Re: covid and MH

It sounds like the holiday scare is just too much and Jan 4 will be the date. Disappointing... but not unexpected. Through yesterday, MN’s average daily cases per 100k is at 65.4. WI is 68.6; IA is 54.5; ND is 86: SD is 78.6. By Jan 4 all will be in the 40 to 50 range... regardless of the restrictio...

Re: covid and MH

Apparently, the link won’t hold MN, WI, IA, ND, SD. If you plug those states in you’ll see a strong correlation in virus case trending.

Re: covid and MH

A chart to provide some food for thought as we await tomorrow’s decision by the Governor. https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#compare-trends_newcasesper100k When MN case numbers are mapped against those of our neighboring states, it’s easy to see that the shutdown has done virtually nothing to...

WOM - sorry for your loss... too many have had to (and continue to have to) deal with these tragic losses. Gov. Tim Walz will join long-term care providers Friday afternoon to highlight efforts to keep long-term care residents safe. The live video will be streamed here at 2 p.m. Walz will join Minne...

Re: covid and MH

WOM... I actually doubt that we’re too far apart in our thinking regarding the actual virus, but I we’ll have to agree to disagree on the guidance/actions taken by our State government. You never acknowledge the capacity issue? I did read the articles that you posted and most of them specifically po...

Re: covid and MH

West...solid read. Glad they at least attempted show there is support for the “support a pause” side of the conversation. I have zero specific evidence other than just talking to people but, I’m confident the percentage of hockey people who support/understand the pause is much higher than being sho...

Re: covid and MH

Spamtownusa. Totally agree. Unfortunately we have about 1/3 of our population that choose not to abide by the face mask, wash hands protocol. That’s why it’s come to this. I am no scientist but can be pretty comfortable in saying if we had 95% abiding the rule, thus would not be happening. Don’t bl...

Re: covid and MH

WOM - I agree with the statement that you’ve made once again... “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one...” The problem is, that’s not what is happening. The needs of the vast majority of people are being ignored (e.g., the need to earn a living in order to support their fam...

Yes. MN Hockey has sent their communication that specifically calls it out. I assume MSHSL will do the same shortly.

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

As others are saying, I don’t see any bridge season happening... at least through associations. Too much hassle for six weeks. My guess is that games will be delayed until after Jan 1 and cut back to about 15-17. Teams might be formed and allowed to practice some in Dec. Private groups, booster club...

Re: Minnesota Hockey Taking Over?

So to sum up this thread, if MHSHL shortens or cancels the season players/parents/coaches are going to find a way to take the ice whether it's through youth hockey, Jr Gold, or by other means. Hockey has been happening all summer with AAA games, Junior camps, etc, and the games will continue throug...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

I’m with Schozty. This is not anywhere near a big deal to me. The kid wants to play with the friends he grew up with. Every time some kids leaves early for juniors half you freak out about how there is nothing better than playing with the kids you grew up with, and here a kid is trying to do that b...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

I was fully on board with him going back to at SCC. I assumed that there may have been a personal situation/issue/etc. at Tonka and it was really no one else’s business. Special circumstance certainly can justify exceptions. Until I read that article. Now I ‘m 100% on the side that this is total bs....

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Tonka? One with big name crossed classes to move in last year... maybe back to A? Shattuck transfer could bounce again? Don’t know that these would have the “X implications” that Westy is talking about. Have to admit, this has added some intrigue to a slow time.

Re: Dynamo Premier Prep vs MGHCA Premier Prep

Thought I’d move this up. It looks like MN Hockey has discontinued their girls HP15 Fall Tier I League and has not provided any information on options for 04 birth year girls next fall. Wondering if anyone knows how this played out last year or knows of other potential options?

Re: New State Tournament Format (or my day dream)

I like the idea of having 7 and creating a back door. It has been done in the past. Absorb section 1 into the south metro or take the metro out of 7 and 8 and combine the north. Either would work.

Honest question. Is anyone aware of high school state tournaments anywhere that don’t have a geographic component to them? Isn’t it likely this is just how high school sports are handled everywhere? They are by definition called “state” tournaments.

“Finally, just going to throw out there that there is no Greenway upset story without Hermantown either.” —- Completely agree with this. Take away all the Goliaths and no one cares about the Davids. Re: Play-off Games Thursday 2/28/19

Should be lots of close games but I am thinking Alex and Maple Grove could pull the upsets. I think AA could very well see three upsets tonight. Maple Grove could be the best of the lower seeds... but might have the toughest shot at an upset. STA is known to collapse, South can certainly beat North...
