Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

Gov. Waltz is a politician by definition. He is on speed dial with the DNC and they will reward him. If you don’t believe me, then for God Sakes do some research on your own and make up your own mind instead of listening to what you see on Facebook. The Democrats didn’t create the Coronavirus. That’...

Re: Role of the Minnesota State High School League

In case you missed it in yesterday's Star Tribune, an article on the transfer rule: https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-high-school-athlete-eligibility-rules-get-fresh-scrutiny/570753382/ In short, it quotes a legislator who believes the transfer rules should be less stringent than many of us com...

Re: Coaching Changes - 2020-21

Dan Stauber has stepped down at Proctor. What! That's crazy!! So now will Pionk run the entire show now???? That's too bad. Stauber and Pionk seemed to make the perfect 1, 2 punch...... He resigned from a nice gig at UWS for Proctor and the opportunity to build a program. He must have an offer in h...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

Raising taxes to fund high school sports when our communities and local businesses are experiencing shutdowns with 20+% unemployment is likely not realistic. I think it all depends on the community, of course. And that’s the beauty of a referendum, the property owners decide. You’re talking about a...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

FWIW, no MSHSL athletic department can survive without the income football generates, unless we allow fans there is no reason to play the games. So would you say that the loss of football could cause a domino effect on other sports for the upcoming season? It’s hard to envision a school committing ...

Several of you are saying the flu killed 60,000 people in 2018. That is with a vaccine available that a lot of people took. Think about it.
I’m not exactly sure what your point is, but 98% of those people that died did not take the flu shot.

But I'm telling you that this is bigger and more fun than if they actually played. Once they drop that puck, the Value of this whole thing disappears! This mindset is why the NCAA steps in when it can for college basketball to ensure games like Wichita St. beating Kansas in 2015. From a newspaper t...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

[It seems odd to me that some of those same west suburban teams are now willing to play the Duluth-area team that shall not be named. Stang - the reason is those Western teams were losing players to Breck. It's a no win situation if Wayzata (for example) played Breck and lost to them. Then - Breck ...

Thank the almighty that we live in a country that allows people responsible for scheduling a high school activity to do as they see fit.

Re: The Hermantown Thread

It’s weird anyone is worried about “a Class A team” when the only one that is a) in close proximity to a usually good HS program, and b) has an overwhelming consensus agreeing they are in no way representative of Class A is Hermantown. Warroad plays Roseau Cathedral plays St. Cloud East Grand Forks...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Blaine and MG both played a Class A team Oops, my bad. I missed Armstrong/Cooper. Didn’t even realize they were an A team. So those two played a whopping one Class A team. I see Lakeville South played one also. East played two, so it looks like they have them all beat. Denfeld, which is required by...

4. You COMPLETELY choose to bring up several nonsensical smokescreens while ignoring the obvious point: H’town & D East are close to each other. If I drive the whatever ten miles how many schools with decent hockey programs will I pass? Eden Prairie can more easily play Minnetonka, Chaska, Edina, B...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Since 2008 Edina & Eden Prairie have played in the championship game 5 times each. Since the schools are in proximity, it would be strange if their hockey teams refused to play each other. Of course it would. They are in the same class, same conference. It would be strange if East didn’t play Cloqu...

Dude, there is no good Class A team in SW suburbs. Grab a map. SW Christian Academy? Yeah. Have them play Chaska. That exciting Providence-Wayzata matchup? What are you wrangling for, Kennedy-Edina? Mahtomedi is in no way, shape, or form a rival of any team is the SW suburbs. Don’t hurt yourself cr...

Okay, so Eden Prairie can schedule Brainerd, Moorhead, East and Cloquet, but not Mahtomedi, because they aren’t in the SW Suburbs. Got it. You obviously don't got nothing. They can schedule Mahtomedi. Lee Smith isn't a PLEASE BAN ME, takes on all comers, and has a track record that shows the Eagles...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Do the NHL Scouts ask you what happens when Edina, EP, Minnetonka and Wayzata play Mahtomedi every year? That could be a hell of a rivalry!! Top Metro A team against top Metro AA teams. Why won’t those teams make it happen? Why would they, Mahtomedi plays their natural geographic rivals Stillwater ...

Stang, Forest Lake can play whoever they want. Nobody cares and there’s no great natural rival. Oh yeah, it...

Kniven, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but, I can assure you that not only do most of the high school coaches in the state (A & AA) have an opinion regarding Hermantown, they are definitely concerned with what their continued placement in Class "A" is doing to the state tournament on a macro level ...

When I initially started this thread it was to bring attention to the fact this would affect everyone, even the high school hockey fan. I knew that the potential for it to be politicized was there. So is every thread related to Hermantown. I was banned from Facebook for 30 days for this statement.....

Denfeld has a Punchers Chance against them next year on paper. But that’s today’s paper. We have no idea who will be playing in Hermantown next year. We’ll know more at the June tryouts when Andrews can get a look at all of the kids that want to come and play there.

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Stated by poster previously. I’m not wining. I’m jealous that kids grow up in other youth programs dreaming of playing for Hermantown. It’s just a fact. Hermantown isn’t going anywhere. No reason too. The misperception that Hermantown fans and others from other programs aren’t getting from this who...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

I am not a believer that you have to move to Hermantown to be noticed. Sorry Stay in school. Stay in your school! So Hermantown builds a D1 feeder like they have and continue to play at the lowest level possible for high school playoffs? Sounds like a free ride to the x to me. Maybe University of M...
