Why didn't Breck ice the puck in the last 4-5 minutes to get a face off? Their best defensemen sat in the box the last 6 minutes of the game? Did anyone else notice that pulling the goalie wasnt even considered at the 1:00 mark when puck was in STA end? Even with 35 seconds it looked like the goali...

the school that prays the hardest, plays the hardest and will come out victorious. I dont see breck losing unless judd peterson pulls a ben hanowski and scores like 8 goals. Plus, Les Larson wont let this team lose this game. Breck probably hopes Peterson pulls a Hanowski and disapears just Hano di...

Forget the Don-- Joe Maturi needs to go. The fundamental attitude in the ath dept needs to change. Eventually the U will realize in all its sports that it is not the only option for MN kids and they will hire some folks that work hard at recruiting quality student athletes that can succeed at the D-...

Josh Koop NEEDS to start in goal for TRF on Friday if they want a chance to win. He's bigger and more consistant. It's probably not going to happen, so Narverud will most likely get yanked after it's 4-0 after one. TRF wouldn't of beaten STA but Koop shutout a hot Hibbing team while Narverud allowe...

I would agree, breck should be 1, but their achilles heal will be the goaltending. Breck returns a huge core of their team that has a lot of success in recent years. Hermantown will be the team to be I think because of how talented they are and how much they have coming back. The big key for these ...

My guess is this conversation will get more heated over the next few years. Providence is rapidly growing a program under Tearse and St Paul Academy is beginning to get going with their new coach. Blake and Breck will be challenged in their conference and in the near future by Providence in the sect...

How could the goalie for Breck get a shutout the morning after he couldn't stop a beachball the night before? Even St Thomas didn't shut out New Ulm.

In watching the New Ulm/St Thomas game it was clear that depth is the big difference between the metro and outstate class A teams.

I wasn't at the game but I wouldn't be surprised if he kicked someone out. I have heard from several insiders over there that the past two years, the kids ran the program and the coach was busy promoting that he was the program saviour. They also said at one point the guy put up a sign in the arena ...

5-2 final. I happened to see both of Breck's games. The goalie let in four softies against Hill and three more against East. If they don't get that situation worked out, Breck won't even win the weak conference they are in let alone get by the second round of sectionals.

I don't know if Breck is "really good" but it is clear they are better than the rest of this really bad conference. I didn't see the Saints game with Breck but I bet it was really over within the first few minutes and all that was left was to see how often the fourth line would play and sc...

Conference strength and state tournament

As we get into January and teams start playing more conference games, I notice some teams in very weak conferences are going up in some people's estimations. Other teams with stronger hockey conferences have their strength questioned. My own opinion would be that the stronger the conference, the bet...

In the past Breck Arena had easily the best--giant bag, great quality, inexpensive. This year I was there once and it was memorable for the popcorn--small bag, half-filled, enough salt to make an ocean out of Lake Mille Lac, same price as before. Other food-- the chili at Aldrich is the best arena f...

I agree with Blake. I also don't think Centennial is where most people thought they would be and they have been close to a one-man show so far. While I thought Stillwater wouldn't be very good, the game I saw would suggest they be heading toward new lows.

I am with Papa Burgandy, the Breck team has Wally's last recruiting class and all the juniors have been playing (and hyped) since their freshman year. I saw them play Mahtomedi, it was scary bad. The defence is not good, the power play is straight from squirts, and the coach seems to be a deer in th...

From what I saw it looks like a long year for the Bears. At times it looked so slow and ragtag it was tough to watch. Also watched the Breck/Marshall game. Breck will win the conference hands down. The juniors are Wally's last recruiting class, aren't they? They will have to get over their own egos or start playing the game with 5 pucks at a time. Breck

I heard from one of the dads, this is the end of Breck hockey as we know it. The dad said he has been claiming to have ...

"Great" may be a bit overstated. The game I saw them play suggested "good" in two years. Admittedly, it was the one game but I didn't see anyone I thought should be thinking about jumping to the Juniors before the end of their senior year. I am told that Blake handled them pretty...

I saw part of the Breck/Mahtomedi game and it looks like Breck has a ways to go. They are weak on defense and that translated to not getting the puck out of the zone. A couple of their D seem to be afraid of taking any hit whatsoever, even from smaller guys. They have some forwards that can really s...
