Re: 7AA 2019-2020

Most Greenway people expect Clafton to leave at some point but if he were to get the Rapids job the timing really is bad. I hope he understands the bad spot he’ll put Greenway in. I assume Sertich would take over. His style of coaching is very different. Nothing like adding fuel to a rivalry. I tot...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

R2, At what point should K just abandon the Lumberjacks and follow the Wilderness? Same parking spot? Have either of you ever met Knivsy? I have. Yes, he says some crazy ass PLEASE BAN ME on the board. But you would be hard pressed to meet a better guy. He’s done a ton for local Youth. I would miss...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

Seems to me Elk River is turning into Hibbing hockey. As far as nobody wanting to stay at home for puck. Is Elk River HS hockey finished as a top program as Hibbing? It does seem Elk players don’t go to other high schools to play but to juniors though. Well, at least ER hasn't turned into Cloquet h...

As of a today Galatz is off the "Northern" HSEL roster and I didn't see him on any other roster... Not sure what that means. (Juniors?)
He’s playing for the Wilderness before and after the high school hockey season.
Will he be at Cloquet for hs season?

Awful if true. What's worse is that I have a feeling this kid will go to Hermantown. Hermantown will gladly take him. Just one more in a long line of transfers to the Small Town Class A Darlings. Just have to cut one more Hermantown kid that has played and given his all since Mites. Easy Peas...

Not shocking to hear Langenbrunner news, but sucks for CEC. I also heard yesterday that another CEC skater may be leaving. Will leave it to someone else to say who if/once it is confirmed. Awful if true. What's worse is that I have a feeling this kid will go to Hermantown. Good thing they ran...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

If the Langenbrunner transfer rumors are true, it would really cap off a bewildering plummet for a Cloquet run that was supposed to have them among the best in AA for 3 years. Talented players magically transferring to Cloquet as bantams, a head coaching carousel, and a likely too-influential parent...

What in the world is going on with Hibbing boys hockey? It’s very unfortunate. 16,000 + population town in the range. Somebody please shed some light..... Re: Early Departures 2019-2020

1. After the 1997 7AA final, in which East beat Hibbing, my brother, who was there, told me that after the game Randolph was taunting and swearing at the dejected Hibbing players. Maybe he thought they were taking cheap shots, but even so, that doesn't seem like the adult way to handle it. I was at...

Net P, thanks for the stimulating post. Iconoclasm is always a delicious treat, especially when deserved, which in the case of Randolph may or may not be, I don't know. Strange to hear there may be some early departures from DE. Although Randolph does work annual magic of getting his team to the tou...

This will put tremendous pressure on the remaining high schools in the area (MIB, Mesabi East, Cherry, Northeast Range, Ely, North Woods, Chisholm) to keep their students and not lose them to open enrollment. This new school could really make it tough on the remaining small schools to maintain fina...

That makes them the largest Class A school in the Section. This will certainly make them a contender for the #2 seed every year. The downside is that you cut in half the number of kids that will be playing high school hockey. I also wonder how this will affect the youth hockey programs at each comm...

Ah, that's right. That puts it at 985, close to Grand Rapids' enrollment.

Re: 7A - Thoughts

Looks like Virginia and Eveleth-Gilbert will be combining schools. Enrollment for hockey will increase to 761, just a shade higher than Hibbing's 746. If Hermantown ever leaves, the new VMIBEG team should be a perennial top 3 seed in 7A.

Warroad and everyone else in Section 8 better get on the recruiting trail if they want to keep pace with EGF. The starting goalie next year is a transfer from Grand Forks who sat out last year.
