Greatest Ever Upsets at State

Lee, Are you up for more research? I enjoyed the section upsets topic and data. My choice is a game from way before I had a high school hockey computerized ranking (1996-97?), but.... My vote goes to Rochester John Marshall over Edina for the title in1977. HS version of Miracle on Ice, three years b...

Anyone else having trouble with the stream?

Only getting the commercials.

No live broadcast at all.

Perhaps they have a geographic restriction in place?

I am in Wisconsin.

No, I was wondering if you had a short list of 5 already retired out of hockey, who were either deserving or close to being deserving.. Considering how long it took them to induct Housley, no other Minnesota born players should be holding their breath at this point, but the top 3 retired NHL player...

At 6' 220, Moose would be a good sized hockey player today and 100 years ago he must have had a presence on the ice like Zdeno Chara in our time. QUESTION: Housley is the 3rd person from Minnesota inducted in HHOF as a player....How many others were inducted in the builders category? I know of John ...

Congrats to Phil Housley! He made it look so easy out there on the ice. It is amazing to see that he is only the 3rd Minnesotan in the HHOF. Frank "Moose" Goheen is an interesting Hall of Famer. He never played a game in the NHL but that is largely because he predated it. His playing career started ...

A few facts to consider regarding this topic... • Goligoski is listed as a MI player. Flip him to MN, and we take back the lead. Goligoski is on the Minnesota list: http://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/us-state/nhl-players-born-in-minnesota-2014-15-stats.html Oshie, as mentioned above, is not. Minnesotan...

Sad to see and hear the state of Rochester hockey. It was a great hockey town at one time with Graham Arena absolutely packed for high school games. There were a lot of 2nd generation players, sons of players from the old Rochester Mustangs Semi-Pro team (e.g. Johannson, Reichart, Strobel, Teal, Aik...

By birthplace according to http://www.quanthockey.com/TS/TS_USPlayers.php Michigan was #1 in 2014-15 with 17.2% of the American born NHLers, this is the first year that Michigan has been #1 in this metric since 1970-71 when the grand total of 9 Americans who played in the NHL that season consisted o...

Of those I peeked at, only the Wisconsin Final has decent production value: good cameras, multiple angles. They really should not have shown the wide angle "crowd" shot for that game as it is embarrassing how few people are there. It is tempting to freeze frame and count them, seriously. Only the ch...

That's right. The players feed off the energy of the fans and vice versa. What happens on the ice is fueled by what is happening off of it, it is a big feedback loop of which it is great to be a part.

A little off-season discussion fodder. The atmosphere is unrivaled at the high school level and the AA Tournament should be in the discussion for best hockey atmosphere at any level. Goldy, Thanks for the info. I do agree with your sentiments about football stadiums. Is there a list somewhere of the HS teams we have lost and the years we lost them? How about a list of the number of MSHSL teams for all years? MSHSL doesn't list the attendance in the basketball box scores as they do for hockey. They do list the attendance for past years in their basketball yearbook. The totals have been 60,000 +/- yearly for the past half dozen years. That is for 32 basketball games (vs 22 games in the hockey tournament)....
