Also heard 8-1 Edina over Tonka

Don’t believe it
I wouldn’t be shocked. Tonka has a battle for their 2nd-4th lines so they probably didn’t play top group. Would guess Luedtke/Docter played sparingly too. Somebody who was there able to confirm score/who played?

Re: AA Preseason Rankings 2018-2019

It is early and as Cub fans said for nearly 100 years hope runs eternal. Chaska has underachieved for a number of years now. Blaine and Eden Prairie are both coming off very sub par years. In my opinion expecting bantams who play year around hockey to show up come Playoffs is no longer a given. I d...

Re: Scrimmage scores

Hill-Murray controlled the scrimmage with Greenway for the 60 minutes. No sustained pressure at all for Greenway. Hill was faster, stronger and had pin point passing. Greenway has a long ways to go to be able to compete with good teams. It’s early in the season but didn’t like what I saw. The goali...

Re: 2018-19 USA TODAY Preseason Boys Hockey Team

He's leading the USHL in scoring. When Mittelstadt did that he was the 8th pick. I'll be very surprised if Donovan falls that far. He's got great size and is an awesome skater. Except he doesn’t have the enormous size of a Riley Tufte at this stage of his career nor the goal scoring ability (albeit...

Re: NLI Signings

Thanks guys. That was my understanding of it as well, but there were a fair number of guys I had expected to play some USHL before college who signed so I wanted to be sure.

NLI Signings

Question: When a player signs their NLI, is this making it official they will be playing for the school the following season (as opposed to a year or two of juniors)? I notice some but not all senior verbal commits have signed and Loheit from Tonka signed yesterday as well. Can anybody shed light on...

Re: AA Preseason Rankings 2018-2019

I think I really agree with Karl’s opinion here and Tony’s on the podcast that too many people are forgetting about Prior Lake in 2AA. I saw them play once last season. It was against Holy Family in Sections. They were completely outclassed in that one. I'll take your word on it. I can't argue that...

I think I really agree with Karl’s opinion here and Tony’s on the podcast that too many people are forgetting about Prior Lake in 2AA. They were the 3 seed last year and while they lost a few guys, none were game changers and they return Jackson Jutting. They probably won’t climb into the top 10 bec...

Re: Early Departures 2018-19

What are the tender rules in NAHL? Is that a tender for next season/later this season? I read it as he’s on the team now, but like I said in OP, I could be reading it wrong. Are they just picking up his rights before somebody else? I’m 99.9% sure the tender relates to Ricky Lyle (playing for them) ...

Re: Early Departures 2018-19

Got it, thanks O-Town. Obviously was assuming the signing meant automatic he was going there instead of DE, hence the big loss. Glad to hear it’s not certain in NAHL like USHL typically is (in USHL a tender counts as your first round draft pick and they have to play a certain number of games that se...

Re: Early Departures 2018-19

Saw today MN Magicians tweeted out that they’ve signed Ricky Lyle to a tender after he joined them for the Alaska road trip. I don’t know how I could be reading that wrong, but this news surprises me. Why would one of the top returners from one of the top 3-4 teams in the state leave so late in the ...

Seems like most are, give or take two or three spots each direction, about in agreement with the preseason rankings. Looking forward to seeing how they all shape up!

Re: Early section by section look at AA

Rochester Century should get some look, cripes, they beat this so called super power in Chaska last year fairly easily. The sophomore class chose to not show up in the playoffs last year, I think they learned from that and the coaching staff did as well. Are you thinking of another team? Rochester ...

Re: Games Friday Nov 23, 2018

Orono traveling up to face EGF is a pretty spicy Class A match up right out of the gate. The defending champs lost quite a bit of scoring punch to graduation, but both squads should be in the mix of teams nipping at Hermantown’s heels. Lost players to graduation and transfer. I know of 3 for sure a...

Kind of off topic, but does anyone know how Gentry academy works? I understand they have a Tier 1 team which they two brothers play on, but will they also be on the high school team or is that meant for less talented kids? Will be tough to tell until games start or even for a season or two, but bas...

Re: Bobby Brink named USHL Player of the Week

Bobby Brink (17) is from Excelsior, MN and grew up playing out of Minnetonka. His youth was spent playing with Minnetonka High and Team Southwest. Not directed at JD, since he is just quoting the article, but saying he grew up playing out of Minnetonka is rich. He grew up playing out of Chaska and ...

Your little tournament will go to Chaska (if they can upset Minnetonka).
I don’t think Chaska over Minnetonka would be an “upset” this year. Tonka a bit down and CC better. That said, I predict OMG AA.

One thing you have to hand it to Holy Family for...they moved up to AA right away, before they were even ready. Right away? They spent their first eight seasons in Class A. Lee In comparison to most private schools, that is right away. Though, perhaps they should have stayed in A and won a couple t...
