Re: Andover vs Edina

Before you guys anoint this as the game of the decade let's not forget that there are a few other teams that might have a say in this year before the season end specifically Brainerd and Forest Lake. They tied 2-2 over the weekend. I'll take Andover 5-4 as it is the first game of the year and ther ...

Re: Andover vs Edina

I also enjoy the subplot of the Andover youth player who won multiple state titles, moved over to Edina and won yet another youth state title, and is now on the Edina varsity (and won a State title last year).

I like this one to end in a 4-4 draw.

Re: 2020 MS Goalie

Pardon my confusion and naivete. Why are girls from high schools with girls' hockey programs allowed to play boys hockey in Minnesota? Nobody asks Paige Bueckers to play boys basketball for Hopkins in order to improve in advance of going to UConn. Nobody asks Natasha Sortland to run boys' cross-coun...

Re: 2020 MS Goalie

Let the debate begin Does playing boys qualify? Because there are 4 girls playing boys this year and they are the 4 best girls in the state. 1 senior 3 juniors so this could be a two year debate. Who are the three juniors and on what teams? My guesses are: Skylar Vetter on Lakeville North Hannah Sk...

I understand Edina has two move ins? One from Selects Academy and one apparently from Arizona who someone claimed will be their best forward this year? Anyone have details? This has been confirmed... no idea if she will be their best forward. https://www.edinaschools.org/Page/5694 https://www.elite...

Re: AA

I'll only argue with one thing raised by Mnnstar and it pertains to Blake. Assuming Wethington, Delianedis and Burton play together, that's the best F line in the state (followed closely by the top Andover line). These three had 153 points last year and it would not be surprising if they eclipsed 20...

I don’t think it was common knowledge when it was posted to this board. Maybe common knowledge is different for us.

Not a big deal. Just giving the guy credit who brought it to the board.

Re: 2020 Ms. Hockey discussion

I'll add one player to the conversation - Steigauf at H-M. She will score a lot of points.

Okay, another - Nelson from Andover will score a ton.

Who would be considered the #2 defender in the 2020 class? Little (Andover)? Robinson (Brainerd)? Ziegler (CDH)? Schuster (Stillwater)?

Re: High school programs #s in Elite league

The easy way to solve this issue is to go back to one division for girls hockey. Format the postseason so 16 teams get to State. Use Tuesday of State tourney week to get the bracket from 16 to 8. Play those games at Ridder and Tria. Boot the 8 losing teams on Tuesday to the consolation bracket. Have...

Re: Elite league

Stats are kept for the Elite League, but they aren't published.

The people that need to know the stats (scouts, league administrators) are provided those stats. Worry not. All the people you think are scoring lots of goals ("Shelton," etc) and making lots of saves (Bothun) are doing exactly that.

Re: High school programs #s in Elite league

Maybe because they would be put in the "mini state tournament" section with Edina, Blake, Wayzata and Benilde. Until that section changes, I don't see them moving any time soon. Can you imagine had they kept Minnetonka in there? Yesterday I read about the MSHSL dealing with a $400,000 deficit. The ...

Re: Rumors from the rink

How can attendance be made "mandatory" during the fall HS sports season? A majority of players show up if they can and race from the court/field/course to a game to do so. Maybe don't sign your child up if you can not make it. Nothing more frustrating for EVERYONE involved, when the commitment is w...

Re: Class AA rankings

I'll throw another team into the contender's mix. Stillwater. Their top 8 scorers return and they're all upperclassmen. They have a new coach that is highly respected and has complete buy-in, their youth program has constantly produced talent recognized by YHH and MN / USA Hockey, and importantly, n...

1-Blake didn’t lose much 2-Edina 3-Forest Lake 4- Yikes. Blake lost Wethington and Daniel. Now, they have a lot returning, but to claim those 2 "aren't much" is curious. Considering up-to-date player movement, the top 5 teams this winter will likely be Andover, Blake, Edina, Forest Lake and Minneto...

One of the ones I missed is a Mankato D commit. Lillie Ramirez, South St. Paul ‘22. She’s announced, and I can’t find her on eliteprospects.com at all. The Harvard and Penn State are on the website but not announced (along with another Princeton commit), but the rest look like their college choices...

Re: National and Select camp selections...

I’m interested in the age bias present in both USA hockey’s evaluation process and college recruiting. Led by Frost who has recruited almost exclusively kids with birth months between January and July in the last three years, kids born in the first half of the year have a HUGE advantage in birth-ye...
