Great night cap for the Thursday night games here. The Pioneers may have handled Duluth earlier in the year while they played in the Christmas tournament, but this one will surely be a closer game with lots of energy going both ways. Key to the game will be for Hill-Murray to continue to use the gre...

A great way to start the tournament off, I must say. I was really proud of how the H-M boys charged back after a rough 2-0 first period to start the game. As the game advanced, it seemed as though H-M settled down and began to gain some confidence that might have been lost a tad in the first period....

It's pretty obvious that on paper Eden Prairie is expected to win this game. However, stranger things have happened in state tournament play. No matter the team, "upsets" are bound to happen on a yearly basis. Hill-Murray is considered the underdog come Thursday morning and they'll hopefully use thi...

Just got back from the game. First off, my hats off to the Hill-Murray Pioneers for overcoming adversity after losing some top players and playing their way to the state tournament for a fourth straight time. The team got drastically younger and more inexperienced as the second half of the season be...

Sounds like a great win for the Pioneers!!! I'm glad they rebounded from last Tuesday's tough result. Good luck to the Pioneers the rest of the way, build on this victory!

Nailed it, and I'm glad the H-M squad put together a nice win. Hopefully they can build on this for the rest of conference play and into sections!

It'll be a close contest. Hill should be past the regrouping stage by this point (or at least very close to it). I see the Pioneers squeaking one out.

I hope you're right hockeyhockeyhockey! Unfortunate that the boys lost the lead in the third and eventually the game in OT. Hopefully the Pioneer squad is able to adjust from any mistakes they may have made and learn from them. Best of luck to the guys as they continue to advance through the 2nd hal...

Good luck to the Pioneers, this will be a nice test for them tonight. Now is the time to start stringing wins together so that a hot streak can be used in entering sectional play which starts in about a month. I hope the guys have made the adjustment and know their roles. They all need to be leaders...

Unfortunately missed the game but sounds like it must have been a pretty good one. Having a shot advantage doesn't tell everything but it sure gives an idea as to how the game was.

Not sure what kind of interest Zepeda has gotten yet. He'll definitely need at least a year in juniors to prove he can make the big jump. His speed and talent should be enough, it's just a matter of handling the toughness aspect of the game.

Considering this was H-M's first game without the four players, the Pioneers seem to have played a decent game on the road. People need to remember that the line combinations are entirely new, which means it may take some time for them to "gel". Sure, the Pioneers may have lost some solid talent off...

Agree with your post PPG. In this case I truly feel bad for the players who are losing out on some of their quality teammmates. But like PPG, there comes other opportunities for players chomping at the bit to log more minutes or even just play varsity hockey. I believe also that adversity in many ca...

stpaul, I'm also curious. I want to believe your reason that "he wanted to be star" and play on a higher line but I can't just assume it. Like you said, it's probably business that shouldn't involve people like ourselves. Either way, it's a bit of a shock although I don't see it affecting the streng...

Great win for the H-M boys early on this season. Couldn't make the game since I'm at school, but the rents made it so I heard pretty good detail about the game. First and foremost, it sounds as though Tim Shaughnessy is (or at least could be) something special in the years to come. With all due resp...

Size definitely has advantage but lets not forget Joe Phillippi is no monster himself. In fact former Pioneer goalie James Fangel ('04) started out at about 5 feet even as a freshman and graduated from the Pioneers with All-State honorable mention honors and a near knock off of Centennial's 2004 "Dr...

While it'll be tough to cope with the losses of Flip, Furne, Cecka, Dolan, and Sova, the Pioneers have a strong chance in defending their section 4AA title. Issac Kohls should produce Dan Cecka type numbers and play along Tyler Zepeda and Nick Widing. Paul Prescott and Jeff Westerhaus could become s...

Well for the Pioneers in state:

Bo Dolan, Tyler Zepeda, and really the entire defensive unit. The two sophomores (Jordan Johnson and Chris Casto) played exceptional.
