I don't want to diminish the feat because it is quite impressive but most top ranked teams would have taken the first line off the ice against a weak team after the first or second goal. Have to disagree with you here. I don't think there is any way you can forecast that a player will come back and...

Re: Girls moving onto Private High School Hockey

Private School Girls Hockey Does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach a Private School Coach on the prospects of our daughter playing HS Hockey in their program. We're a yr or 2 out. You go to a "academic recruiting visit" at most. If your daughter is / was on the radar of the private coa...

Cease and desist. Polls naming individual players should be taken off the forum. These awards are not popularity contests. Voting on a forum is. Happy to have discussion about the positive merits of players nominated. Its an honor to be chosen. This type of polling takes away from the honor. This i...

For the first few weeks of the year I like the LPH poll. Then around Christmas the numbers start to get more real and I like the weighted numbers better.

It always seems that the longer the season goes the sillier LPH gets after the top five in each class.

Ha - I didn't say they are right - it just seems to be what they do. You'll see some bad hockey in the MIAC and NCHA but you will also see some of the best DIII in the country - GA, St. Thomas, Superior, River Falls, Point and even Eau Claire - They (listed) are also the ones that don't over recruit...

Just because you don't play for a "proven" high school program, whatever that is defined as, doesn't mean you don't have potential to be a great college player. Woodbury plays in the SEC which is one of the toughest conferences in the state if not the toughest. They recently graduated one of the be...

If I recall - many schools in the MIAC and NCHA don't make an official announcement until fall when the kids are actually on campus. As fans we usually have to wait for local newspaper articles or a posting on Beyond the Dashers to see who is planning on going where. After Junior Fest you'll hear a ...

Cuts at DIII

I only have first hand experience with my daughters team and last year they cut four skaters (all were walk ons) but also in my experience the coach will be very upfront with you regarding making the team, cuts, kids coming in at the same positions (if they know). So when you visit the schools don't...

Can't speak for last year but....

The year before there was pretty much a college coach from all the major D1 and every DIII school there. It's pretty much worth attending just to listen to the talk before the first practice.

It centers on recruiting, responding to coaches, hard work, fun - you name it.

It is certainly worth it.

I think that giving the credit to the coach is not completely correct I do not think it is the coach is the one who has the final say and usually is just the fall guy or gal. most of the time the coaches hands are tied and is AD , the board or many others including the MSHSL that has the say. Yes, ...
