Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

And most AD’s are intelligent enough...not to say no to the Gophers HC..especially if they want future Tonka players recruited by the U. End of Story  59, I think you may be pushing the conspiracy needle waaay to the right here. I really don't see anything but a kid who was pulled from his p...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Do we know how many times since #7 was added has the High School league still said NO (even after both AD's signed off on it)? To me, once they added in #7 the flood gates are now wide open....A good number of AD's could care less about hockey and will sign a piece of paper for any family wanting t...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

I have no dog in this fight and have stated I'm okay with him going back... But from a learning the rules standpoint, how is it he's allowed to go back and play if I quote the newspaper article "he will stay with friends and family during the season" Is it as simple as getting both AD's to agree? D...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Have you read the COMPLETE rules surrounding transfer eligibility and the reviews and circumstances they can take into consideration when deciding eligibility? Obviously you haven't if you think that the ONLY protocol for eligibility is a family move. There are cut and dried reasons for eligibility...

Motzko is eligible at SCC https://mobile.twitter.com/YouthHockeyHub/status/1171857002798243843 In the end we all knew this would be the result. But if proper protocol wasn’t followed (a family move out of Tonka SD) it’s a black eye on the hypocrisy associated with MSHSL rules & decisions ☝️ Have yo...

Re: Maple Grove departures

“As an MG guy myself, it is frustrating to see players who could dominate high school leaving year after year and gutting a program that could turn into a perennial powerhouse” Wondering why kids leave MG early is one thing. Making a preposterous statement tourney assertion (as quoted above) is anot...

Re: Maple Grove departures

To me, losing a couple kids to USHL teams (like DE did this year, which BTW, doesn’t happen very often to them) is one thing & losing 4 players to NTDP (over 4 years) including 2 brothers...is another. Kids from your youth program getting NTDP tryouts and/or invites is a BIG feather in your cap (for...

Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?

He has a great record as HC for Edina. Tom Saterdalen and Willard Ikola are considered legends. Like Giles, they led prominent programs to several state titles with great players. Giles should be viewed in the same light. Lee Smith as well. So much fawning about Mike Randolph. Why not Giles? He's c...

Re: Maple Grove departures

What is Maple Grove’s issue? They consistently lose elite players to the NTDP, USHL, NAHL, and now with Brandon Reller signing with the Spokane Chiefs the WHL as well. A big time program like that should be having players wanting to come in instead of leaving for greener pastures. Is there somethin...

Re: YHH Summer HS Hockey Podcast 2019

Questions about business models and the direction of youth sports or parent actions are perfectly fair game, but let's leave the personal attacks out of this. My only other comment on this whole topic is that, if profit margin were all that were driving YHH, this podcast surely would not exist. If ...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Nobody will be able to adequately fill the shoes of #7 when he signs with the Blues come March/April 2020, but OG will hopefully be in that mold when he eventually arrives on campus... Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Thanks for the info Westy. Does that mean Kaiser is going to UMD versus Dubuque USHL right after Andover wins the AA state tourney  Owen Gallatin from NTDP is too young to come in for 20-21, Connor Kelley from NTDP will likely come in 20-21. I think Kaiser will likely play USHL in 20-21 (even...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Gleason setting a good example by not leaving early, and also doing Elite League instead of before and after. Also heard he is coaching kiddos this summer. Gleason is fun to watch. He will also (most likely) be playing a year of Juniors after graduation. Players doing before & after (Biondi in part...

Going to state 6 times in a row, narrowly losing to Rapids in 2016, the eventual State Champion. I don't care if they go 5 and 20 during the regular season, It will ...

True, he should have been eligible, but the AD from Grand Forks wouldn't send a transcript stating he was eligible for varsity sports. Guess the MNSHL didnt want to do anything to help the kid??? Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

Not knowing either AD/Principles at SCC or Tonka but would believe they would ok this. Admin review committee would consider (I am sure there are more): positives: 1. going AA to A 2. leaving high profile program to perhaps a lesser profile 3. going back to where he was prior to father taking a new...

Duluth East is getting Spencer Gudowski from Superior as a senior transfer. https://www.wisconsinprephockey.net/roster_players/26317666?subseason=533920 He was a 3rd liner for Superior last year, plays hard but not much offensive talent. Re: Let’s see some top 10 lists for AA, 2019

Ran into a Bengal dad recently.. thinks they might be considerably below last season. He's concerned about goal-tending (0 starts going into Sr year.), says he heard they are trying out forwards to play D as they are so weak on back side, and thinks loss of Brodzinski puts to much pressure on Riche...

Re: Worst AA/A sections 1-8, 2019

I don't proclaim to be the smartest person in the world but I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see the way it's going after the section realignments this year i.e. Anoka to Section 7AA, Tartan to Single A, etc... Just seems to me that the league wants to go to 3 classes or do the Top 32 t...
