Re: Games Tuesday 2-16-21
Final 4-1 EP over BSM , sogs about 35-25 EP controlled play most of game . Took advantage of PP. They had some puck luck too . Batchelder with 2. Hayes came thru with some big saves on quality Bsm opportunities . Marshall buried a nice snipe late in game . Other times , the RK missed the cage too o...

Re: Games 1-19-21 Tuesday
HM 3-1 over Chaska OUCH. According to the Hub, shots were 54-15 HM. Makes you wonder if Hill will score enough against the good teams. Watching most of this game, the shot count doesn’t surprise me as HM held most of the puck possession and zone time, though of those 54 shots only a few seemed like...

Also goalie Jack Stark from Chaska/USHL Chicago (played just 10th grade in 2018-19 I believe) committed to Yale last week.

Re: Early Christmas Present: Boys State Hockey Tournament (Meeting Dec 3rd)
Current word is youth hockey (not speaking for HS) will be back in limited fashion on Dec 19 - no guarantee, but good possibility. Elliott, I sure hope you’re right. But, after cases statewide being in the low to mid 3,000 range the last few days, yesterday’s cases were over 4,400 statewide. And, i...

Kids play organized sports almost 52 weeks a year, and we're worried a four week pause is going to affect their physical and mental health? That's not worth responding to. If anything, kids are over-programmed in the modern world. I'll listen when these same parents file lawsuits (like the #letthem...

Best teams to NOT win a title? Some that come to mind: -'97 Duluth East -'00 Elk River -'05 Moorhead -'12 Duluth East '96 East '00 Elk River '07 New England (oops, wrong sport) Lee It's crazy how everyone forgets to add the 2010 Minnetonka team to these lists. 9 D1 guys who played 4 years of colleg...

Still genuinely waiting for somebody to show me the part of the executive order that specifically closes hockey rinks? Confused how that became the assumption. Or is this a business decision because keeping rinks open with no youth hockey teams would lose money? Again, I may be looking in the wrong...

I heard a rumor (we all know how those can be) that kids that go to Breakaway are still able to be on the ice as it is considered school. I wouldn't know how that would work since indoor facilities are to be closed, but just something that I heard..... I don’t know about the Breakaway part, but whe...

Re: Bridge Season Games
Can we all just agree to remember that all of the bridge league and future summer hockey games don’t have all varsity players and shouldn’t be used to determine how the upcoming season’s teams will be? This will prevent the obligatory minnscout reminder of how many varsity BSM players were missing. ...

Re: "Before and After"
Yes, all three of those scenarios are accurate. This year might have a few less that planned out, but again typically students doing before and after do coordinate with their ADs even if they are unsure if they’re coming back. They do it right so they have a backup plan. I can think of a couple situ...

Re: "Before and After"
Just FYI, most, not all but most, kids who do before and after have already planned it out with their school’s AD. Stipulations aren’t a surprise to those who did.

Good listen! Just one correction: HS rosters are technically finalized Jan 1st, so well after the board mtg. Of course, when talking about cutting players from JV, that obviously happens one week after tryouts.

Still nothing from a certain RW in the SW suburbs with a lethal wrist shot and that’s about it, who was assumed by most of “the bored” to be the next big commit two years ago? And who I was bashed for saying he wouldn’t be?

Yeah , Don’t know what happened with SSM. Would also be interested to know if their bantam team played at Brooklyn Park , have heard that team is absolutely loaded , including Brodie Ziemer Covid. Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
3 isn’t a ton, The ripple effects will be huge. Springfield Blues also announced they are taking the season off. So 3 NAHL & 2 USHL teams for a total of over 100 players not on no-tuition teams. Since HS players are the younger ones it is those kids at risk for not sticking. This is true, but on th...

Re: Early Departures 2020-2021
After two USHL teams declare they are taking the 2020-2021 season off, every other USHL team receives about 3 new players who would have been on a USHL roster this year. 3 isn’t a ton, but could certainly have a trickle effect on some bubble players hoping to make the early jump this year.

Hearing the Lightning Rod program in SW metro has lost at least 2 to Junior’s added an East Coast 12th Grader. Oh the drama! :) EP or Chaska? Didn’t think of Chaska as lightning rod program but I know they’ve lost one or two to juniors this summer and I haven’t yet heard confirmation EP had. Just t...

Re: Top 5 Goaltenders
Yeah they load up because why not? At least one or two practice goalies but then if they want they can give them games in NA3HL or U18 AAA leagues. NAHL has a great history of developing high end goalies but unfortunately they have a long list of goalies who have been buried on the rosters.

Re: Top 5 Goaltenders
With the USHL/NAHL drafts now completed, it seems to be another decent year for MNHS goalies moving on to juniors. Too early to tell on how it'll all shake out, but by my count we have the following (apologies if I missed any): Pinney - tendered to St Cloud of NAHL Hodges - drafted by Austin in NAH...

Re: Podcast
Fun podcast. Great to hear all three of them discuss HS Hockey again. Towards the end when they discussed how USHL is not just a given for many of these high school players, it reminded me of something else. If there is no college hockey season or it is severely diminished, there are theoretically s...

Agree with BB. PL made a heckof a run late last year. Re: 2AA outlook
Minnetonka has the benefit of great depth and a lack of super high end guys that are flight risks. Big question mark is goaltending. PL similar story but with two very high end goalies. EP is the opposite. Lots of potential for guys who are doing before/after to pull a Bobby Brink/Blake McLaughlin a...
