Re: Hill-Murray vs St. Thomas Academy - Semi-Final Friday

Aitken needs to stay hot for the Cadets to pull of the upset. Hill-Murray matches up very well against St. Thomas. If they meet Saturday, I think Hill-Murray matches up very favorably to Blake...who they beat 7-1 early in the season. 0/U 4.5 goals - if it goes over, Pioneers probably won. Cadets de...

Re: Out State Recruitment -- STA this year and going forward

I did delete, however it is public information. You can have those feelings and that is fine. You don't believe the should be a level playing field? Ineligible athletes should be allowed to play any sport? I am wondering your train of thought. I respect all opinions. How about full disclosure yours...

How have these teams faired in bantams and peewees over the last few years?

Re: Hill-Murray vs St. Thomas Academy - Semi-Final Friday

As an STAA fan I did not want to see HM in the semis.

The Pioneers looked explosive tonight and Lechner will have them ready to play.

Aitken needs to stay hot for the Cadets to pull of the upset.

Re: Andover St. Thomas Academy

Thanks Oldtimer...Andover was my quasi team this year (having been birthed by the Tornadoes in the early 2000’s) and they’ve had a good season. Making it to AA State was a critical 1st Big accomplishment for their program. NW is right on. I hadn't seen them play before tonight either. They were as ...

Cooperalls are a "No" for me.

Some good chances for both teams though - should be a barnburner in the 3rd.

Re: 3AA Final

Happy for Trent Eigner in his first season at the helm. The search process after the Vannellis stepped down was a contentious one, the Eigner hire drew some criticism, but he's a game away from being back in the big show with a Cadets squad that lost a lot coming off their STAte appearance last year...

Re: state championships

If we include prep/Catholic/independent school championships I'm pretty sure STAA would have 7. In terms of counting 'top class' titles I would like to see the Academy win at least 2 AA ships before lopping that bigger and older number in with the new banners. Selfishly wish MSHSL would go to a one-...

Re: Worst AA/A sections 1-8, 2019

I don't proclaim to be the smartest person in the world but I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to see the way it's going after the section realignments this year i.e. Anoka to Section 7AA, Tartan to Single A, etc... Just seems to me that the league wants to go to 3 classes or do the Top 32 t...

Re: 2019-2020 Coaching Changes List

I assume this is the Jake Taylor who has been an assistant there. From the outside this is a good hire, he has been pretty involved in the coaching for a few years. Has the potential to be a decent coach once JE's kids are gone from the program. Until then, as an employee of one of the many Enebak ...

Plenty of drama so stay tuned for the ugly details as they come out over the next few weeks. AD quit over the deal (ordeal). Actual top candidate turned it down. Not sure TE was even in the initial interview process. What a mess.
Bob Slater quit over a hockey coach search?

I've heard that Mike Guentzel will be the new coach of the STA hockey team.
Update on this as the whispers I heard were incorrect - Lakeville North's Trent Eigner will take the trip up 35 to Mendota Heights.

I don't know how everyone else feels but the older college hockey gets, the less I'm interested in it I switched my preference from the NHL to college many years ago. But if I'm going to be watching a bunch of 21-25 year olds, I'll probably just switch back to the NHL I certainly hope college coach...

Re: 16 Subsection Model

I'd really love a "Sweet Sixteen" format for the state tournament. Wouldn't mind a David and Goliath set up for the round of 16 games either - match the teams up and then the lower enrollment gets to pick the ice sheet to play on (not their home rink). Imagine the intrigue of the Hornets going up to...

Nasty game with some raw emotions - Edina was the better team all year and proved it tonight.

Good season for the boys from STAA - fought hard until the end and will have the chance for some hardware tomorrow, just not the kind they were hoping for.
