Re: Goalie Training
Sefan Popa is also a very good camp. He spends 90% of the time on the mental side of what a goalie needs to learn. Positioning, angles, when to go down and when not......

Re: SE metro
I stated I dont have a problem if we're talking about the inner city districts, but I do have a problem with districts that are in good shape. Run properly and dont have travel or other issues. As noted, directors have discussed this and have or will vote again to correct things that are out of whac...

Re: Re: Absolutely
District 10 does allow smaller associations to merge together in order to have A teams. Its up to the associations to get together and organize the program for that year/s. The district oversee's to make sure its run properly/fair to everyone. The problem does not rest with D10, the same problems yo...

Re: The Teams
Teams are picked well before the state tournament. Many teams are asked if they're interested but with spring breaks many will decide they cant get enough kids to go. Also, they look at who will represent the league best, so if a team has had problems on the ice they likely wont get asked. Not sure ...

Re: Positive Ways
One way to improve hockey is like anything else, COMPETITION! Not speaking about competing teams but compete with Mn Hockey for the kids to have options. When someone has a monopoly on something, it generally doesnt have everyones best interest at heart. Just imagine if we didnt have a gas station o...

Re: passshotscore27
Too much emphasis on games at an early age and not enough time spent on learning how to skate, handle the puck and shoot with accuracy! Parents weren't involved 5 years ago like they are today. Give the game back to the kids, coaches and those working in youth hockey trying to make it better.
</p...

Re: re: select 14's
The best idea I can come up with is "Independent evaluators" so you dont have coaches making deals to get their kids who dont belong in the first round. Who would that be? I'm not sure if you could have other sections evaluate or not. Might be difficult to find enough guys outside of HS hockey to do...

Re: re: select 14's
I think we should have selects 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8 & 7.... heck why not 6 also ( I mean Advance ) for all the future stars. In fact I'll run the program. just send me a check for $2,000 as a deposit and we'll have a group of 80 players tryout for the best Mn team ever. They'll be sponsered by Bauer...

Re: state dinner
This is a terrible thing to happen, how could a district even allow something like this. Or does the district even care since its only jr gold? What have they done for the pw or bt A's when hosting state in the past? I know its all about money but the district needs to step up and take the burden of...

Re: St. Olaf wins it
St Olaf is the team to watch the next few years, they also have a good group coming in as freshmen next season. Very young team, but with Joey Martin added to the coaching staff, Goldsworthy's team will be a power house the next 3 seasons.

Re: Opinions and Ideas
Awhile back I posted an idea for small associations to combine and to have district (AA for lack of a better term) teams. As for thinking outside the box, thats ok as long as the right poeple are thinking, but too many with power have implemented bad ideas.

Re: Ideas and opinions.
The idea of breaking apart st cloud in my opinion isnt a good idea. First off they chose to stay in d10 because the competition is much better than the options available. When they can play centenial, blaine, anoka, coon rapids, champlin, elk river vs the smaller associations I think its in their in...

Re: Email the board
Although a board that represents the coaches for all issues not just this one could be a good support system for coaches, I would like to see associations take the responsibilities since this is really their issue in my oppinion. Associations are responsible for most matters like, problem parents/pl...

Re: See no evil?
I personally would have fought in the right situation when someone did something cheap to me, but if we allow fighting then we open ourselves up to lawsuits in this day and age. Nobody wants that problem so its best if we dont allow it and punish severly for it.
A very good friend of mine is a m...

Re: Handshake
Good for them, more tournaments should take that approach, although the tournament director should advise them what and when to do it to avoid confusion, also to make sure everyone understands why the importance to make it work. The more that make it work the better the chances of making the rule ch...

Re: hanshake
Once the buzzer sounds and both teams are coming onto the ice to shake hands, at that point if a fight (not a little pushing) breaks out (real punches) whomever throws a punch should be done for the season. If thats a rule everyone agrees with then I'm in favor of handshakes after the game. If not, ...

Re: AAA
It should have nothing to do with the games you play, yes most kids only want games and your games need to be competitive, but look at everything else the club provides. Do they have quality coaches, balance of practices, do they run clinics for skating and stick handling, how much travel is involve...

Re: Handshake PETITION
I never used the term"good old boys......" not that there isnt some of that. I want to see the handshake at the end of games, I also dont want any problems at that point in the contest either. Determine a solution/penalty for causing a problem and I think you'll be suprised at the support from some ...

Re: Handshake PETITION
I hope you understand by slamming the board about the good old boys club you arent getting off on the right foot. handshake
This has been discussed many times before, thanks to a few idiots a few years back we're paying for it now. I think its time to change the rule, would we accept the responsibility if something happened? What should happen if a fight breaks out during the handshake at the end. Bring this to the MHL w...

Fair play wasnt just put into jr gold, it is also part of bantam, peewee and girls u12, u14. I agree its a joke, many things had been done to clean up all of hockey, this is nothing but a pork project. I'm afraid we're going to be keeping track of these points for quite awhile, in the meantime peopl...
