Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

I’m with Schozty. This is not anywhere near a big deal to me. The kid wants to play with the friends he grew up with. Every time some kids leaves early for juniors half you freak out about how there is nothing better than playing with the kids you grew up with, and here a kid is trying to do that b...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

I am glad MM is back at SCC. You can't fault him for the path he has taken. Sometimes there are twists and turns. Dad takes new job in the Cities Hmmm.. where should they we move to? A) Stay at SCC with your 'buddies'- part of the Team. OR B) Is there a progam/school that would offer a great opport...

I am not sure I am following. SCC is a private school. How does any of this apply to him? Am I missing something?
Private schools have the same transfer rules as public schools. They’re part of the MSHSL.

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

I have no dog in this fight and have stated I'm okay with him going back... But from a learning the rules standpoint, how is it he's allowed to go back and play if I quote the newspaper article "he will stay with friends and family during the season" Is it as simple as getting both AD's to agree? D...

Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?

He has a great record as HC for Edina. Tom Saterdalen and Willard Ikola are considered legends. Like Giles, they led prominent programs to several state titles with great players. Giles should be viewed in the same light. Lee Smith as well. So much fawning about Mike Randolph. Why not Giles? He's c...

Re: Youth hockey associations with both A and AA teams

In 218. Are their any? Only Hermantown, East and Moorhead. Only the 3 largest  (When I looked at the numbers a few years ago). East only had two Bantam Teams last year and combined with Denfeld for a third. Numbers should be a little higher this year. Moorhead had 4 last year. Hermantown shou...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

What about their PeeWeeAA though. They had a very good PeeWee group last year. Went to State but drew a tough Minnetonka team first game. Roseau was the other North Representative. They haven't had a good Bantam AA team in years. Randolph prefers to bring the top kids in house. Debatable but can't ...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

A few days and the tone of the comments is mildly against transfers, with several pointing out that the out-of-state aspect isn't as common - and may not be as bothersome - as movement within MSHSL schools. Trying to summarize multiple comments, so please nobody should feel like I'm saying exactly ...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

Funny Kilen didn't make the second tryout. More fishy business. I'm told he will prob. Be a 3rd liner at Hermantown. Very small and doesn't pass. Not sure who you've been talking to, but this kid looked really good at the Lakeview Summer Classic. Could easily be a 1st liner and is another great add...

I hope they all arrive and they fall flat on their face. That's a gross # of transfers for a school with that high of an enrollment.
Yep, that’s the only consolation with player movement. It gives you teams to root against and makes it so much sweeter when they lose. Especially in Class A.

Jeffy your hatred for Hermantown is old and tired, go to that thread and whine. Everytime a string is going good you have to try and bash Hermantown, Your East team has the best advantage in the state everybody who plays them in sections has a long drive besides Marshall. ????. R2, At what point should K just abandon the Lumberjacks and follow the Wilderness? Same parking spot? Have either of you ever met Knivsy? I have. Re: 7AA 2019-2020

Wayzata won AA State in 2016, GR in 2017 (after rising from the dead during the 3rd period vs ER at Amsoil). No one is denying Mike R. being an excellent coach, he clearly is. That said, the facts are DE hasn’t won AA State in going on 22 years & they play at home during the semifinals & Finals of ...

Holy Hound-dog......!! In the last 10 seasons, Duluth East has a 29-1 record in the Section 7AA tournament, with 9 state appearances. Going to state 6 times in a row, narrowly losing to Rapids in 2016, the eventual State Champion. I don't care if they go 5 and 20 during the regular season, It will ...

One question I have on this scenario, Is he really playing with his life long buddies and teammates? Maybe a few, but SCC is a private school that has players from many different towns that he would not have played with. Sure returning to play with his teammates from HS is likely a more accurate st...

Another Possible very tricky situation for mshsl But : There are options for the family No way would they put SCC in jeopardy in a very possible repeat title year It's not tricky at all.
