I am confused....do the people in Edina pay more money to play hockey than they do at other schools?

I thought Phil did a much better job the last two days, but the hair on the back comment was a classic! As for the comment after the Hill / Stillwater game I will say that the kid he cursed to stood toe to toe with me, looked me in the eye and told me that yes the comment was made to him. A wee bit ...

We had this conversation last year. The most frustrating part of it is that they won't let the 2nd game students move to the vacated lower level seats of the students from the first game. The reason - according to ushers is that after the first game they "hold" those empty seats for any &q...

What do you think of having 4 refs on ice?

They said this was a trial run to see how it goes. One thing that makes me nervous is that historically refs have written off some of the minor infractions to tournament jitters. I just hope it doesn't change the momentum of the games.

Steffen draws a pretty talented group of kids and my son had a great experience. But keep in mind that these teams are basically on their own for line formations. There were times when only 8 kids would show up and then Steffen would switch it up to a 4 on 4. There is no coach.....only a whistle to ...

Stadler is out with a shoulder injury. Kelly is on dicsiplinary probation. #28 is Kevin Schultze not John Phillippi. Duke Pieper came from Shattuck and made the varsity team, but I don't think he has seen any ice time and I don't know the details. Maybe they swapped him with Schultze. The back up va...

It seems like everything in hockey (and life) these days is geared toward what "might" happen in the future. I am not so sure this is the correct way to live our lives." We start them as mites and skate them 24/7 because they "might" make the varsity team in the future. We s...

Hill-Murray should have a good year, though I personally think that they will be their strongest over the next 2 years. All the kids are extremely talented and they had to cut through a huge number of other talented kids to get to final roster. Casto will be fine and was named Hill's most improved p...

Imissmyhockey, You are right that Shaunessy doesn't exactly fill the net with his body. Last year he was 5'7" and 150 lbs compared to McGinley's 6'1" and 210 lbs. (Flip was 5'9" and 170) Lechner himself was a goalie in high school and college and I don't think he is that tall so maybe...

Roseville made their team selections after just one day of tryouts. They had to cut a few goalies, but everyone else who tried out appeared to make JV or Varsity. They had less than 40 kids trying out. This surprises me because I had always heard they had a very strong youth program.

Hill has their backup senior goalie (McGinnley) from last year and I would guess the talented, but young sophmore from JV. (Shaunessy) My best guess is that Shaunessy will be the primary. But maybe McGinnly has been working hard all summer and will earn the starting spot.

If I am wrong about the score of the Oct 9 game of WB vs team # 5, I will certainly stand corrected. (this is what I get for believing a teenager!) Do you know what the score was?

Hill-Murray beat the Eagan team tonight. I think the score was 8-2. It seems to be a pretty well run league. The buzzer went off every minute for line changes and the ref kept things running smoothly.

In my humble opinion.....stay with bantams unless you are one of the top 5 skaters for the JV team. High school coaches do NOT play every kid equally.
