Re: Andover vs Edina

Pelkey played pretty damn well, too. If she’s that good all year, it is DEFINITELY Andover’s title to lose.

Re: Pre-season scrimmage schedules

Blake and South St. Paul scrimmaged last night. 2-1 Blake in 5v5, and 2-0 Blake in 20 minutes of back and forth power play work.

Any other scrimmage updates? (I saw in another thread Forest Lake and Brainerd tied 2-2 on Saturday)

Re: AA

Total agree on Sota! We are lucky to have him/her - funny, well written, informed. Great reporting! Tomorrow night will be a great data point about whether you’re right on Edina/Andover. Edina returned 72 regular season goals, and added Connor (my take is top-line good but not blow-you-away good). A...

Re: Andover vs Edina

Brainerd plays “unranked” Blake on November 16... should be a good indicator if they are a contender this year.

Re: Andover vs Edina

Plus, Andover is more talented at every single position, except #1D and G. Those are key positions, but I don’t think that’s enough.

Andover vs Edina

There are some pretty good games this Thursday to kick off the season, but none better than this. Arguably 1 vs 2 for early bragging rights, ranking and potentially state tourney seeding implications. Two terrific teams - I count 16 D1 commits between them. Both extremely skilled at the top end, and...

Re: Pre-season scrimmage schedules

These are cobbled together, but I believe scores today at Blake were: NWC - Stillwater 2 - 1 Blake - Stillwater 3-2 Nwc - Sartell 1-2 Stillwater - Sartell 4-6 Blake - nwc 4 - 3 (goal 4 for blake was awarded, but not in the net - refs goofed - should have been 3-3) Blake - Sartell 5 - 3 Games were no...

Re: 2020 MS Goalie

I am interested to hear who's on the candidate list. Maybe Beeman from BSM? Maybe Pelkey behind a super strong Andover team?

Re: 2020 Ms. Hockey discussion

You’d make a case for all 3 being ahead of Delianedis? Mobley and Langseth are terrific, and have less support on their teams. I can see an argument. It’s wrong, but I can see it. But the third - a junior campaign of 7G and 18A? She’s a very good player, but not in the same conversation as the other...

Re: A & AA Section predictions

Rational, not rationale. I can hold two points simultaneously in mind - kids should play and have fun, and a state tournament should reflect something close to the best the state has to offer - without buckling under a perceived absence of logical cohesion. Can’t you? Given the depth of your exegesi...

Re: A & AA Section predictions

Umm, huh?

I love being quoted, but you find inconsistency at a positive statement about kids playing, and a critical statement about the MSHSL designed state tournament selection? Not sure if you’re serious or just trolling for controversy to stir things up. Either way, you keep doing you!

Re: AA

I'd also correct the implied slight on Andover about forward depth. They have some very talented young forwards - I'd put their likely third line against any teams' in the state. Minnetoka "solid top to bottom" ignores some potential depth/scoring issues at forward. They also finished the regular se...

Re: 7A 2019-2020

Procter has had a group that’s had a lot of success in girls around this age group. Blake plays them over Thanksgiving - should be a good test if they’re ready for a big stage.

Day 1!

Good luck to kids across the state - whether you are desperately hoping to make the team, or gearing up for a run at Ms Hockey, whether your team is going to cherish any wins you can get this year, or gunning for state titles - thank you for letting your fans watch you play! I hope one and all has a...

Pre-season scrimmage schedules

Blake is hosting NWC, Stillwater and Sartell for a round robin on Saturday, November 2. The mini-games start at 9, with an interesting match-up between Blake and NWC at 1:20.

Anyone have other pre-season scrimmage info?

I agree - that North 16 team is legit.

It appears I misunderstood the playoff process - do the winners Tuesday not have to play the respective Shattuck teams? I thought that was the process...

Re: Girls NIT Dscussion

Perhaps most notable for this group: the playoff games for the elite league are Tuesday this week. Tradition White and Black play eachother for the 19s, and MSP Grey and Black play for the 16s. Both games are at 815 at PIC, and are as good as hockey gets in Minnesota - go out and show your support f...

Re: Girls NIT Dscussion

This is just from scanning the results, but the TWELVE (not including ssm - tradition black, white and red, MSP grey, black, red and white, 9th grade Gemini, northern 19 and 16, Gentry and flow) Minnesota teams competing against all star teams from around the country were 33-6-3. Re: 2020 Ms. Hockey discussion

That may have sounded more critical than intended. Wayzata will be capable of beating just about anyone next year, and she is a very good player on a top 5ish team.

Re: 2020 Ms. Hockey discussion

She's a good player, but the third best forward on Wayzata. Is the senior class really weak enough that a third best on a team that won't contend (though will be solid) can be a top 10 player in the state?
