Re: 6AA/2AA Section Final Coverage
One more thing on this - do the rules say that they have to reset the game clock back to the time of the goal? Did they reset it? My dad and I were talking and weren’t sure whether or not they did. I am not sure what the rules were, but clock was down around 7:00 when play stopped. After calling th...

Re: 6AA/2AA Section Final Coverage
The goal light came on for a split second and then was turned off (literally on for maybe a second). Ref on ice in right corner waived no goal. I was at the far blue line watching so didn't have an angle to see if in or not....it made a very loud "tink" and shot out quickly...I thought cro...

Re: The Day I Met Mr. Hockey
Thanks all for the comments. For some reason through about age 25, I seemed to find myself always in Forrest Gump type moments. Figured this is the year to start storytelling some of those moments. I hope this brought back great memories for old timers here that grew up at their local park.

Re: Association not allowing privates on top teams
So, just as a hypothetical: If a Stillwater bantam freshman is asked by the Stillwater HS coaching staff, after the bantam season has already started, to skate captains' practices and tryout for the HS team (let's even say with the stated expectation that the kid would likely play mostly JV but get...

Re: Association not allowing privates on top teams
Whether private or public, associations shouldn't be used as a two month training camp for kids planning on leaving. It messes up team and association chemistry (as this not only messes up the AA/A team, but any other teams that lose players to fill the holes left by the leaving players. To prevent ...

2002-2003 High School Players Needed for 2019 17U Bandy World Championships
Hey high school hockey fans, We are looking for approximately five 2002/2003 birth year high school hockey players to fill out our 17U USA National Team for the 2019 Bandy World Championships. Bandy, or Russian Hockey, is played on a rink the size of a soccer field and 11 vs 11 like soccer. (Note - ...

VMIA To Shut Down
Victory Memorial Ice Arena will be shutting down this summer...a victim of the refridgeration changes that are required by rinks to use modern, less ozone eating, coolants. The rink was owned by the Minneapolis School Board and with budget tightening, the rink had to go. While the building and locke...

Scites was at BSM before he left for AAA, then simply returned, but was on the outside looking in, so went to find hockey elsewhere. It's as easy as moving, which they were willing to do. This has nothing to do with BSM bending or breaking any rules, it's the same for everyone. And...we don't alway...

Actually BoDangles....about 40% of the signs that were put out this year were East of 35W. I haven't looked at this year's zip code data from registration, but my guess is about 30% of our players come from east of 35W, or waive in from the north side of town. Our association is pretty unique. We w...

About a decade ago, Minneapolis made recruiting the cornerstone for our program. Attracting and retaining mites would have a substantial amount of money put towards the recruiting effort. We have been the fastest growing association in the state going from around 400 to about 750. Because our Park B...

I think it is Michael Graham - Patrick's younger brother - unless Patrick has come out of retirement as he was a solid defender on the BSM state champ team from a few years ago.minnscout wrote:Patrick Graham committed to UMD last evening! Congrats!

Have to say the whole decision seems odd from the outside. I am sure there were some reasons...but, the before/after was somewhat of a no-brainer ---> didn't harm MN Youth hockey, would keep kids in Minnesota high schools and thus playing for the State Tourney, provide exposure for kids who for one ...

Re: Tier 1 Winter Hockey has no place in Minnesota
Froggy, Your post is somewhat deceptive....stating that Tier I will be allowed by MN Hockey and it will decimate community hockey...so call the MN Hockey Board. Here is what I understand is going on: Duluth Wings and MN Blades are requesting to skate BEFORE & AFTER the high school season for 18U...

SCBL, agreed. We were the wrong target to throw under a bus for an article as we are what a succesful co-op should produce (more hockey players, players playing at their appropriate skill level, teams that compete at all levels, happy kids, and happy parents). I also agree that the author has some g...

Let's Play Hockey Article - In defense of Minneapolis Hockey
Just saw this recent article from Let's Play Hockey ripping on Minneapolis Youth Hockey. The author of the article clearly didn't do much research and clearly does not understand the challenges in building a hockey program that provides opportunities for the recreational player and the elite player....

Re: Open enrollment happening at the youth hockey level

AA spots are held for kids that live in the community Do hockey board members have a responsibility to ...
