Class A is supposed to be for smaller schools that use their own kids. That's what EGF was and nobody ever called for them to move up. Obviously the hockey is not going to be the same as the AA side. That's how it is in every sport. If Hermantown and Breck stay in A then you might as well just go b...

The MSHSL should make teams move up a level after they have dominated a class for awhile. And I'm just talking hockey. You see many many sports where a school totally dominates its competition in a given class. Have some sort of formula where if you win so many championships is a given amount of ti...

If the MSHSL allows the same opt-downs as last time, Section 2 and Section 6 will only have 7 teams. Section 2 will lose LeSeur-Henderson co-op, Mound-West Tonka and Marshall co-op. Section 6 will lose St. Louis Park and Minnehaha co-op. Seems to me that the MSHSL would have a little more foresight...

1AA is 9-3 the last 4 years at the state tournament, better than any other section except for 2AA. Sure it's been 2 teams but the same can be said for nearly every section. Bemidji broke the Moorhead/Roseau lock for the first time in 26 years or so, Duluth East has been 7 times in a row, Stillwater...

It's a joke how 1AA stays unchanged. Should have moved a team from section 2 and 6 to breath some new life and challenge the Lakeville Schools. I understand Farmington is up and coming but section 1 has been a two team race for years. 1AA is 9-3 the last 4 years at the state tournament, better than...

Per the MSHSL website, Minnehaha's 9-12 enrollment this year was 414 students, so that's really odd. Gotcha, thanks. I still think Andover makes sense with the other A/B/C schools in 5AA, but at least the numbers are a bit more even. Minnehaha Academy's hockey program is a coop program with 3 other...

If you rob most of the talent from Class A by forcing or even pressuring the better teams to move to AA, then you will end up with a de facto Tier II, which only family members and friends would want to watch. At that point they should also have a JV state tournament, or better yet let those teams ...

The concerns of creating a watered down A tournament from having too many opt ups are overstated. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the problem with Tier I and II was that teams weren't assigned a tier until after the regular season? That's what I think hurt Tier II. You had a bunch of .500 teams or worse...

Seems to me we the way teams are classified between A and AA could use some tweaking. There are a handful of teams in AA that due to changing demographics and other reasons will probably never again be competitive in AA (Cooper, Irondale, Coon Rapids, etc.). Maybe to classify teams you start with sa...
