What's Kukkonen's injury?
Broken leg. Done until next Fall. Huge loss for the Crimson. Hopefully he bounces back even stronger

D and Goaltending are supposed to be Hornet strength this year?
I didn’t think goaltending was a strength until the state tourney - where it was solid. Up until that point - there was a soft goal almost every game. They can’t afford to get into shootouts this year.

Turkey Trot

MG over Edina 7-5. Soft goaltending both ways. Pretty shootout goal by Kyle Kukkonen.

Wayzata vs Moorhead next.

No Brandon Benson on Blaine roster.

Not welcomed back perhaps (not a shocker if so)? Don’t see him on Sioux Falls Power 18u either.

Re: Jackson Blake

My question is: how was he allowed to play on the bantam team if he came back in January? MN hockey states that you are required to be rostered by 12/31 (NO EXCEPTIONS, per MN hockey handbook). USA Hockey rosters are set after Dec. 31. Like Jackson, my son also joined a team to play from January on...

Re: NLI and early commits

There is no such thing as a NLI at DIII level. Some teams like to make it fun and make it look like a commitment or some parents want their kid to get the same experience as a D1 player… I get that.

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020

As mentioned above, knowledgeable sources have tonite confirmed a change to previous information from last summer: Humphrey and Michaelis have changed their thinking from last summer and will return for the season to Elk River HS. This definitely shakes up the 7AA dynamics, as both should be 50+ po...

Looking at kids who skipped a second year of bantams - off the top of my head (some had a lot of success, some not as much): -Nick Pierre (skipped bantams all together I believe) -Janicke brothers (Both Trevor and Justin played HS after one year of bantams and then both left to the NTDP squad after ...

Louden Hogg (2002 BY) got a temporary call up to the NTDP 17s (2003).

Played against Cedar Rapids. Stopped 19/26 in a 8-4 loss. Justin Janicke with 2 goals. I believe Chaz had a goal as well.

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

The interesting thing is Minnesota doesn't churn out a lot of early commit goalies. There is very few committed goalies that play in it. It's great for exposure - yes - but does it help? I don't know that it does? NHL Draftees http://www.hselitehockey.com/nhl-draft-picks From most recent: Ethan Haid...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020

Does Austen Humphrey or Zach Michealis return to ER (neither made their listed early departure USHL team), and instead both are on NAHL teams? Seems Michaelis notched a goal for the MN Wilderness as did Humphrey for the St Cloud Blizzard. Anyone have better insight?

Re: MN NAHL teams

Austin has the largest fan base. They pack in 1500 a night and/or more. Great blue collar town and home of Spam. Go see them alone to watch Dante Sheriff play. They have the best team in Minnesota more often than not, and this year won’t be any different. St Cloud is formerly Brookings. Typical cell...

Probably 50/50 Athletic/Academic Ivies still do not offer athletic scholarships. Congratulations, Mason. Great opportunity. OTC is correct. However they get a financial aid type package. For example John Farinacci (per his dad) is getting a full ride as is Derek Mullahy, in the form of financial ai...

Was Mason Langenbrunner to EP a well known thing? I didn’t comb all 22 pages, but also didn’t know that. Committed to Harvard today. Lists EP as home. Youngest Mittelstadt congratulated his new teammate. “Can’t wait for the season.”

So there was a mechanism to get an elite player in the game who normally played on another team. Looking forward to two great games! That might be what I w...
