This week Coach Flaherty was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Marshall School. This is a short video showing the legacy he has left.

Re: RIP Brendan Flaherty

Very sad day in the hockey community. My son that just graduated this year was his last varsity player that played for him before stepping down. He was a great coach and a great person that fought for all his players. He will be greatly missed. https://www.wdio.com/sports/former-duluth-marshall-boys...

I noticed in Minnesota - Scores that there is a North and South half in the standings for 7AA. Are they having separate playoffs with the winner of each half playing off for championship?
I see East is done for the year due to Covid issues.
Yes they are.

Re: 7AA 2020-2021

With Duluth East season sadly coming to a tough end like this, I would imagine Grand Rapids has a bye in the first round. The interesting thing is the kid in question played both JV and Varsity shifts against Hermantown this week. Then last night after the 1st period of the Cloquet/Hermantown JV ga...

Re: AA Rankings for 2/21/21

Duluth East had 2 more seniors quit after the last game. One quit after Hermantown. This brings them 5 on the year. They have now also had to cancel the next 2 JV games.

The local rumor is Denfeld is off for both JV and V until 2/2. Not sure what that means for their game on 2/2 vs. GR.

Up in the Northland, I think our 2 tops goalies are Jacob Walsh of Cloquet and Jacob Snyder of Duluth Denfeld. Both were on Team Volocity for the HSE League this last year.

Re: MSHSL Oct 1st Meeting (Boys Hockey Season Fate)

Dear Minnesota High School Hockey Coaches, The decision from the MSHSL to reduce the games and time with our kids comes as a disappointment. Our Minnesota Hockey Coaches Association spent a significant amount of time collecting data and presented several plans which would have provided for the safet...

Re: MSHSL Oct 1st Meeting (Boys Hockey Season Fate)

Although schools in the cities are looking at going back into the classroom we are seeing some surging numbers in the greater Duluth area. Cloquet just announced next week 7th - 12th are going to hybrid from in person. And Carlton did the same a few weeks ago. I also now my kid's local team had 2 ki...

Covid Masks while Playing?

Has anyone heard of any other rinks requiring masks on players while playing? We received a message last night from our coach that starting today at MARS in Duluth the players will need to wear masks during STP. It did state that the mask can removed if breathing becomes difficult during rigorous ac...

By no means was I trying to throw any of those teams under the bus. I should have just said high-end AA programs vs. lower A programs. Ben Johnson is a personal friend of mine and we are currently looking at playing Ely in place of our canceled game vs. Mounds View.

I agree with Schotzy as I am also a parent of a current Topper. Yes, there are probably a ton of stats about private vs. public. I am a graduate of one of the local high schools and back in the day though it was insane that someone would pay for high school. But what everyone needs to remember it is...

Yes, very tough times at Marshall where we are on our 3rd coach in 3 years. 1st line Dakota Oman (5-10-15) Xavier McNulty (6-3-9) Vance Johnson (2-4-6) 2nd Line Brendan Pfahl (0-1-1) Sam Aamodt (0-0-0) Karter Mckinzie (0-0-0) The 3rd and 4th lines would have issues playing in all the other local A p...

Duluth Marshall! That’s not going to last long. Hermantown and Duluth East gobble up all local recruits. They moved to 7AA to protest the hamsters being in 7A. Please go back. It’s embarrassing 😐 Hey Kniven! Yes, it is pretty embarrassing watching my kid play at Marshall. NOT!!! The move to AA had ...
