Re: Cathedral vs Greenway

Yup... Public School Champs! With all of the great story lines you waited a day to post that !?!? .... That might be your claim to fame but not these blokes. Why didn't you congratulate GW after the game when they beat one of the "unbeatable teams from the cities" from Mahtomedi? They ran...

Re: Greenway vs Mahtomedi

The Gopher Bar reported that Greenway fans broke the record of beer consumption by drinking 45 cases of beer on Wednesday. I’m guessing a new record might be made today. Lol. I heard that and also heard a lot of "see you at the Gopher". Curious, it's a bit off the beaten path, is there a ...

Re: Greenway vs Mahtomedi

How was this crowd so pro- Greenway? I'd guess that under most opponents, Mahtomedi are the darlings, finally cruising to their first title, as it would be. Sure they're Metro, but they are the prototypical small school the two class format was made for. Has Mahtomedi born the brunt of the crowd li...

Re: Greenway vs Mahtomedi

I think Greenway has the better top 10. They kept their legs in the first game so hopefully they can do it again. With Moorhead and East out, a Greenway/EGF final would salvage the tourney for me. Let's git er done Boys! Thought you already reached your tourney nirvana now that HT has been eliminat...

Hey Goldy, #1 it's his alma mater. #2 if you don't like A hockey, don't go the the boards to discuss it. #3 A guy with the moniker "Goldy Gopher" probably shouldn't talk about a "below average team".... =D> Since he has such love for his alma mater, is he recruiting any of them?...

Re: Class A QF: #5 Delano vs. #4 Greenway

Frank is an absolute gem. Just an idea. . .focus on your D1 team, or satisfy your man crush and go coach Greenway. What purpose does it serve a D1 coach to go on a rambling dissertation about a below average HS hockey team? Hey Goldy, #1 it's his alma mater. #2 if you don't like A hockey, don't go ...

Re: Biondi gone?

He's one hell of a player. Hard to argue against him being the best junior in the state. Like many he had this year, his goal against Greenway was sick. If the offer is still there, it would be hard to turn down the NTDP considering the pedigree of the program. Probably depends on if he'd be willing...

The STUDENT, their skills, their abilities their character, who attend these schools...matter much MORE. ☝️ Absolutely correct, couldn't agree more. Move them or spend the money for private if it makes you feel good, but the kids will determine where they go in life. Parents have changed a lot in t...

Re: Greenway/Hermantown

Hermantown is a great place to live. Kids go to Hermantown because their parents value a small town like school vs East or Denfeld that graduate 600+ kids per yr...We moved here from East Duluth 5.5 yrs ago, not for hockey (neither kid played when we moved, both my play now, so I'm guessing when th...

Re: Duluth East at Andover, Section 7AA Final

East, they are always good and always get favored by the stripes up here in the north. It is just the way it is from peewees up through high school. Probably the biggest reason I dislike that program. There was a questionable "late call" against East that tied the game, it goes both ways....

[/quote] Hermantown Defense NEVER pinch, EVER. Clafton did a great job breaking out high creating multiple (like 15) odd man rushes..why Htown didnt start pinching is beyond me, it would have shut GW down in a lot of ways. Htown always plays the same game...works most of the time but last night, Sta...

Rainer and NWOT The 27 page nightmare Hermantown thread can now be closed ?😆😀 No, the hockey gods had enough of it. Greenway played how they needed to (keep it close, go in spurts when they had a chance, try not to expend too much energy) and HT looked pretty flat. It almost looked like they though...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

I’m beginning to think Bigfoot is not a person, but an actual Bigfoot, who, instead of being wowed by the magic of a cigarette lighter, has discovered, now that his kid is in HS and gets to play small school teams come playoff time, the even more amazing, ego-inflating joy of woofing about his kid’...

He was referring to the outdoor rink in ER where they played HDM😉 But Andover needs the experience of playing at Amsoil Saturday...since DE has most likely been practicing on that ice sheet...the past two weeks 😉🤣 Doesn't look lik...

One site is the MN Hockey web site itself but some districts don't update their links as good or as quick as others. It's a bit clunky but go to the link below and click on the district -> then the league (BAA, BA, BB, PWAA, etc). Link: https://www.minnesotahockey.org/news_article/show/993333 Some a...

Re: Minn Hockey state meeting coming soon

Please don't let the Mayo Clinic study on checking in bantams sway MN Hockey's decision on checking in bantams. This would only move the issues down the road to HS. If the thought was that eliminating checking from peewees was partly due to differing size of kids you would have the same issue if the...

Re: Checking in bantams

I have been a head coach at the A Bantam level and these are just my experiences and two cents on the matter... I have a son that just left Bantams. He was of decent size for Bantams and was fairly rugged, but skated with his head down. He learned the hard way, especially against northern teams. I ...

Re: Checking in bantams

The difference is that at peewees you have kids at vastly different size and skill. At bantams this gets cleaned up a bit because skill and size (with skill) tend to go together (based on the strength of the program and the schedule they play). At peewees it is much more possible to have a a 5'10&qu...

How long does a player need to be with a program to be considered not a transfer, the WI kid has been at Hermantown for 5 years and is now a soph. Who else besides Pierce moved in sooner than that.
