Re: I can see your point

Rinkrat, I agree with your opinions. I too feel it's a great opportunity for kids to elevate the level of play. Eventually, the kids do step up and become better players. I've seen this with my own eyes. It is tough for the small assns, to finally cross that line, but once they do they need to try t...

Re: Waiver

In D8, southern MN, it is nearly impossible to waiver to another association. Only when one assn. does not offer a level another assn does such as only having B & C teams when the neigboring assn offers A, B & C levels. Then you must get a waiver from your assn, take it to the other assn's b...

Re: HEP

Thanks Elliott, I think HEP isn't the problem. Many are just frustrated with the fair play point aspect of the HEP program. By the way, I appreciate your input and hope to continue to educate many of us with the knowledge you posess.

Re: PWA Maroon Regional Hockey

Thanks Racer 19. Not sure which is which (1rst or 2nd year), both are small but very good. I think they will each do very well next year!

Re: PWA Maroon Regional Tournament

rochhockey4life, are you sure about the 1rst yr/2nd yr goalie? Only asking because I talked with one of the dads from that team and he said they were both 2nd year peewees. I agree with you that they have really developed as a TEAM, playing as a team and lots of great passing.

Also, the abov...

Re: maroon tourney

dereu, I feel ya all the way. Just because you lost to the #1 ranked team in the state doesn't mean you're not a good team. Great to hear the background of the team - something many kids from the larger associations just wouldn't understand; lower numbers to choose from, parent coaches and yet playi...

Re: fair play points

At least this year the mouth guard call isn't a 10 min penalty. Last year we had 2 (home) refs that called it at least every game. At seasons end we tied points with another team but lost chance to go to districts because tie breaker was the fair play point - too many mouth guard calls! What a rip. ...

Re: PWA Maroon Regional Tournament

Rochester PWA does seem to be doing well. Watching their games over last weekend I was very impressed. Nice to see some good representation from the southern part of the state. Keep up the hard work Roch!

Re: ?

It seems I hear more and more of coaches falling on the ice, getting concussions and some dying. Why is wearing a helmet such a big deal? Would you think of playing hockey without a helmet? There are plenty of times things happen on the ice during practice - at all levels - a kid slides into a coach...

Re: If you have ideas (opinions)

Elliott, please consider what an impact redistricting D8 would have on the southern assns. If travel is an issue, redistricting does not do anything for them - it takes the same amount of time to travel from Rochester to Winona or LaCresent as it does to Rosemount. Quite frankly I think the level of...

Re: no A team but ranked as a B team

Correction: 2 yrs ago (2003-2004) the DC Bantam B team placed 3rd in state, last year they were 2nd in district and made it to regionals. Sorry, time escapes me.

Re: no A team but ranked as a B team

Hockeyfan6, that got me to checking into DC's Bantam stats from last year, as I remember them placing 3rd in state as a Bantam B team - on Stickstats their district record was (2004-2005) 13 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie. Should've had an A team. I've heard comments from other's stating the same. Winona ...

Where's the love hockey school? You have an excellent team, rated top 5 in state...keep in mind DC is a small assn with only 30 or less kids to choose from compared to your 100(s)? Sounds like they have done very well for the season. I just saw they finished 2nd in their district and I've also been ...
