Re: 7AA 2019-2020

Im sure WDIO in Duluth gets a say too: not officially but we all know money talks. And they pay to televise the Section semi-finals and finals. My guess is they wouldnt be too happy having to send a crew to Blaine or Brainerd instead. 100% accurate. Not leaving Duluth under any circumstance. Money ...

Re: Future of Duluth Marshall

If a kid is playing for fun, Junior Gold should be an option. Not available everywhere, but those areas that have larger numbers where most of these problems as described exist offer it or will offer it if asked. I agree to a point. Jr. Gold is not for everyone. There is a reason they make the team...

Re: Future of Duluth Marshall

It's pretty easy to tout test scores and SAT results when all of the kids that go there come from families where Education is a big priority. I think that is big difference with a private school. The overwhelming majority of kids at Marshall come from families that have made education the priority....

Re: Future of Duluth Marshall

You're correct on numbers dropping in the area. I think it's a combination of cost and player movement. But If you count the Denfeld and Proctor kids that are playing in Hermantown, both of them would have had enough players for two Bantam teams. Fortunately for Proctor, they have large Squirt and ...

Re: Future of Duluth Marshall

Rumor is Hermantown Since the girls have in past. And they need another sheet of ice Hermantown is going to have to make a huge amount of cuts over the next 3-4 years. Their Bantam and PeeWee groups are huge and deep because of all the transfers and open-enrollees. Their Bantam AA team is ranked #3...

Re: Future of Duluth Marshall

Hermantown just outshot Duluth Marshall 48-4, winning 10-0. And no JV for Marshall. I’d say that program is officially dead. And they play AA???????? Hibbing is officially dead as well. Proctor and Denfeld are in great shape long term. Not dead forever, just dead in their current form. Something dr...

Bantams vs. High School

I am curious with Bantam tryouts, captains practices happening, and soon high school tryouts, what are your thoughts on kids entering their 2nd year of bantams jumping to high school? I have some thoughts on this, but would like to hear what you all think? I know there are many pros and cons and man...

Also it’s easy to whine about early departures until you have a child good enough to have the option to be one right?

Duluth Marshall! That’s not going to last long. Hermantown and Duluth East gobble up all local recruits. They moved to 7AA to protest the hamsters being in 7A. Please go back. 1. After the 1997 7AA final, in which East beat Hibbing, my brother, who was there, told me that after the game Randolph was taunting and swearing at the dejected Hibbing players. Maybe he thought they were taking cheap shots, but even so, that doesn't seem like the adult way to handle it. I was at...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

DM is not moving down I can see how you got that out of my comment, but that is not what I meant. I was indicating that there are AA players at Marshall that could potentially move to single A programs like Denfeld and Hermantown. Sorry.....I really was not clear on that with me previous comment.

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Just to add to the Duluth element. There is also potential for Duluth Marshall (AA) moves down to A. The program could be entering a very precarious stage in their history. Hermantown is not the only landing spot either. Duluth Denfeld (A) could be a landing spot with a lot of potential coming in to...

As I sat awake in bed wondering what I had done by posting in this forum I thought to myself. “Self, why don’t they have a relegation and promotion system like Sweden does? Seems silly that they'll play outdoors in -20 weather but not inside when it's a little colder.
Like I said, this is an assumption at this point. If either of the schools plan on canceling classes, I think the cancellation of the game is mandatory.

1/29 - Game Cancelations

Just got word that Duluth Marshall @ Hibbing, 1/29 - 7:30 PM has been canceled. No mention, but the assumption is that it is due to the dangerously cold temps expected over the course of this week.

Post 'em if you got 'em
