Re: Class A Game of the Year #2 Warroad @ #1 Hermantown (1/15/22)

Hermantown wins by a couple of goals and outshoots them by at least 10

I agree with a previous poster that if they meet in March at the X it's basically a coin flip. Hermantown is significantly deeper, but that gets thrown out the window with the media time outs at state.

Re: Early Departures 2021-22

Can someone confirm what the current rules are with regards to these kids playing in juniors? Did they have to be back for the first day of practice to be eligible to play? Or is it similar to youth hockey where they have to be rostered by a certain time (i.e. 1st of the year). I know last year was ...

Re: Early preseason Top 20 for Single A - 2021

Agree that Hermantown is clear #1 and the gap is probably as wide has it's been in several years. Sucks that Warroad/EGF will both be consistent top 3 teams for the foreseeable future and only one of them will make it to state each year. They both run model Single A programs. Can't forget about TRF ...

Grand Rapids is too low
Andover is too high
Roseau is too high
Duluth East should not even be an honorable mention

Re: 2021-22 season transfers

I know a Hibbing goalie moved in and was the Bantam AA goalie last year for H-town, where is the other goalie move-in from?

Can't say I blame the move from Hibbing, Boyer looks to be a good one and he will only be a junior this year.

Re: 2022 UMHSEL Thread

That's the issue with "grandfathering" in all of the players that make it as 10th and 11th graders. Those superstar bantams going into high school don't always remain superstars...other players catch up and pass them by. Easy fix would be to have tryouts every year. If you made it as a 10th and/or 1...

Rock Ridge (Virginia/Eveleth) position is open.

Virginia coaching contract was not renewed a few weeks ago and the school board accepted the Eveleth coach resignation at last nights meeting.

Re: 2021-22 Coaching Openings

Not a head coaching opening, but heard that one of the Rapids assistants was let go by the school administration the day after the Andover game for actions that occurred after the game. Anyone from Rapids that can confirm this? I had originally heard it was just a Rapids parent involved. Hearing mul...

Re: 7A early prediction

Hermantown wins 7A in a shocker. :^o Way too early 2022 prediction: Hermantown might be even better next year. Denfeld losing some key pieces, but shouldn't drop off too much and will likely stay in top ten. Hibbing and Virginia will both be better and close the gap with Denfeld, but probably still...

What's the story with the Pilkenton kid for Rapids? He's from Andover? Funny, the GR guys I work with on occasion never mentioned this. I was under the assumption this kid was on of the JV team the last two years. Not going to get a lot of playing time with Clafton in front of you. Little disappoin...

Re: Class A Rankings 1.31.21

Thanks BP. I should have known that, but apparently the news slipped under my radar. That makes sense as to why there are so many home-and-home series between the traditional IMAC members and the affiliates. The IMAC affiliation does limit Gentry’s ability to add quality opponents, but I think that...

Re: Games January 14 2021

East-Denfeld was a good, entertaining start to the year. Both teams have some work to do in back but showed some good creativity at times. The Hounds has good control in the first period and in the OT; it was more even in the 2nd and 3rd. Great talent up front for Denfeld and Snyder was solid in ne...

WM- The place where you pulled that number 43,557 from is for weekending dates of 2/1/2020 through 12/12/2020. I took the full year starting with week ending date 1/4/2020 by pulling up the actual week by week spreadsheet. You are short a month on your count. Take a look at the header before scrolli...

Karl, Ive been looking at a couple of the links you sent me a couple pages back in the thread. Minnesota has consistently run about 44000-45000 deaths from all causes in recent years as i mentioned above So on a 10 month basis, that would be roughly 37100 through October. I had wondered whether the...

Does anyone honestly think the state will lift the restrictions until after the holidays? Re: Early Christmas Present: Boys State Hockey Tournament (Meeting Dec 3rd)

Seems like a no brainer they would keep everything shut down through the 1st of the year. Start winter sports up then, with games starting around 12th-15th. Any potential Covid cases from the holiday gatherings should be taken care of before then. Could have section finals completed by Thursday, Apr...

For the record, I believe the kids should be playing sports as well. No proof, but I would bet any COVID related spread is coming from the parents hanging out before the games. Do whatever needs to be done, including keeping parents out of the arenas, to make this work.
