly (so 20%), though there could be others I'm not aware of. Two are from Selects Academy (out of state) and one from Andover, and not to mention the goaltender who left then came back. The flip side for Edina is that a high schoo...

A good night for Andover and the Selects Academy. A bad night for Edina.

I will go on the record and say these teams will be in the state title game again next year.

Re: Breck

I’m watching Breck and Lourdes right now. It’s time for them to follow Blake’s path and MOVE UP TO AA. Trophy hunting is all it is. Any thought? Your second sentence shows the issue. Breck shouldn't get to choose whether to follow Blake to AA. Private schools should either be in their own tournamen...

There's absolutely nothing stopping the High School League from forcing Breck to move up to fill in one of the two open 5AA spots.

Re: State Tournament Seeding

Just put the 11-12 private schools into their own tournament. They play by their own rules with regard to recruiting and player movement.

Might as well throw Edina in there as well, since they are getting annual Selects Academy upperclass recruits too.

Re: 2020 Section Results

Blake's season - and run- is over. Back to class A? I think what is more telling from the stat lines at the hockey hub is that Wayzata were the deserved winners. Wayzata outshot Blake by an order of 2:1 in the third period when Blake had to press to get back in the game. I realize nobody's going to...

Re: Ms. Hockey Finalists

That's not a crazy ordering, by any means, but I think you (and Eagles93) are selling Langseth short. She has 63 points for a team that scored 86 goals. She had points on 73% of the goals for a third ranked team that still gives up almost 2 goals a game (unlike Andover, who wins on the back of domi...

Re: Ms. Hockey Finalists

If I picked the finalists, I would choose, in order: Delianedis Mobley Nelson Langseth Corneliusen I like Nicholson's game a lot; however, Minnetonka's results didn't change much when she and Guilday were gone. That speaks to Tonka's strength, but I do think these five players were more integral to ...

Re: Special teams

RE: Minnetonka- their top two D missed a handful of games in late Dec and early Jan for the U18 National team, plus played one game the day after they got back with jet lag. Guessing this may have impacted their numbers. Minnetonka gave up 3 goals on the power play in 27 opportunities while Guilday...

I wouldn't imagine Goehner's 5 goals allowed to Stillwater at home on senior day Saturday will help her cause much.
She will probably be forgiven if she beats NWC and Andover in the next week and a half.

Re: Section predictions

Section 1 is terrible it's like a JV team section. Farmington is ok at best and Lakeville South padded there non conference schedule with a bunch of cream puffs. How is it that you have 2 south suburban team in section 1AA and 6 south suburban teams in section 3AA. Hello earth to MSHSL same could b...

Re: Blake and Breck

The fact that they would be dumped into a section with Edina, Blake, Wayzata and BSM might be one reason. If MN hockey had more even sections it might be more appealing. When you already have 8 of the top 15 teams in two sections it doesn't make for very competitive state tournaments. Why not put B...

Re: 2020 Ms. Hockey discussion

Nicholson is surely near the top with Mobley, Corneliusen and the older Jungels.

Looking at things another way, the HS team most negatively affected by the U18 tourney was probably Blake (Edina and Tonka weren't affected at all). So I'd say Wethington's stock was boosted the past two weeks as well.

Re: New Topic!!! Herb Brooks Tourney Surprises

It appears Andover is going to win this tourney without much trouble, even without the oldest Hemp sister. FWIW Blake is without their best player too. I respectfully disagree. Delianedis scored tonight : ). I mean that not to talk poorly of who isn't there. She along with Lily and Burton are 3 won...

New Topic!!! Herb Brooks Tourney Surprises

Hey lets talk about this!!! Today's results at the Herb - Centennial 4 - SPU 1 Rogers 5 - Blake 3 (!!!!!) Andover 5 - Holy Family 1 Proctor / Hermantown 5 - Hill-Murray 1 (!!!!) This is a really strange quirk, but all four teams in the losers' bracket are big-time private schools. It appears Andover...
