Summer skill camps and teams

Does anyone have recommendations for skill camps and teams for a high school age girl who wants to greatly improve her skills over the spring and summer? She wouldn't qualify for elite teams. She lives in central MN.

I've seen Grogan play. Have you watched Justice? She's amazing! She's a stands on her head to make a save goalie.

I agree with hansonbrother, I also think the boys high school game has become too physical. Alexandria has a large group of "Super Fans" that started many years ago watching the girls play hockey. It was started by one man who bragged up how good the team was and how much fun it was to wat...

Respectfully DISAGREE.

Anyone who watched Alexandria play in the 2008 State tournament will remember their goaltender who is now playing at Gustavus.

Re: Frozen 4

You can pre-purchase tickets for the Women's D3 tournament - $20/adult for an all sessions pass. Seniors and students are $10. If you can only attend Friday or Saturday it's $10/adult and $5 Seniors/students. http://gustavustickets.universitytickets.com/user_pages/category.asp?id=40 You'll need to l...

Interesting that Alexandria is considered the underdog by most. Other than the obvious on-ice talent, I think it may have been forgotten that this year's Seniors, and a few others, were part of the 2008 State Championship team and the advantage that has. They won't be as nervous and awestruck as the...

I think most players would rather play in the shadow of class AA than moving the tournament outstate where there would be much less fans. I agree with the first half of this statement, but not the second. You'd be surprised at how many fans fill outstate venues. People who live outside of the metro...

Yes, it was at Ridder before the move to the Excel. The move was driven by lawsuits filed by some hockey parents. Don't know for sure but heard that the plaintiffs kids never made it to State so it is kind of an interesting twist. Ridder was a great venue since it was packed to the rafters. I took ...

I don't believe any site has all the individual stats but the MGHCA is the most complete and accurate as it is done by the coaches. http://mghca.com/test/index.php Another good site: http://www.minnesota-scores.net/teams.php?yid=0809&sport=110 ____________________________________________________...

All-State and All-State honorable mention awards were issued today at the Lets Play Hockey Banquet. It was an unbelievably talented junior class. Does anyone know where or if this list gets published? If my short term memory loss wasn't so bad I would start the list myself :? It will be in Let's Pl...

Re: Put in the survey

Hey Pond make sure to put in the survey how it felt to see all of the empty seats. That would be a bummer for them and they probably would frown. Granted the locker rooms are great and the score board is cool and it is something that they can tell their children someday but would it be bad if somed...

ad nauseum

Why not move the girls tourney to the Metrodome? If they want empty seats, we can give them a hell of a lot of empty seats. I have attended the girls tourney at Ridder and genuinely felt excited watching the game. However, watching a girls regular season game at the local arena with 50 parents bein...

Re: Ridder is the place

Ridder was built for womens hockey...Girls should play where teams at their genders highest level play and that is Ridder Arena. Girls in Minnesota should want to grow up and want to play their college hockey there. Worst case scenario they could play there as visitors. The atmosphere was outstandi...

Just throwing this out there for discussion - could the lower attendance be due to unequal teams playing each other? A lot of the scores this year didn't indicate exciting hockey.

Btw, last year when our team played at the Big Tourney we had 5 full fan buses organized by the parents.

It must have been frustrating for Sartel the first two periods when Alex could do no wrong. Everything went our way. But there is no excuse nor will ther ever be for the way Sartel played in the third period. The Hanson brothers film was a comedy act not a coaching tool. To watch his boys play like ...

Warroad ekes out a 12-0 win over hapless Hutchinson in Game 1, so all 21 contestants pick up a point. nuetralregroup came closest on the score, having predicted 9-0. It sounds like the second game is much more interesting, with Fergus Falls holding a 2-1 lead after two periods. It was a little surp...
