section 8AA up for grabs

Of course its up for grabs. Why even play the game if the "favorite" is going to win everytime? Last year the Spuds were favored to win the Whole Enchilada, but fell short. Prior to that the "unfavored" Rams, going arguably against the best Spud team ever, almost knocked them off...

Re: top 10

Rankings are for the Fans. They do not take into account rivalries or injured players during games. They produce discussion and emotion, but just that. The winners are proven on the ice. I like the rankings, but keep them in perspective.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.sho...

Moorhead will continue to be very good the next few years. Roseau has closed the gap and is getting back to being a "REAL" contender and not just #2 behind Moorhead.

Next year, Roseau could get the #1 seed, depending how the Spuds/ Rams series goes.

#1 vs unranked

Roseau not only has to knock off the #1 seed in the section, but arguably the #1 team in the state. For an unranked team to pull off the upset, would be remarkable to say the least. If both teams play to their potential, then the Spuds win! If the Spuds leave anything at home the Rams have a chance,...

Re: Moorhead Transfers

Before open enrollment coaches and communities recognized talent from other teams. If there was a "missing link" from Indus, coaches from the area would specifically drop the name of the player to scouts and advise them to go see this kid in Indus, or anywhere else.

College coaches...

Re: Moorhead Transfers

Before open enrollment, that is exactly what the "good" players had to do, stay home and play with "inferior" players. Didn't seem to hurt too many careers back then!

Those that think there is always next year are really misinformed. Whether you are a sophomore, junior or senior, missing on an opportunity to play for your "home" team in the state tournament and probably winning it, does not come every year.
Open enrollment is here, no denying that. ...

rankings

As we are all fans, rankings as I have mentioned in past years, is just to "spike" interest in us fans. Bragging rights so to speak. Is one ranking more reliable than another? I believe so, and I feel the respective teams ranked deserve to be in their positions.

That being said, ra...

When all the discussion about breaking up the Best High School Tournament in the Nation, one of the most sensible ideas that came up, but did not gather any momentum was to have schools play off as usual and take the section winner and the runner-up to the state tourney.
Section winners would pl...

Against common sense!

Petey made the point as clear as possible. The only ones who feel this is "against the grain" are those who seem to have to justify the A/Tier II/B tournament as a championship tournament. It is, at best, a tournament of 2-3 very good teams that could possibly be the best teams in the stat...

Fun/not fun

I believe I grew up in the "golden years" of hockey. We had no squirt or peewee program. I did not "have" to go to the area for a 6:00 a.m. practice. I did not "have" to travel 100 miles on weekends to play in tournaments and get roughly 15 minutes of ice time for each ...

My 2 cents. Rams were runner-up in '57, champs in '58,'59, undefeated in 60, but lost in semis of section, champs in '61.
