Re: 7AA 2018-2019

It’s gonna be Duluth Marshall as I see them going back to A. Unfortunately, you're probably right. Marshall didn't have much even before they lost their best player to Juniors this year. The cupboard is bare and they will be lucky to win 3 games this year. Guessing we'll be seeing them in 7A next y...

Re: 7A - Thoughts

"There will be no better place in Northern MN to watch a Hockey Game." What is the criteria? I can think of several really good places to watch hockey on this side of northern Minnesota. I've been in all of them and I couldn't agree more. You'll never beat Hibbing Memorial, the Hipp, Miners, Snake ...

Re: 7A - Thoughts

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Another preposterous statement. Thanks! Sorry, sorry...PERPOSTEROUS. I sounded it out. Lol. Seriously though I think he is correct. If you look at the continuing grease fire that is the Duluth School system and how fast kids are leaving it and then combine it with a decent arena you ...

Re: Summer Hockey Notes by KarlEast

Last weekend’s Summer Hockey Festival at Braemar Arena in Edina offered a brief dose of hockey for those of us in need of some midsummer action. Twenty teams battled it out over the course of three days, giving the world its first real looks at Janne Kivihalme-coached Lakeville South, a somewhat im...

Hermantown 5 - Brainerd 4 Benilde 5 - Greenway 2 Mahtomedi 4, Duluth Marshall 2 Hermantown 6, BSM 0 Marshall will struggle badly this year. With what they have in the pipeline I don't think they'll have any choice but to opt back down. I really admire Flaherty for making the jump. He had some horse...

Is JerseyDave trying to take over for GrandMeadowHockeyFan? I don't know who that is, but I'm just killing time in the off-season. I have some Google searches and Twitter searches set up to check daily for Minnesota HS hockey news. Doesn't take too long and keeps me informed on what's going on. You...

Re: Eden Prairie's John and Luke Mittelstadt commit to Gophe

From fans outside of the EP bubble, objectively, what are these Middlestadt boys like? Personality wise and ethics wise? Are they good kids? Great kids and great work ethic. Luke, though a defenseman so tough to compare, is believed to be as "talented" as Casey was at that age. He's still young so ...

Braemar is one of the world’s great venues. It is amazing how well it has aged. Virtually unchanged and tradition-rich as a result. Anyone that doesn’t recognize Braemar’s greatness is kidding themselves. Some of the comments here are laughable. Headed there now. “A world great venue”. You need to ...

Re: 2018 elite league

Well, I say this as repeating what hundreds of hockey people tell me from all over the state of hockey. I’ve followed CEC home and away, like a puppy dog, to literally every game since 2010-2011. One of my favorite things to do at these rinks is talk to the locals at these rinks. Maybe it’s the opi...

Yes. Given the health implications concussions play not only legally in Minnesota but as a condition of returning to competition of all 4 major sports leagues. Greybeard cites his sources. The MSHSL, at best, pays lip service to state law....... Concussions are the public Health issues tabacco was ...

I’m not sure what public policy regarding busing outside a district you are referring to. Greenway buses go through Rapids and vice versa. Greenway is a big loser to Rapids in open enrollment. Rapids buses pick up these kids in Greenway. I stand corrected. It appears it’s up to each individual scho...

I don't have a huge problem with Alexandria, Hermantown, Mahtomedi, Orono, etc., playing at the Class A level. They are playing by the rules and standards that the High School League has set up. The High School League has also said you can petition to opt up if you want, but no where in its bylaws ...

I don't know if Greenway is turning into Hermantown or not, but Greenway should win 7A next year. They might only have a one year window, but they are actually better than Hermantown next year. Hermantown had a one year lag on transfers, and that should be enough for Greenway to break through. After...

I have no idea where Mack Motzko will end up. I'm sure there are quite a few folks who hope he's playing for the Crusaders next year.
