Re: Andover vs Edina

Edina wins by at least 2 goals. Reasons: 1) Andover's goalie played 4 games last season and hasn't started a game since Dec 11. Edina's was winning a state title for the second consecutive season 2) Motivation - Andover won by a goal at home last year 3) home ice 4) Quality of depth. Hornets will co...

Mnnstar,
Lourdes is still a Class A program. Do you want to insert Farmington in 1AA instead?

Re: Class A Preseason Rankings

What's Breck's motivation to move up to AA? To have the MSHSL place them in a section with Blake, B-SM, Edina and Wayzata? I suspect if they did away with sections and had a seeded bracket, Breck would be a lot more inclined to play in the AA tournament.

Wow, talk about gender stereotyping. Isn't that the type of thing we're trying to avoid? Inclusion fits for some things I guess.

Re: Elite league

Is this league truly "elite" if many of the players are no shows ? Does the boys' elite league have this issue? I doubt it. For those of you in the know, what's the difference.

Re: Competitive Section Assignments

Or, they could just seed everyone and be done with all this mess. I think we're all understanding why allowing the section assignments to be run out of a board room in Brooklyn Center isn't the best idea.

Re: State of Hockey's Team

goldy313, perhaps you think Minnesota is not only irreverent but also even IRRELEVANT. With respect to Lucia, he won the two NCAA titles in his third and fourth seasons as coach (2002 and 2003), so he clearly had a lot of "his own guys" by then, particularly, players like Potulny and Vanek (who had ...

Re: Competitive Section Assignments

It looks like the difference is primarily due to opt ups in boys and co-ops on the girls'side. Chaska/Chan, Hopkins/Park and Champlin Park/CR are girls' co-ops that all field AA programs on the boys' side. Additionally, STA, C-E-C, Marshall, Holy Angels and now TG play boys' AA hockey but not girls....

Anything but Minnesota's best. If you look at the box scores you'll see that Dynamo Black played with SIX skaters. Not sure how you get away with that in this day and age.

Re: New State Tournament Format (or my day dream)

Good point, it is also hard to arrange it geographically when 62 of next year's 70 AA hockey teams are within 80 miles of Xcel Arena and probably 57 are within 40 miles. As I said yesterday, the question is what to do with the 8 teams from the north?

Re: New State Tournament Format (or my day dream)

Wow, getting a little raw out there. Must've touched a nerve somewhere. Everything OK out there in Douglas County Zx? How dare anyone use a college tourney to illustrate a point. Didn't see that anywhere on the board by-laws. Make sure all of the other posters get the same memo. BTW, I neither have ...

Re: New State Tournament Format (or my day dream)

Hey, what do you think of the NCAA Men's D1 hockey brackets? Pretty cool that three Minnesota universities are number 1 seeds in their regions. Maybe some folks in New England are pissed off because they feel that these teams should all be in a western bracket, just like it always has been. The same...

No reason for DeLasalle to opt up in boys hoops now. Minnehaha Academy is coming for them. Don't want to look like they're ducking them.

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

Football teams don't sandbag in Texas because they are required to play in their size class. Interesting thought, if Minnesota did that your Class A field might include teams like Grand Rapids, STA, Benilde, Cloquet, Hermantown, Hill-Murray, Holy Family, Roseau, etc. Would eliminate the quality of p...
