Re: EGF Thread
FYI, none of this is really new. Capture.PNG I think this post from 5 years ago deserves context. First off, no dog in the fight in this argument and I have no clue what is going on currently in EGF other than they have a great youth program right now. I like you rainier had been told EGF was getti...

Geez Louis! People are allowed to move. I’m not going to play Sherlock Holmes here but I’m pretty darn sure every metro school has at least 2-5 move ins where parents have kids that play a sport..hockey/basketball/synchronized swimming etc. I feel really bad for the Manitoba Elks team that now are ...

Re: EGF Thread
Well, what do you know, I found another one. There's a kid on the PWAA team that was an over point-per-game player this season, and it appears he played for his hometown team in Manitoba as recently as a year ago.
But I'm sure there aren't any others, right?

Re: EGF Thread
That's great to see. Hopefully that is the reason for their fantastic success, and not from having talent open enroll or transfer there, and other programs can implement the same.

EGF Thread
In the spirit of the Hermantown thread, I'd like to start one for EGF. I had heard rumblings of significant incoming talent to EGF, and their ability to compete with the very best in AA at youth has me thinking these rumblings are true. And there are those who say there is nothing to see here, which...

Re: The Rise of the North in Coming Years?
Well, you are wrong. You like to stir things up on this board but seldom provide something original. Yes, Panzer was a good (very) player and he came from Grand Forks to play high school hockey. But you are implying that EGF is recruiting kids to play in EGF as peewees. Why? Because you heard someo...

Re: The Rise of the North in Coming Years?
:!: None!! Ever hear the name Panzer? You can't possibly believe there aren't any open enrollees at EGF. You found one... But when did Panzer play peewees in EGF? Elliott, you realize it never ends well for you when you play the "what transfers?", "what open enrollees?" game you...

Re: The Rise of the North in Coming Years?
Outside of Hibbing looking at the youth I think Delano is your other best bet. Others in mix: Thief River Falls, Northfield, Northern Lakes, Monitcello looking at recent youth hockey results over the past 4 years. The game changer is that while those teams has all had success at the A youth level H...

Re: The Rise of the North in Coming Years?
Would love to see Hibbing make a run at a title or two. Would give me renewed interest. It will be interesting to see if a team besides Mahtomedi, SCC, Warroad, EGF or maybe Orono can win an A title. Outside of Hibbing looking at the youth I think Delano is your other best bet. Others in mix: Thief...

Re: Way Too Early Class A Ranking for 2024-25
:D As you point out, Hibbing will close the gap with Hermantown significantly, Warroad will take a solid step back (and may not be the favorite in 8A for the foreseeable future), and Northfield is hit hard by graduation, yet is still the 1A favorite. Hopefully we'll see some new blood at the tourney...

Re: Way Too Early Class A Ranking for 2024-25
This is great. I did a little digging to see how much scoring top A teams were returning, and I'd agree with most of your rankings. The only things I'd predict are: -EGF will be #1 with a bullet. They should be incredibly deep. -Northern Lakes higher, as high as #6. -Monticello higher, as high as #1...

Re: A Rankings for 2/4/24
Only 6 class A games for CEC all year? Bonkers. I wonder if that's due to the transition from AA to A, or are they planning on out-Hermantowning Hermantown as far as playing a AA-heavy schedule every year? And when was the last regular season Hermantown finished with so few wins? Even if they win th...

Re: Section 7A 23-24
Great game between CEC and Hibbing. After an even 1-1 first, the Jacks took over completely and went up 4-1 after two. Hibbing punched back though, and got it to 4-3, but CEC completely shut down Hibbing when they had an extra attacker at the end. Hibbing needs their goaltending and pp to improve if...

Re: R.I.P. Adam Johnson
Seeing Adam play in HS rekindled my love for HS hockey. He was a fantastic player and you knew you might see something special every time he took the ice. It was great to see him realize his dream of playing in the NHL. Adam single-handedly almost beat Hermantown at the 2011 tourney. It was an epic ...

Re: 2023-24 Preseason A Rankings
Hibbing is too low. :P Great work, as always! You're lucky to have just a few players we're waiting on to find out definitively if they're back or not in Class A. Lots of the prep work for AA is done, but I can't in good faith post anything for about 2 more weeks. Nice stuff, Class A Guy, and I thi...

Re: The Rise of the North in Coming Years?
I think you give Hibbing a year or two to get bigger and stronger (hard to play against guys three years older than you are) and they're going to have a couple year run near the top for A. Like any smaller program (in the city or out-state) they will need to hold all of the players for the full run...

Re: 2023-2024 New Section Alignment?
If those numbers are used, that would put Rock Ridge in AA anyway, if my math is correct. Edit: Looks like RR at 1181, so they would still be opting up to AA
Side note, it seems Proctor/Hermantown girls would be AA also.
Bemidji would no longer be an opt up.
