If you're Grand Rapids how do you go about trying to stop Mittelstadt? Do you try to get Mattson's line out there against him and hope they can hold him to a point or two and play for the low-scoring 3-2/2-1 matchup? Or do you put your second or third line against Mittelstadt and go for the fast pac...

Re: goalies

schillings needs to stop playing on his stomach. he could have stopped that first goal if he wouldn't have fallen on his gut. Burnsville goalie is small. Crashing the net could force a goal just by pushing him in the net. Here's hoping Wayzata regroups after that less than stellar first period. I p...

Purely hypothetical but what chance do you guys think a combined SPA/Cathedral team would have going up against Hermantown on Friday? I still feel like if you took the best players from both of these teams it's still and extremely close game with Hermantown.

You can say unconfirmed but the name is out there and from what I've heard it's true That's truly disappointing if true. As someone who isn...

The Mac holds about 2700 and it will be sold out. Little falls brings the home ice advantage to the MAC. It might actually feel like an away game for the crusaders Little Falls fans definitely travel well and I agree that they will most likely outnumber the Cathedral fans, especially when it comes ...

TRF/EGF should be #3 now. The 4/5 game will likely be a private party unless Little Falls can pull the upset. The best part about this is that unless Little Falls pulls off the upset Hermantown is guaranteed to face a private in the Semi's. Not saying any of those three privates have even a sniff o...

Re: SECTION 8A CHAMPIONSHIP 2-25

Curious on everyones thoughts, and also would the winner be seeded at state or random draw? Assuming that Hermantown, Breck, and Mahtomedi take care of business I would think that the winner of this game is basically locked into the 4 seed and will most likely take on the winner of 6A. I think if Li...

LOL, Yes, that Section was a doozy! From 2010-2013 Hermantown outscored their opponents in the Section Playoffs 84-8! It's amazing they survived. Remember fellas, it's not that Hermantown is good, it's that the rest of Class A just sucks. Just remember, there was no guaranteed win in t...

What's the biggest scare or threat that Hermantown has had in the last 5-7 years? The closest playoff game they've had in the last 7 years is a 3-2 section final victory over Denfield in 2010. Back in 2012 I remember the Hermantown/Cathedral final being pretty hyped up and a back and forth game yet...

I find this section final to be remarkably similar to the final last year. A number 4 seed who competed all year but was unable to get the big section win, who then won a close 4/5 matchup and before knocking off the #1 seed in their own building thanks to outstanding goaltending and great team play...

You have to respect the work and effort that Little Falls has put forth in many games this season with it finally paying off with their Semifinal victory. They played Apollo extremely tough the first time around, taking them to overtime and they absolutely brought it yesterday. Apollo is the hardest...

I'll take Cathedral 5-2. They handled them in Alex last time and I would expect the same tonight. I think the only way they slip up is if they get caught looking ahead to a potential cross-town rivalry on Saturday against the Sartell/Tech winner.

I wouldn't be surprised if Tech made some noise against Sartell in the 3-6 match-up. I don't think they have the consistency to make a run and win more than 2 games but they gave Apollo a run for their money the last time those two teams played and I think they could steal one in a cross-town rivalry.

This is a section I could see going to any of the top seeds, however I think Apollo has to be the clear favorite. With that being said, I could see any of the 4-7 seeded teams pulling off an upset and beating Apollo, Cathedral, or Sartell in the quarters or semi's.
