Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?

High School coaches learn early that you can’t be more than cordial to the parents.

Most have seen the torches and pitchforks at some point.

Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?

Giles will get his dues. Part of the problem is most high school hockey fans despise Edina. That said the former Humboldt Bronco, UMD Bulldog, and North Star is an outstanding coach. He runs a good program, has really good assistant coaches, and the players play hard for him. He also gets to choose ...

Re: New Body Contact Rules

Smart players don’t put themselves in vulnerable positions. Coaches should put a little more practice time into Teaching players this. Especially d-men on retrievals. I like physical hockey, but you don’t always need to put a player through the glass to separate him from the puck. You cut across the...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

Total agreement that young kids should play association hockey when they start to travel. Weekend tournaments build lasting friendships for players and parents.

MM has some great off season camps. My youngest did speed academy as a first year Bantam. You could see the difference.

Re: YHH Summer HS Hockey Podcast 2019

I am not resentful. Just calling out the obvious arrogance of some and the fact that HS hockey is speeding away from community based hockey. Yeah like every thing else in life it’s driven by money. In this case “Daddy’s money”.

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

If my kid is a good hockey player and I have the flexibility to move to Minnesota and work for Target, 3M etc or work from home, I'm going to move to Edina, Wayzata, EP, Maple Grove. If the wife and other siblings and most of all the hockey player impacted are on board, there is nothing wrong with ...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

For every TJ Oshie there are 1,000 plus families out there where things don't work out. The bottom line is like or not, HS hockey is no longer a community sport. It's now a group of all star teams. AAA hockey has had a lot to do with this as friendships are made during the spring and these ideas go...

Shocking that another starry eyed hockey dad with deep pockets would think his kids should be put at the front of the line.

Re: YHH Summer HS Hockey Podcast 2019

Believe it or not a lot of high school hockey fans do not give a rip about the high school elite league. Sad when most hockey associations are now feeder systems to the private schools and that people will move so little Johnny can play in Eden Prairie. Sad that Youth Hockey Hub seems to celebrate ...

WBL’s 2nd line way better than the 1st line. Millard played a great game. Blaine’s top line had all four goals.

Re: AA state tourney seeding

Based on past performance, WB should be unseeded. The Bears are only 51 minutes away from Mariucci, which apparently is their favorite place to play in March. Sounds like sour grapes east side. Lechner can get a jump on recruiting next years group of ringers. Had to laugh at the lady waiting for pe...

Saw the Eagan - Rosemount game as a neutral observer.
It was no fluke. Rosemount could have got a little better goaltending.

Re: White Bear/Andover Saturday

Bears hung around for two periods despite being outshot. Two early 3rd period goals decided it. Andover has more depth at D and better goaltending. Kaiser was outstanding yesterday.

Saw the HM-Edina game Friday at Aldrich but not Saturday
At Braemar. Koepple kept Hill in the game Friday in the when Edina was in control for most of the game. Koepple must have been great Saturday. First time I’ve seen Edina this year. Was impressed with their D-men.

Move St. Thomas to 11. Hill is rated a little high too.
Goalie was the reason they beat Stillwater. Let’s see how they hang with Edina. White Bear had 54 shots against Woodbury. Just some observations from games I’ve attended

Just a pretty lackluster effort from White Bear Lake. A lot of simple plays were just off tonight. Missed passes, a lot of shots missing the net, and tried to make the perfect play a lot instead of getting a good shot on goal. They definitely played nervous, and Hill Murray played a pretty smart an...

It's too bad for some of the Twin Cities sections. They really lack that perfect section final venue. The ideal venue was on the State Fairgrounds at the Lee Warner Rose Colesium before the...

As a fan of a team with a decent history I would be careful about what I post about a team like Hill. They find a way to get it done way more than most. it's not the players that find a way to get it done, it's one of the best coaches in high school hockey. It's tough to say as a white bear fan, bu...

Didnt see what happened at center ice when the kid was ejected so cant comment on that. What I did see was Burnsville have to kill back to back 5 on 3's in the first period and possibly some animus from a certain official towards Burnsville as the game went on. Penalties were 28 minutes to 2. Also t...
