Re: Top 5 Goaltenders
With the USHL/NAHL drafts now completed, it seems to be another decent year for MNHS goalies moving on to juniors. Too early to tell on how it'll all shake out, but by my count we have the following (apologies if I missed any): Pinney - tendered to St Cloud of NAHL Hodges - drafted by Austin in NAH...

Re: Top 5 Goaltenders
Glockner 51st NAHL draft to Amarillo Howe 61st to Jamestown Heard Boynton was selected for ASG at Fargo camp. Any word on if he was selected for roster spot? Glockner selected for ASG at Sioux Falls camp. Not related to the goalie forum but Henkemeyer-Howe absolutely lighting up the lamp at SF camp.

Re: 6AA Final — Edina v BSM
I'm going Edina 6-2 and all the way to finals with a likely repeat over Blaine. The only thing that may hurt the Hornets is inexperienced goaltending. Hogg showed excellent control in both Tonka games, which were arguably the biggest games on the Hornets regular season schedule. If he plays like he ...

Re: Mr. Hockey and Frank Brimsek Award Finalists
Did Glockner steal any games for Minnetonka this year? The team was really solid so I doubt he had to, but I do remember the 3-1 win for Boynton over East where he had some 50 saves. Although competition was inferior for CP in a majority of the games, I think Boynton maintained a plus .900 SP again...

Re: 2AA Final - Eden Prairie vs. Holy Family
I think EP is going to roll right through HF. It won't even be close. Difference between EP and Tonka offense is EP actually has guys who can put it in the back of the net. I wish the Fire luck but just don't see it happening. Especially on the larger sheet of ice.

Some thoughts on goaltending in the context of the Brimsek awards, and whether it's better to be a good goalie on a strong team that plays a tough schedule or one who has to be the star of the team on a team with a weak one: https://apatientcycle.com/2019/02/23/goalie-greatness/ Interesting piece. ...

Re: AA Rankings for 2/17/19 and Section Preview
I hate to say it but if any team at the top looks vulnerable it is Tonka unless they find their full mojo again. 5-2-2 since beating WBL and while that record isn't awful it's a far cry from their first 15 or so games. Additionally (without looking at the stats to confirm) it seems like their speci...

Re: Games Saturday 2/9/19
The packed house at Braemar got its money's worth tonight. Both teams are rock-solid defensively, so it took just one little let-up from Tonka for Edina's third line to slip in that go-ahead tally. Edina's forwards did a better job of carrying play than Tonka's...so much of the Skippers' offense ru...

Re: YHH Podcast for 2/3/18 feat. Mike Vorlicky
If you listen to what you want to listen to, you will hear me say Glock and Frits have no business winning. But the fact remains, i agree that these two are deserving. But what pains me a lot with awards, guys like Mueller, Daninger and Boynton with very similar numbers and a lot less in front of t...

Re: Games Saturday 2-2-19
Pipes, agree with most your thoughts, although Tonka offense not quite as bad as your comment, But definitely, top Tonka strengths are Glockner, First D, and balanced forward lines, in that order Glad to see Bullis perform well in goal in a pressure environment. And EP sophomores have really progre...

3.) Saying Holy Family has some pretty easy games in its schedule to help out Hubers numbers?? I would think that Holy Family and Champlins or even Blaine's schedule to some degree is somewhat similar...(HF and Champlin closer and Blaine has some pretty easy games in there). Here's a question..can ...

Re: YHH Podcast for 2/3/18 feat. Mike Vorlicky
Three takeaways from this Podcast. 1). Agree with 59s comments above. Hornets will not have three nominees. It's BBs to lose. 2.) Brimsek finalists. Terrible reasoning to not give Glockner credit for his numbers this year and talk up Tonka D and compare that to Boynton. Two completely different scen...

Re: Games Saturday 2-2-19
Tonka wins 3-2 in OT over EP. 3rd period was ALL EP. Glockner made 2 unbelievable saves late in the third, one backdoor pad save another 2-0 breakaway. IMO Tonka not clicking offensively. Scoring chances equivalent to a Bantam B2 team. Majority of EP shots are one-timers and in the slot. First few m...

Re: Brainerd vs Duluth East
Spuds up 3-0 on the Hounds after two and doubling them up in shots. Looking like a long bus ride home to Duluth, both literally and figuratively. Wow. Thanks for update. DE shouldn't even be ranked in top 10. Too much inconsistency and not getting the job done. Other teams may have slightly easier ...

Re: Hockey Day in MN
Does anyone know if Andover and Minnetonka have to play both goalies during the game? If so, advantage Huskies! It's not required, but more of a gentleman's agreement between the coaches in HDM games that everyone gets to play. So much for “gentlemen’s agreement”. Hats off to Manney for getting bot...

Re: Top 5 Goaltenders
Boynton and Daninger are the two I would roll with.. Assuming you're referring to the Brimsek...Boynton could be up for discussion, but I have trouble understanding why Daninger should be in the mix as he's had rather a little bit of inconsistency in performance for the tougher opponents in the sch...

Top 5 Goaltenders
As we’re nearly halfway through the second half of the 2018-2019 season, I thought I’d share my thoughts on the top 5 goaltenders in the state. Many who haven’t played the position may miss or underappreciate the technical aspect and other skills of these young netminders, which I use to determine t...

Re: When will Minnetonka's first loss come?
I doubt that you doubt that Chaska makes the section final  OK, Chaska “might” make the section final, but what have they done this season that honestly makes you think they can beat Tonka in a huge pressure game? PS 1 win over Edina does not make a season when you’ve lost to the likes of Sar...

Agree. Curious as to why so many top teams didn't partake in Gold Division. Last year's games and crowds for the Gold Division were pretty solid and similar to past years. Anyone know the reasoning for only 4 teams?
