Re: 2024 Section Tournaments
A few days late, but a valiant effort by the Eagles to battle back from 2 down late only to lose a minute into overtime to HF. HF pretty much dominated the puck all game, but the Eagles fought until the end. They lose a lot, mostly with Swanson graduating so they won’t have the same luxury next sea...

Re: Top 10 Rankings
Was it the great Meat Loaf who said "three out of four ain't bad?" Gentry may not even be top three in their section You're probably right, but there will be little indication as to how good Gentry is until Sections because of their schedule. How about subbing in Stillwater for Gentry, an...

The top 5 should include Andover, Edina, Gentry and Minnetonka.

Re: Coaching Changes
My sister's boyfriend's cousin has a friend who works for the Hill Murray fire department. They said they're just going to use player coaches but you must have a name that starts with E or P. ND is now available. Guessing Coach Darwitz may lead the Whitecaps. She is co-coach at Hill-Murray with Bob...

Re: 2023-2024 New Section Alignment?
I would really like that 3 section alignment, with this caveat: The team that finishes last in each AAA section is "relegated" to the relevant AA section the following season, with the corresponding section champion being "promoted" to AAA. Same thing for A and AA. This would sto...

Re: Coaching Changes
Forest Lake is also posted. That makes 4 of the 9 Suburban East jobs currently available. When you also consider Stillwater changed late last offseason and Roseville "changed" by adding Mahtomedi staff to its braintrust, there has been an incredible amount of flux in the conference coachi...

Re: Coaching Changes
Hearing rumblings on changes at both Woodbury and White Bear Lake. I think the Woodbury gig is already open. Heard over the weekend that the Metro-South coach stepped down as well. We'll see what happens in WBL - my understanding is the Head Coach lives in Lakeville so that has to be a tough commut...

Re: Coaching Changes
Good points with BSM and CLHS. What other big schools? South Suburban might see some changes at AVHS and Eagan. South, North, Farmington, Eastview, Shakopee and Prior Lake won't see any changes. Some of the longest coaches around been at those school (not prior lake but she did a great job building...

Re: Coaching Changes
Interesting. I know I haven't been a fan of Randy and his theatrics on the bench. Do you think it's because his team has been in the section final for the last three years and he can't get past Tonka? I saw his daughter graduates that might be a cause to move on. For evidence in favor of my theory,...

Re: tourney
Shame on the MSHSL and Warroad’s staff. 8-10 goals makes the point. 15 is an embarrassment. With the disparity in talent maybe it’s time for 3 classes: eight team double A tournament, and two four-team tournaments for A+ and A-. Agreed. Even if another class is created, Warroad is small enough to s...

Re: Links to Newspaper or Web Articles About MN Girls Hockey
Interesting. Does Stillwater not offer gym class?
Worth noting that Stillwater's current starting goalie went to Gentry and benefited from that daily training before moving back to the Ponies.
Volk's reason to not schedule Gentry going forward is far more valid than Cashman's.

Re: 2023 Ms. Hockey Semifinalists
It's probably not a stretch... Seems like a big stretch, I'm sure the winner was already determined prior to Feb 10, and they don't have 3 rounds of voting. Whether it's a simple "select one girl to be Ms. Hockey" or "rank your top 5 girls for Ms. Hockey" and then they tallied i...

Re: 2023 Ms. Hockey Semifinalists
Zero transfers in the final group. Maybe that has something to do with it. Of course correlation does not imply causation, but at some point it probably becomes difficult for the selection committee/voters to completely ignore it. It's probably not a stretch to suggest the 2-day delay in announcing...

Re: 2023 Ms. Hockey Semifinalists
The final 5 are announced. What did their teams do in the 9 days between the Top 10 and Top 5 announcements? Boerger - 17 points in 3 Section games. A worthy choice. Hause - won 2 section games, lost to Gentry again. Higuchi - 3 assists against Armstrong, shut out by Edina. O'Hara - Through to State...

Re: 2023 Ms. Hockey Semifinalists
In the future, the High School League should probably wait until the final 20% of the season is complete before announcing the Ms. Hockey Top 10. They announced the list on Feb 10th when less than 20% of the season remained for the majority of teams at that point, and how many seasonal awards in an...

Re: 2023 Section Seedings
23 Penalties in a section final game between two top 15 teams? Give me a break. That is insane. I didn't watch it, but that many penalties are not called in boys game. 6 body checking penalties? It's not the same girls game from 10 years ago. Girls are bigger faster stronger. Could you imagine if t...

Re: 2023 Ms. Hockey Semifinalists
