Re: ‘The Weight of Gold’ Is a Wake-up Call for Olympics Fans

I've complained about this before, but I don't expect it will ever change. If you play sports, or ride bicycles, or you just slip and fall down, wherever that may be, there is a risk of suffering some kind of injury. So is it logical that you stay home and hide out in your basement, for fear of risk...

Re: Transfers 2020-21

It will be interesting to see what the MSHSL makes of transfers due to online learning. Can they punish a kid for going from a district that will only have online learning to a school that has in person school? I've been wondering the same thing myself, especially for the younger kids who need a pa...

As a 30+ year state ticket holder John Marshall and Roseau are the two clear crowd favorites, at the 90% range. Grand Rapids comes in just behind those two. Then you have Lakeville North, people actually cheering for Edina.....

Re: Covid Masks while Playing?

My son is doing a youth summer camp at a city run arena this year. Right now, they have to wear a mask going into the building, inside the locker room while getting dressed, and then it can come off when they are ready to put their helmet on. Once they are off the ice, the mask goes on when they ar...

The further south you go, the less dependable the weather that's cold enough to produce good quality (natural) ice.

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

How can you not see it as a political thing? For 55 straight days there have been riots in Portland which in many ways break Oregon law. But businesses can’t open. Everyday we run school age childcare at our school, run by para’s, not teachers. Come September when there is no teachers teaching, the...

Re: Transfers 2020-21

Would be very disappointing for all these long distance transfers if the high school hockey season were to be cancelled.
(not likely, IMO, but it still could happen)

The boys sure do. Here's a bunch coming up on the 17th and 18th:

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

It's also really annoying that a national mask requirement on March 10 until now would have done wonders to control this virus. Unbelievably annoying that we couldn't even come together for this, and now we're potentially going to lose another 6-9 months of sports / bars / restaurants / entertainme...

From today's Star Tribune:

"Sami Bowlby, who will be a junior forward for Burnsville High School, has committed to Quinnipiac, according to the Youth Hockey Hub. She had 19 goals last season, helping the Blaze reach the Class 2A state tournament."

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

The opening of the boys' winter hockey season follows the girls' season by two weeks. Should the MSHSL cancel the girls season I cannot see them not doing the same for the boys. That would create an uproar and charges of discrimination, favoritism, etc. Something to keep an eye on.

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

The fact that the worst case scenarios have not yet played out are because of what we have all done the past 80 days, not because we all got crazy. For all that we've done to stay apart, the fact we've had 1.7 million infections and 100,000 dead in 80 days should cause us all to be horrified. It sh...

The insta and twitter follows are good...maybe encourage her to post some workout footage or stick handling or shooting if she can dazzle. I've been following girls and women's hockey for quite a few years now, and over that time it's become obvious to me that the No. 1 skill that separates the mat...

Re: Quarantined training...what are people doing with no rinks open?!?

I don't understand why all rinks are shut down. Dedicated players like those referenced here could certainly find ways to work on their skating while following appropriate social distancing. Just no crowded locker rooms, no standing in line right next to one another waiting for your turn in the dril...
