Re: The Hermantown Thread

I believe in my post I comment they should move up. I’ve felt that way for a long time. No arguments there. Just seems a bit odd he did not practice what he is now preaching when he no longer has a horse in the race. He’s made a major flip flop imo. He was advocating to go AA when he had a kid stil...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Maybe it is time for the MSHSL to look at a "Success Point" system for classification of schools? I have heard North Dakota does something like this in football. You get so many points per year based on if you make the State Playoffs and how far you go. 1 point for making the State playoffs, 2 poin...

I think you all have Duluth east over rated. We'll see.
That’s not a “you all” thing. These are the actual seeding for the playoffs. As an aside, there is a head-to-head matchup that helped determine this.

7A- (10) Hermantown, Hibbing, Cloquet, Duluth Marshall, Greenway, Proctor, International Falls, North Shore, Ely, Stella Maris Did DM drop down to A? Was assuming their program was dropping back to Class A as the opt up has been terrible to their program and they have been through like 3 coaches si...

I have been hearing some recent rumors that a couple of Section 7's single A teams are strongly considering a move up to AA. Any thoughts on who will be the next rising junior to commit? My guess is Shaugabay to North Dakota.
Shaugabay to UMD. Apparently. https://twitter.com/JessRMyers/status/1 ... 1478590464

Re: MSHSL Boys Hockey Reformatted

It is a unique idea. Of course anything like this requires some “tweaks”. Personally, I have always been a fan of the relegation format based on some sort of equation of yearly or bi-yearly regular season/playoff performance metric. Side note: Fellow Huskie Productions guy from waaaaay back in the d...

I don’t see the Minnesota high school model being imminently threatened. It is not being threatened. It is adapting. As it should. I have no problems with what Gentry or anyone else is doing. It certainly is not going to stop. The only thing I would add here is that schools that are making it work,...

Re: Section Realignment

One thing that struck me up north is Duluth Marshall continuing to opt up to AA. Wise has proven to be an excellent coach (and at the college level, to boot), and I’m sure they have longer term visions, but I figured DM would be tired of taking beatings and drop back down for a while to gain some t...

Good pace so far. EP seems to have a better jump so far, but South seems to be slow to get going. 1-0 at the end of One might be working in South’s favor.

I don’t know what others think, but the tourney this year is leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth...teams doing things I would argue “the wrong way” getting the glory...Gentry with it existing entirely for hockey and nothing else, EP with its history of transfers and a certain player on its team...

I know there are some changes due to Covid, and I am fine with all that. I am wondering about the all-tournament teams though. That seems like something they could at least put up on a full-screen graphic. They don’t have to bring the kids on the ice. Am I missing something here?

Re: Hermantown JV to play Dodge Co.

This is just crazy. So will Hermantown have a full line up or are that just running 10 players? Kind of confused Coach Andrews was quoted as saying he figured he would have close to 20-players available. I would imagine he was working the team chats to see who could go. One kid was leaving from his...
