Re: OS Bridge season

Looks like OS is putting some of the details of this league on their website. The two selects teams look to be tough for anyone to handle, including Edina and Andover:

First game looks to be tonight at 5 - Breck vs. Holy Family.

Re: OS Bridge season

Interesting - that wasn’t within the MSHSL, the OS league or the XPL? So just played without any insurance coverage?

Re: OS Bridge season

Will be interesting to see the approach each team takes. I imagine a few may treat it like preseason scrimmages - rolling several lines, trying out combos, etc. Others will probably play them like regular season games - PPs, top lines seeing the ice more, etc. Differences in ability are present acro...

Re: XPL

Wrong thread! But that looks like awfully good hockey. I imagine the "Selects teams" will be pretty good - haven't seen rosters, but I assume all the Elite League kids that are not on teams participating.

Re: OS Bridge season

I may have been wrong on Blake's schedule - sounds like Stillwater is Tuesday, and Hill Murray is Thursday.

OS Bridge season

Same opening comment, different league. Games start next Tuesday (I believe). Can I humbly propose posting scores/comments/notable performances here? Games Tuesday that I'm aware of include: Hill Murray vs. Blake (two teams probably starting out the year outside the top 10) Benilde vs. Andover (two ...

XPL

This board is part-time Holy Family cult meeting, and part-time ghost town. But now that there's actualy (kinda/sorta) high school hockey to talk about, lets! XPL games started this week. No scores posted anywhere (that I'm aware of), no stats. Anyone watch any? Good games?

Since she obviously won't be eligible, you are going to have an amazing JV team! Congrats!

Recruiting window for '22s

Today is the first day '22s may be approached by college coaches (since the window closed with the rule change last spring). This year's group is a little bit of guinea pigs - both coaches and players. The rule changed last year, but '21s were already pretty far down the process - many top players w...

Re: Breck

Since you asked, I believe three of the 15 skaters that played regularly (so 20%), though there could be others I'm not aware of. Two are from Selects Academy (out of state) and one from Andover, and not to mention the goaltender who left then came back. The flip side for Edina is that a high school...

My campaign? Ok.

The 70s? Huh?

Back on topic: Breck should be AA.

Name one team with previously D1 committed kids who moved in from out of state for their junior and senior year. Take your time.

Was that supposed to be an argument against my point? I wasn’t saying they are the biggest, just that they are very big AND recruit nationally.

Re: Breck

Yes, but the reason a private school should be AA in spite of being small is they recruit kids for their teams - punch way above their enrollment weight. If we are kicking Breck out of A, how about we kick Edina out of high school hockey and make them play Shattuck, since they are a huge school, rec...

Re: State Tourney Games Thread

The tactical options change tomorrow and Saturday, too. Adding TV timeouts means having the kids you want on the ice significantly more. That has different advantages to different teams, but it seems like it takes away a big advantage for Andover given how they can roll three lines and expect all of...

Re: State Tourney Games Thread

Pretty crazy how deep and strong Andover is. Farmington focused on shutting down the dominant top line of Hemp-Nelson-Krause, and did, and Andover still scored six goals.

You guys are definitely on the way up - will be fun to see if you can topple Edina next year - I think you've got a shot!

Responding to nits: 41, 24, 22, 5 = 92 from seniors

Re: Coaching changes 2020/2021

I think the focus should be on the state tourney - should be a good one with a couple good quarterfinal games, and some good contests that follow. But since you mentioned it, I think you missed a senior - it was 92 out of 95. They clearly won’t score 113 goals as a group next year. But Eden prairie ...

Re: Ms. Hockey Finalists

Pretty hard to argue about Delianedis' consistency. She had three points in the two losses over the holidays. She has had 3 games in the last two seasons (now spanning 54 games) in which she's been held without a point. Langseth (just to pick one example) has had 8.

Re: Ms. Hockey Finalists

That's not a crazy ordering, by any means, but I think you (and Eagles93) are selling Langseth short. She has 63 points for a team that scored 86 goals. She had points on 73% of the goals for a third ranked team that still gives up almost 2 goals a game (unlike Andover, who wins on the back of domin...

Becca Macklin from Lakeville South looks like she's had a very good year statistically - was that a surprising omission from the 10?

Re: Special teams

Fair point. Their top two D are unquestionably very, very good, and that should lead to a very good PK - also weird (like the Blake stats).
