Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Sounds like Jack Stark, goalie from Chaska is leaving to U16 in Sioux Falls. Interesting move to say the least... given the senior he split time with last year is now gone.

Re: USHL Draft on May 6th

While probably a rare event I do know of a goalie who in 2018 told USHL teams he wasn’t interested because he was going to college full time. I suspect there are kids who see engineering, medicine, or other things as their future and not hockey. Maybe not consistently true to USHL teams, this is 10...

Re: USHL Draft on May 6th

Posting here since it doesn’t really even deserve its own thread, but it’s always a nice preview to some of the top players for NEXT YEAR’s ushl draft. WHL draft last Thursday (6 MN 04s selected): Cruz Lucius-Gentry, 8th rd-161 Seattle Jack Seaverson-Chaska, 9th rd-197 Vancouver Charlie Stramel-Rose...

Re: Top MN Hockey This Weekend

The one goalie thing is what gets me. Not as sure at the 17 level, but there were at least 3 at the 16 level who are national camp caliber. One didn’t have the “stats,” and they obviously aren’t going to send 3, but at least do 2?

Re: Scout's perspective

What is neutral zone hockey? I never heard of it, are they affiliated with NHL teams? Good article No they are not. They basically do scouting reports and articles on junior, college, and NHL prospects. Mostly pay-to-view, but every once in a while they’ll do an “unlocked” story like this. Unlike t...

North Branch, Dodge County, Coon Rapids...... and no Edina skaters? 🤷🏿‍♂️
No Minnetonka either. On surface appears no EP as well but Batchelder and L Mittelstadt have auto-bids to Nattys.

Incredible that the top 3 Minnesotan kids and 5 in the top 100 on the final CSS list came through at least several years of Chaska Chan system and Breakaway . Big tribute to coaches out there
True adding in Brink and Pitlick. I believe all five of them attended Breakaway Academy.

Herbs Brooks Holiday Classic tournament field announced. Still Gold-Silver-Bronze-Open divisions for boys field. Incredible the difference two years can make for the Gold division. A nice tournament for other teams to play in though!

Re: NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings

One of the highlights in this category is the rise of LaCombe. From NO ONE’s radar a couple years ago to being on the edge of the 1st round. Late bloomer who grew up in EP, moved and played AAA out in Los Angeles then to Shattuck for his Bantam and High School career. Growing 7/8 inches and 40lbs S...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Honestly I think it is dumb that you have to play multiple years of juniors to play D3 hockey. NCAA D3 should make a freshman age limit of 19. You've just taken away the incentive for a kid not Div. I committed upon completion of HS to even try to get there. I fail to see what is so evil about a ki...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

I don't know how everyone else feels but the older college hockey gets, the less I'm interested in it I switched my preference from the NHL to college many years ago. But if I'm going to be watching a bunch of 21-25 year olds, I'll probably just switch back to the NHL I certainly hope college coach...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

I think, total conjecture, that the reason the top team is tier 1 is that those players want to compete together for a full season as opposed to the mid-Nov thru Feb schedule of MSHSL. Same reason as Shattuck? We're all speculating here, but it is a great deal different from Shattuck. Most of the k...

This is all moot. Gentry’s top team doesn’t play MSHSL. They play tier 1.

Re: 2019-2021 Section Assignments

The MSHSL has made it very clear they dont care about competitive balance they care about GEOGRAPHICAL balance. Then how in the hell do they split up Lakeville North and South? Exactly because of geography, actually. There are 7 teams south of Lakeville South. Add in Lakeville North and South to th...

Drew Holt for 17s and Trey Fechko for 16s are most notable omissions in my eyes, though as I’ve stated in other threads the Holt one doesn’t surprise me much (edgeless will disagree  ) As for SSM and Gentry, at least the tier 1 Gentry kids, I can understand the gripe. Especially for those who ...

This is just some random guy who is a Chicago Blackhawks fan. Not an NHL scout. I agree 15/16/17s is good for exposure IF you make it to 54s or St. Cloud (15s). The spring festival is less scouted. NCAAs are in full force as are the final weeks of the USHL / NAHL seasons. Some go though. My comment is more about 18s / Seniors - Ted Brill Great 8 is a huge fundraiser with littl...

They don't typically have that many move ins. Last year was a bit of an anomaly with 2 (Motzko and I think Kittleson. One other that transferred from HF already lived in the district and previously played for Tonka youth teams), the 2018 team had only Brink I believe. Depends how you look at it. Ne...

Edina will definitely take a dip on older talent next year Tonka Joe Brink still recovering from injury early last season , hopefully in good shape for next fall varsity Minnetonka will be fine, agreed.
