Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

I am not sure I am following. SCC is a private school. How does any of this apply to him? Am I missing something?

Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?

You would think of the players that get cut from Edina. You could take those boys that were cut, put a team together, it would compete for an A championship every year, and be able to beat many AA squads. I think they would be pretty good, but this might be an overreach. Possibly ranked 8-12 or so ...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020

Kind of a big deal for 8AA. Menghini was Brainerd’s leading returning scorer.

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Speaking of Goalies... How about the Big Pick Up of EGF getting Austin Cooley to move across the border to play with them. Played on Team North Dakota for 2 Years and last year was very good for the U16 Sioux Falls Jr. Stampede. Big RECRUIT by the Greenwave... 8A will be very tough but HF and Tonka...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

Anybody know if Noah Rupprecht is transferring to Cathedral or if that is a typo? I noticed one typo already (Paul Huglen is a junior not a senior). So could be another. How about any info on Slukynsky or Bushy? Those would be the other two notable section 8 omissions off the top of my head. Before ...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

If this is pure hogwash why is Jeff Panzer's house for sale in Grand Fork's? I've heard it's a done deal that his kid is playing in EGF next year. A lot of people in EGF are going to have to quit throwing stones now that they live in a glass house. Both the goalie this coming year and Lund left GF ...

Re: 2019 HP U17 or U16 Boys Rosters?

The real shame with MN Hockey’s HP program is the money they rake in from families all over the state who will never have a shot at making it to National Camp no matter how well they perform at the tryout. The hockey elites, and by that I mean those with influence in MN Hockey, will always get the ...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

I want to say they arrived as bantams. Thinking second year but somebody could correct me. I remember Roseau’s strand/yon teams crushing Warroad in youth and when they got to high school they were close, really exciting games. I think Warroad may have even won more of the games. With the groups comi...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

I'm sure Duluth would love to host Can’t do that. The northern teams would always win every single year due to home ice advantage. Could rotate it between Duluth and the cities. Then every other year you’ll have a northern team and a southern team as section champs since the home team always wins t...

I’m guessing DJ had one of the metro arenas in mind. Lol

Although then we wouldn’t be able to watch all the games at MSG, er I mean Amsoil.

That was never going to happen.
With all due respect, my info was from a source more credible than yourself.
Yes, really credible.
Just saying it didn’t happen so not as credible as you stated or thought. You presented it as a done deal. It clearly wasn’t.

Re: New State Tournament Format (or my day dream)

I agree actually. The number one option to me is to get more northern teams to opt up. After that I like leaving the sections basically mixed north/metro. I like having two chances for northern teams to make it even if it means there is a chance of no northern teams. To me really the biggest issue ...

Re: New State Tournament Format (or my day dream)

Just having fun, this is what a 32 team format could look at. I simply merged in the top 20 AA teams with the top 12 A teams from the past year Let's play hockey rankings . Understand that this format may not make the best sense and folks smarter than me could come up with the exact formula. But it...

Re: AA school fielding an additional A team

This does bring up an interesting thought exercise. Could Edina's (or Maple Grove's, or Minnetonka's, etc) Junior Gold team win Class A state? Edina (or other large metro associations) could likely put together a JV/Junior Gold team that would certainly have a chance. Their Bantam A and PeeWee A te...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

I couldn’t give you Colby’s name before you mentioned it now and I was there. Boucha is remembered because he was hurt, same as Joe Thiesman..... great player or not, the injury is their defining moment. Hockey is a niche sport. Football is not. Attend both as I have, Minnesota hockey is not what i...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

Opinion.....the Texas high school football tournament is now the best. Football doesn’t lose their “top” players to crap junior leagues. Hockey loses some players to the USHL or NTDP but still lose some to tier 2 and tier 3 leagues. Do you watch it? I'm curious because it has SO MANY DIVISIONS, whi...

Alex and EGF vs Moorhead the last four years 0-5-1 The two years that Bemidji went I think they went like 1-4-1 against Bemidji or something like that. A previous post of mine went over the bantam results this year in which both teams got mopped up by their top would be competitors in 8AA. You are r...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

I don’t think anybody is saying we should go back to a 1 class system. I just think there are AA teams that play A and those teams should move up to keep with the spirit of allowing other teams a chance to play at state instead of having two state tournaments that have equal caliber teams so the fa...

Re: 8AA 2019-2020

I would go... 1-2. Roseau or Moorhead 3. STMA 4-6. Buffalo, St Cloud, Brainerd in any order 7. Bemidji 8. Rogers I think Roseau is closer to Moorhead than some people think. Roseau has been the better team the last two years at the bantam level and that is with their best 9th grade forwards playing ...

Just a note related to the high school level that Hermantown, Mahtomedi, and St. Cloud kids are all playing AA at this age. Some of their major competitors at high school might be different than they are now.

Re: Duluth East at Andover, Section 7AA Final

What would happen if they moved the 7AA final to the X? DJ would be happy because it is a better arena and all the northern fans would keep their mouths shut because the game is played on the ice right? Seriously I always root for northern teams but some of the arguments made for keeping it at Amsoi...
