Re: Games Thursday 1-17-19

4-0 Tonka over EP. Just looking at the box score that’s as classic a Minnetonka game as you’ll see. Teams stay with them through 2 and a half periods and then a quick couple goals and an empty netter later it looks like a blowout. However I thought this was still an uncharacteristicly sloppy game fo...

Re: Games Thursday 1-17-19

Update: didn’t realize until now that Miller for Minnetonka is out, resulting in a shake up of D pairings and splitting up Docter and Luedtke. That could explain the sloppiness. Miller was scratched for unspecified reasons. Crull was paired with Docter on the top D unit, I think, and Luedtke was pa...

Re: Games Thursday 1-17-19

0-0 still after 2 with EP-Tonka. Man, I haven’t been this unimpressed with Minnetonka in the last year and a half (I missed their game with Duluth Marshall though). Credit to EP for a strong forecheck and their D with good gap control not allowing Tonka’s forwards any time or space in neutral zone. ...

Re: Games Thursday 1-17-19

0-0 after one in EP-Tonka tilt. Good breakaway chance for Skippers but that’s about it. Some sloppy play by Tonka’s d core but their smart and conservative system prevented it from resulting in much for EP. Jensen didn’t do much but Rudrud and Lengefels for EP looked good. Update: didn’t realize un...

Wolfe Edina 962 Finally someone besides me noticed this If you are going to include Wolfe (who is a solid goalie imho) then you should also include Swenson from Andover who has also played 3 games and has a .970 save percentage and a 0.33 GAA Not to take anything away from EITHER Andover goalie, bu...

Re: Possible Mr. Hockey Finalists 2018-2019

At this point I would give Brodzinski and Jensen the leads, but Luedtke and Doctor should be right there as they lead top ranked Tonka in scoring as defensemen and they are the dominating in the defensive end as well. You’re right on 3 of the 4. Docter won’t win. If it’s going to a forward it’s Bro...

Where was Hale playing this year prior to joining the Magicians?
Toiled his way around USHL after leaving Mpls early. 4th line and healthy scratch in Dubuque and Sioux City (might be missing one in between) for most of last season and a half. Good to see he’s found a spot.

Chanhassen (who just beat Champlin albeit without Boynton in net) lost to Kennedy 2-0. Let the transitive property continue to fly. Definitely a game that Chanhassen shouldn’t lose, but Kennedy has improved significantly after a brutal start to the season. They have snuck up on a few teams now. Yea...

Blaine 8 - Holy Family 2. Thought this one was going to be closer. I know HF is down and Blaine is up, and that HF’s recent wins have almost all been vs Single A (mostly weak Single A) teams, but still. Anybody at the game to provide context on if the game was as much a blowout as score suggests?

Awesome story of a kid who made Bantam B2 as a first year and barely failed to make Bantam AA as a second year working hard and pursing his dream. Congratulations to this young man.

Re: Games Thursday January 10, 2019

Some nice games last night but also a lot of blowouts. Surprised to see teams with the depth of Blake and Chaska continuing to score goals in running time blowouts with their star players. I always figured that was the time for the third and fourth line guys to get on the board. I don’t know about ...

Re: Games Thursday January 10, 2019

In a somewhat surprising game Jefferson over BSM 3-2. Not concerned about Benilde they’re a young team and losses like this can help them grow. Jefferson is, despite some blemishes, putting together an okay season so far. Wins over CEC, an apparently decent East Ridge team (5-2), and now BSM with a ...

Can anyone tell me about SW Christian? Stellar goalie and some nice young players. For the most part they’ve been playing some of the worst Single A teams in the ...

Re: Games Wednesday & Thursday

Wouldda been lots more fun if BSM would’ve stayed outta the box. BSM is playing better, was nice to give Tonka some challenge. This is how actually a lot of Tonka’s games have been this year. Teams play them very close for 2 periods and then Tonka’s depth outlasts teams or other teams push and get ...

Re: Schwans Cup

It was discussed in a thread over the summer but it’s way down there now. I think the breaking point was the strange dates initially for this year’s tournament (they did move gold back to before New Years) The main reasons for wanting a change and for most top south and west suburb teams likely stay...

These are actually pretty good right now, give or take a couple of spots in either direction for some teams. Always interesting to see how various formula-based rankings shake out!

Re: What's not clicking for Chaska?

59, woulda, shoulda, coulda and I think this might happen is what this forum is. I think Chaska has a good team, not many HS teams can boast 4 D1 committed players & they have a decent chance of reaching the 2AA Final. But right now, subject to change, Tonka stands alone. You have to respect this g...

Well, that wasn’t easy. My guide here, as usual, is a team’s record against quality opponents, and at this point in the season, one result in a certain direction can be a fluke, while two is a trend.
Karl, when can we expect another podcast episode? Feels like it’s been a long time!

Let’s not forget about the goal Chaska kicked in while were reminiscing about a game that took place 8 days ago. Homer much, BB? This could also be titled “WHL Draft Pick to JGA.”

Not sure if I’ve ever heard of that happening before at least in MN. Who knows maybe he’ll find a home in juniors or midgets next season.

BSM On the edge of top 10 (no particular order) Hill Murray, Wayzata, STA, Chaska. BSM and Rosemount each had great weekends, and they’re both slowly ...

Re: What's not clicking for Chaska?

All this geography talk has left the chat of the team in question to the side. How did the 5 loss team who lost to Eveleth-Gilbert, Sartell, and Buffalo beat EP, shut out Prior Lake, and give Edina their only loss of the season? Running the table with their schedule seems possible. Are they now the...
