Re: moving to mn

My opinion, based on what you are looking for.

If you are looking for primarily academics there are several private schools in the Twin Cities area ranging from around $4,000 a year to around $17,000 a year. (AHA, Hill-Murray, Cretin, Breck, Blake, St. Thomas, Benilde, Totino) Also, if you ar...

MN High Schools vs. NE Prep Schools

MassMan keep in mind that Blake is ranked between 5-8 in the class A (small school) rankings depending on what poll you are looking at. That would put them, IMO, at about 22-28th overall in the state at this point. Not a "top" MN team this year anyways.

However I do believe, based mostly on c...

STA

In the CSC they are a Pretender. As I said pre-season, Hill wont lose a conference game this year. STA will be battling with Tartan and Mahtomedi (NSP might hang around with these 3 for a while as well) for second in the conference and whoever takes second will do so with about 4 conf. losses.
<b...

WBL Goalies

BearCountry is right, WBL's goalie's are well above average, and their team defense will only make them look better. Stutz was by no means anything special for Centennial 2 years ago but shut out the tournament field (Yes, AHA fans, we know the goal should have counted<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :D --...

Just looking around at the schedule's of top teams, i'd say Duluth East has the toughest, but granted they get to pick and choose all 25 of their games considering they play an independant schedule...

Re: d1 committment

From the little bit I remember of him from last season seeing him a few times, I think he will be a good fit on the small rink at the DECC. And, yes, I believe UMD will be back in the top half of the WCHA within a year or two. Congrats to him

3A

3A is a very good section this year and I think STA is no better than a 50/50 bet to get back to the tourney this year. Now if they do win the section, they will have to go through (most likely) the 8A champion and the 5A champion at state to win it. And playing 3 physical games in 3 days against th...

Re: scouting

Playing HS hockey, if anything, would have hurt their draft status more than it helped it. However since all of them will be going to college and not straight to the NHL (as most players do, especially the Americans) I don't think their chances of actually making it to the NHL would be any different...

OK thanks I wont stay silent for a year if they make the quarterfinals. As an old city fan like yourself I'd also enjoy seeing city teams represented better than they have recently. However I don't see any city teams doing well any time soon. It has to start in the youth programs and those are falli...

Washburn

As a guy who would love to see the St. Paul Johnson's, South St. Paul's, and Mpls. Southwest's of the area rise back to power I would have to say that Washburn has about 10,000-1 odds of making the tournament.

In fact, if they make it past the play in game (game before the quarterfinals) in 3...

Well to answer the actual question here... I'd have to say Cretin is the favorite on paper. They got better throughout the year last year and were pretty young, and I heard they got a pretty good kid that came over from Park-CG.

Tartan wont be blown out by anyone because of Cary Wood in nets...

I agree, covering the whole state should be the most important thing. But the way the TC area is growing the 7 section format might actually help that out more than keeping the 8 we have now.
