Let's be sure to get a welfare check out on hawkenjohnny tomorrow. Congrats T-Hawks Thanks for thinking of me. Busy weekend of all my favorite things! Could not be more proud of the GR team. No quit, never quit. One of the best overall tournaments I remember with the added cherry on top. Sorry that...

Amazing. Congratulations to the Luverne team and their crew. They played a great game. Take down the green wave!

My point, "faulty logic" aside, was that the game was not a blowout and the cardinals won a game and lost the third in OT at that state tournament which no other team from 3A has ever done. The growth of that program is something to smile about if you care about MN high school hockey. No a...

How about congratulations to Luverne for getting back to the X and being the only 3A team (that I remember) that has had any success there. That game a couple years ago vs Htown was not close because Hermantown was surprised. It was close because Luverne had some good players that worked as a team a...

Depending on which Rapids team shows up the whole AA side of things is pretty up in the air. I really don't see any one team that is completely dominant, or at least not consistently.

Epic match up? I know the coaching history, but that would be no match up at all. Sorry cards, I am in your corner to get there but really haven't seen anything at all that would let me believe that would be a game. But I am a GR guy so I have been wrong (many times) before. If you get there PLEASE...

GR needs to put a whole game together and stay focused. Even though I have personal stake in this team, I know that this will be a challenge. They can do it. Top players virtually unstoppable when they are playing the game not the outside issues. Come on guys. This one is for all the marbles. Leave ...

Well boys the thanks did it! Not the easy way but they did it. We may not survive a game with East like this one if we give them a 2 goal head start but we gave ourselves a chance. Taking a song out of the cardinals book, if we play like we CAN, we are in. One more boys.

Oh Herb, there might be a little more to it than that the past couple years. Cards had a tough goalie (mentally as well it seemed) when they went to state, but the year after that there were a few notable hammer shots to the face like scoring on your own net, etc. Last year should really never have ...

Sick. Should be back. We need more than that though. Something more intangible if we are going to play to potential. Have seen only flashes of it this season. Seem too interested in off ice activity and extracurriculars on ice. :?

Glad to see some absentee voices back on this finally. My own team is apparently confusing MHSH for the WWF. Luverne, like the last 2 years (yes I stand by that) will need goatending to win, but shouldn't have to be great. Iffy tending and some untimely penalties near the end of the game cost them l...

Not often that I can say I am actually a little embarrassed by the behavior of so many players and parents in my town but...... I am. Get it together people or maybe get some bantams up here to play the game like GR should be playing. Better figure it out and now or you/we will all be watching from ...

Really don't see any of these teams beating Luverne in the playoffs. Luverne may beat themselves (again) or they will be back at the X. Outsider opinion would be that this section is way down this year. Whoever goes is likely to get smoked hard start to finish. Hope I am wrong. I hate watching those...

No dog in this fight (got my own going in 7AA) but from what I have seen (only seen LDC a couple times and NU vs Luv) the whole section seems like a shadow of what it was the last few years. Luverne definitely not the power that it was but could (and probably will) get to the X due to no one else do...

What a disappointing game from a GR standpoint. Really nice game control from East (who in MY opinion is not as talented on the top end this year) which shows that if you have a game plan for how to shut down another team and YOU EXECUTE IT, you can win. Dominant performance and I cannot disagree (e...

GR by one. I agree that the two D men missing are going to be a factor, but still not sure East can shut down the THawks. Hope not anyway. I hope everyone can keep their heads and avoid more of the same problems. Like someone mentioned earlier, play with passion, but not to the point you are doing t...

hey as someone watching their team cough up a tough one, it looks like L towm has the same problem. Reliance on one line and trying to be too fancy. Hard nosed hockey works better in the long run. When Luverne went to state they had more than one line that scored and tough nosed D. I haven't seen th...

Sort of what I figured. Defensive issues can be a killer. As a former D guy I will say that many (not all) coaches (maybe more old school) have the D communicate with the goalie on the 2-1 situations and let him make the call. If goalie has shooter then D takes the pass and DOES NOT fully engage the...

If Luverne put up that many shots and had one goal to show for it, then I would question the shot quality as well. Having a breakaway doesn't translate necessarily into a quality shot. New Ulm goalie that tough? What about what was going on in the other end of the ice? 4 goals on 20 shots? Luck? Goo...

Nope not looking to bash anyone and I have been in Luverne's corner except when some of their fans left the rails of all hockey sanity. Even that (especially that?) was pretty entertaining. I am happy to see some growth in that part of the state for our sport and nicely done on the new arena in Mars...

Re: Right on!

But in hockey, where you need BOTH stars and plumbers (see Gophers failures for now multiple years - too many 1st liners and no 3rd liners), team is almost always the determining factor in who wins. Locker room matters in hockey. Leadership. The value of kids who can provide some of these "int...
