Re: 2022 grad commits to WI on 5/10 - so much for recruiting rules

Did anyone REALLY believe NCAA would get this right? Does anyone REALLY really think this will stop coaches for "committing kids early" There are way to many "open" ends to this new policy to think it will change a whole lot. They had the ability to get it right but all they did was change a few dat...

Re: Scout's perspective

Everyone sees kids differently. Especially scouts One scout will call the kid a puck hog the other standing right next to him will call the kid "highly skilled" The dad on my left may not like his back checking the dad on my right loves how "offensive minded" he is I may evaluate the kid based on hi...

Re: 2019 HP U17 or U16 Boys Rosters?

It's an "evaluation" without any evaluation "after the fact." The list comes out and it's over. USA has some influence with the 15's but probably stays out of it for the 16's and 17's unless they truly have someone in their sights for next years NDTP team. The kids leave the weekend not knowing why ...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Let's be honest....Hockey is ruining hockey.. Yes parents are crazier than crazy today and yes parents moving their kids for the sake of hockey is somewhat silly but remember Minnesota hockey jamming all this HP stuff on families is part of the problem High School coaches filling their pockets with ...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Since the Big Ten was formed, they've only had two teams make it to the finals...Minnesota in 2014 and Notre Dame 2018..Both teams lost NCHC - 4 National Champions since the Big Ten was formed So right now it's pretty clear who's winning the race Money can buy a lot of things but apparently not coll...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Couple things (and let me preface by saying I am a gopher fan) I don't think the Big Ten will necessarily prove to be the better of the two conferences. It's a great topic to debate but I think each conference will have it's good years and their bad years. As far as the gophers. Every time there is ...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

We have the luxury of sitting back and breaking down the mistakes all these coaches made. But let's be honest. If you are a Division one coach in Minnesota the path of least resistance has always been the same 8-10 towns like Roseau, Duluth, Tonka and of course Edina. Then you look for kids who's pa...

Re: NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings

Keep in mind...this is North American only (US and Canada) We have to merge in the International Ranking to get a good sense of where our Minnesota boys could end up being drafted Does anyone know is the International pool as a strong? How many notches do these kids typically slide once the internat...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

I don't know how everyone else feels but the older college hockey gets, the less I'm interested in it I switched my preference from the NHL to college many years ago. But if I'm going to be watching a bunch of 21-25 year olds, I'll probably just switch back to the NHL I certainly hope college coache...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Great stuff...Nice work on digging up the info... We need to see more kids play out their high school careers versus leaving early Do you know how many went right from High School to college? Age wise they are considered a "young team" in comparison to the other 60 D-1 programs The question is...If ...

We are hilarious because we are suggesting that Minnesota Hockey takes a three week break to allow families to spend a little time a together?

I guess you're sense of humor and mine are quite different

So the message is If you're an 00, 01, 02 even an 03 and you didn't make this team. Or that team. Or you don't have that "verbal agreement" yet....Settle down ...No need to double down on those lessons...There's still a long process ahead and lots of college rides left to hand out The one thing that...

Re: Development is YOUR responsibility

My advice to any parent with young kids is simply this. 1. Learn to say NO.. Once you say yes, you're hooked and you can never turn back again 2. Do not over train your kid (kids today are zombies...to many lack creativity/high IQ.)...IMO, anyone who tells you 6:00am training sessions before school ...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

Okay so if I'm following that logic (and trust me I'm not arguing with you) Take the 1998 birth year. It would have around 50 kids right now - Either at the D-1 school, at juniors but verbally committed or maybe already played a year or two of college and currently playing pro (The W and OHL we can ...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

Beau Not a big deal but those numbers would include a combination of birth years Example 2020 grads are typically a combo of late 01's and early 02's 2021 would be late 02 and early 03's For the sake of the argument, is there a website that list these commitments out by birth year? or is it all be g...

You're saying 40-50 2003 birth year kids from Minnesota will eventually play D-1? Wow I had no idea the numbers were that high. Impressive

Anyone know the current number of 2001's verbally committed ? 2000's ?

in the pipes I don't think it's inferior nor did I say that. I think it's just "different". I would say 19 out of 20 times whether a kid goes there or stays, it won't have any effect on the kids long term development..... If the kid has it within and has been giving a gift by the hockey gods (athlet...

Just another sign of just how strong of commitment our kids /families have to the Minnesota model

Take out the two Gentry kids who never experienced the joy of playing Bantam or High School hockey here and Minnesota hockey really only lost the one kid to NDTP

MSW Coach I like you call that one weekend in May "fishing opener"....That's what I call it as well. So if the State of Minnesota can't figure out how to avoid having fishing opener...

MWS Coach Politely disagree 1. No one goes to the cabin in March /April (not even me) 2. Starting this say this coming weekend would still give every family a number of days for their spring break...1/3 of schools have theirs the 3rd week in March, 1/3 the last week and 1/3 the first week in April. ...
