Re: 2022-23 Early Departures

Ohh got it, my apologies, didn't realize that was regarding the younger Fechko. A few updates from before as a couple more rosters have come out. Still not seeing Cedar Rapids, Green Bay and Sioux Falls. USHL: Bentz MH Fargo USHL – on roster Briere. Stillwater . TriCity USHL – on roster Brink MG. Ma...

Final Hermantown 6-1 over Cloquet.
The Hub lists Joey Pierce as being in the lineup. Does anyone know if he actually played last night?
He did not. He dressed for senior night but did not play at all.

Re: 7AA 2020-2021

To me, it is starting to sound like there might be people out there that are interested in seeing more than just one northland team have their season come to an end. Just my opinion. I agree that it's starting to sound like that, not just on the Forum but on other social media outlets too, really? ...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Back to the important stuff, it was a very big week for Zam Plante who was drafted in the 1st round of the 2020 USHL Phase I draft by the Chicago Steel and was also named the YHH Bantam Player of 2020 earlier today! Huge congrats to Zam and I'm looking forward to watching him play for the Hawks in t...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

@Jeffy95 - what is your Hermantown insider saying for Pierce returning to play next year? A year ago you stated that Biondi was likely gone and that it was going to be "...just a brief stop for Pierce" which you unfortunately went 0 for 2 on. So whatever your insider tells you for Pierce, I know I c...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Kniven, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but, I can assure you that not only do most of the high school coaches in the state (A & AA) have an opinion regarding Hermantown, they are definitely concerned with what their continued placement in Class "A" is doing to the state tournament on a macro level ...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Yes, infinitely better. Everyone accepts that player movement is a way of life in AA. You say you are not a fan of players transferring, yet you are a fan of the success Hermantown has had, but this success is based on players transferring. Can you not see the flawed logic in your thought process? ...

Re: People wanting to stay A... about single A teams recruiting

Is this really such a big deal that it requires 10 separate threads every single season? It’s ridiculous. Rant time... I’m willing to bet that for most people this isn’t about giving other small towns a chance. It’s purely about hating the top dog, which right now is Hermantown. I say that because ...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

So punish the communities that want to play in the real tournament? Isn't that a little counter intuitive to what people are wanting here? Jeffy and Rainer's teams will still never go to state. Not to mention DE, Moorhead, and Brainerd will be about the only "Northern" teams left. I guess you could...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Scott Pionk is my hero! I was particularly impressed how much emphasis he puts on the Hawks' dominance hurting small Northland programs, as opposed to just focusing on them being good enough for AA. It's great that he sees the bigger picture. I hope every Hermantown decision maker and parent reads ...

Hawks -- First, thanks for the sincere appreciation of my insight. I actually need to contact Scott about something related to his summer camps tomorrow so, I'll ask him to tell me exactly who the 11 players were so I can feel comfortable mentioning them here. As for my talent identification chops,...

And yes, I do count Tyler as one of those 11 as he didn't start his youth playing career in Hermantown as a Mite 1. Did he "transfer" in the "honorable way" by having his parents actually move into the Hermantown school district? Absolutely. But, the point is, Hermantown gained a very talented play...

I only knew there were 7. This guy knows more about it than any of us and he explains that the stat came from Scott Pionk in a meeting with the AD. First, I'm pretty sure I could name at least 7 or 8 of those kids from that roster but, I won't do so without being 100% sure beforehand. Still, I've k...

Please stop with these empty statements that make it appear as though you're taking the high road in this debate. Your "stance" is that they shouldn't be forced to move up, that staying in single A is their decision, and that the rest of the state shouldn't have any say in that decision? That's not...

It's important to constantly reinforce one fact in this debate. If Hermantown won with Hermantown kids, there would be no calls for them to move up. They would be loved and cheered the same way that EGF was. They've never done that, and that's where the pressure to move up comes from. Last year's S...

This just supports my theory that the Hermantown players just don't get excited to play in the A tourney anymore. These kids played AA all through youth, competed well, and then get demoted to single A where making it to the title game isn't a challenge anymore. I'm still trying to wrap my head aro...

Two week late post: After attending every state tournament game this year, if Coach Andrews does feel it is time to move up to AA (and gets the necessary people to vote this way), I truly hope this year's team is the weakest for many years to come. The gap in size/speed/physical play/overall skill b...

Re: What in the world just happened to the Hermantown Hawks

I am sitting here in my living room trying figure out what I just saw. Did Alexandria simply put together a extra human effort against the Hawks juggernaut or did Hermantowm quit in the 3rd period after falling behind? I just don't think the Hawk players get up for these A tourney games anymore. Th...
