Re: Will Curt Giles ever get his due?

He has a great record as HC for Edina. Tom Saterdalen and Willard Ikola are considered legends. Like Giles, they led prominent programs to several state titles with great players. Giles should be viewed in the same light. Lee Smith as well. So much fawning about Mike Randolph. Why not Giles? He's c...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

I would agree on Andover/Rapids in the 7AA final. AndoverEast in Semi and Rapids/CEC in the other. Of course I would like CEC heading to state, but I do think it’s unlikely. Could it happen? Absolutely !!! NEVER write of Randolph at East. As long as he is coach the Hounds are always in the top mix....

Re: YHH Summer HS Hockey Podcast 2019

I think YHH has done decent job of showcasing the game of hockey here in Minnesota. I am not a big fan of singling out squirt aged best type players in the state (pee wee as well). That time will come at bantam and HS levels as the kids mature their game. Would prefer to see YHH follow the players ...

Re: Moving to Minnesota for HS Hockey

For every TJ Oshie there are 1,000 plus families out there where things don't work out. The bottom line is like or not, HS hockey is no longer a community sport . It's now a group of all star teams. AAA hockey has had a lot to do with this as friendships are made during the spring and these ideas g...

Why on earth would you want C-E-C to down grade there Schedule #-o , to win at the AA level you have to challenge your team week after week playing small single A school’s does not do that and often times you play down to that level of play. RIGHT ON!!! =D> 2016-2017 6-0 against the Lake. Get'r don...

I hope they all arrive and they fall flat on their face. That's a gross # of transfers for a school with that high of an enrollment.

Re: Worst AA/A sections 1-8, 2019

Owatonna was the largest school in the Big Nine for a number of years after Rochester Century opened, they are now behind all three Rochester schools and will fall behind Northfield fairly soon.....to be fair some of that has to do with the way the MSHSL counts enrollment. Owatonna is a football sc...

Re: Worst AA/A sections 1-8, 2019

4 of the bottom 11 AA teams in terms of enrollment and 5 of the bottom 13 reside in 1AA. Only Northfield of those 5 is growing in terms of MSHSL enrollment. Rochester will be lucky to field 3 public school varsity teams in 10 years. Much like Minneapolis, St. Paul, and St. Cloud the middle class is...

Sartell would be a nice addition.

Throw EGF in because of the quality of their program and 8AA

I am all in for that set up [-o<

Forgot about that last second goal -my bad Anyway if it’s not East, and Rapids can make it to the final that would be probably the only way it would happen. I have the feeling Andover would choke again in OT Yea, CEC would have a very slim chance of beating Andover. East and Rapids would have a muc...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020

I am expecting a break out Senior season from Clafton at Grand Rapids.
He is capable, having 45 save win over CEC as sophomore on a 6-18 team.
This is his year to make a good run with a young but deepest (in 3 years) team playing in front of him.
Expect good things for the young man.

Whatever happened to these Minnesota goalies?

Isaiah DiLaura - Lakeville South
Ryan Ullan - Hibbing
Keegan Karki - SCC

Ullan and Karki were out at USNP but I lost count on if they are still playing.

I threw up some HS-centric thoughts on UMD over the weekend: https://apatientcycle.com/2019/04/15/doggedness/ I made a mention of the Hermantown-UMD connection there, which is obvious. Looking back at recent rosters, the only real front-line D-I players over the past decade from Hermantown who didn...

You've just taken away the incentive for a kid not Div. I committed upon completion of HS to even try to get there. I fail to see what is so evil about a kid 18-20 staying focused on hockey. They've got a lifetime ahead to work and may very well stay out of trouble. I see what you are saying but it...
