I always love the argument that teams lost to A teams, so they need to be ranked higher. The move up to AA and play.

It is funny trying to put Roseau down for playing with "the big boys"! Warroad has never won a "big boy tourney" ever, but wants to rip Roseau for doing it and winning it and competing in it this year. Warroad can say anything they want, but the fact is they will never have what Roseau has, ever. En...

There is an older saying that says if you have never won a real state tournament or ever had any success playing the big schools, you stay in class A. Sorry, but you will never know what its like!

There definitely would not have been a team there with a first and second line to match up, Edina included!

So you lose two times at the state tournament and you get to be called 4th place and you win twice and take 5th? That is why it is consolation and not 5th place. Only 1 team at the tourney wins more games than the consolation champs, it is just timing.

Why would Yon have moved east, his parents are both from Roseau, he has ties here. Why would Bjugson have moved east, to try play in a Class A tourney in a quarter final game with 5,300 fans or play in Roseau and get to play AA in front of 15,000?

I like your comment when referring to Roseau, that small communities can still do great things. A little perspective. Roseau had the smallest enrollment at the state tourney, either class. Roseau's enrollment is around 320, the next smallest AA school was around 1575. Eden Prairie's enrollment of ov...

A few things about the tourney

Edina unfortunately is very good. Roseau was better than the credit many of you gave them. Zach Yon was the best forward in the tournament. Edina has game, unfortunately very little class to go with it. The officiating as a whole was mediocre at best. But still hard not to enjoy the state tournament!

A couple of things. Why play the Regions then, just pick your best 8 as the metro sees it and go with that. The Peewee AA North Region was set up pretty well, with no metro teams in it as it should be. I don't care what level, youth or high school, state tournament participants should come from ever...

I agree with the post that all private schools should be in one section and they can send their best to the state tourney. I certainly understand that there are public schools that you may not want to send your child to and there are academic advantages to private schools, but their are also athleti...

So they didn't blow out River Lakes. What does that say about your Spuds who they did spank? DE deserves a top 3 seed, so the metro can't deny them. Roseau deserves a #5, but won't get it and if they draw Edina i round 1, I can tell you the seeding isn't random!

Roseau a #1 seed from their section and a better overall record than several teams should receive the 5 seed, but the metro bias will not allow that to happen.

No matter what one thinks about the 1st line of Warroad, you would have to admit they are amazing in their ability to log that many minutes and continue to be effective.

I would like to have my kid try band, but only go to class twice a week. Could he also try the accelerated reading class, but he really only has time to do it twice a week. Could you please let "my" son try anything he wants and let "my" son do it at a time that is pleasing for "me"!

Hopefully EGF makes it to state and then wins the "A" state tournament. To speculate if EGF might be the best team in the state any class, will be a moot point if they don't win their own division. Let the play-offs play out and then one can speculate. EGF knew they had a special group a number of y...

Very exciting to have Zach Yon as a Top 10 finalist for Mr. Hockey. Zach along with teammate Alex Strand lead the state in AA scoring for seniors. Zach has always been a standout player, but his game from the blue line back has really improved this year, I dare say he is one of the most explosive sk...

Win your section and then win state. Often times, section tournaments may be tougher than the state tournament for a given team. That is why section tournaments are well attended and exciting. This is still a state high school event. I don't believe if 8 metro teams happened to be ranked 1 thru 8, i...
