when are you all gonna learn. MSP highscholl is not the hotbed to the NHL. AAA midget teams would kill our 22 game varsity best teams. If you did not get a chance to watch the nhl channel and the merioal cup, you would learn that these kids who go away home 15 GIVE YOUR SON A NO CHANCE. Nick Leddy ...

Having attended the all the holiday classic games, I would say that Edina outplayed Grand Rapids and just didnt really get anything to show for it. I also think that EP played a little better than Edina but it was very close. All in all, if I were Edina, I would chalk the GR loss up to bad luck and ...

What's even more disgusting is that some coaches allow these tactics to work. I have met some really good people through hockey, in fact the vast majority of the people I have met I have nothing but respect for. But every association has a few clowns. Well, I made the mistake last spring of actuall...

Not Saturday. But Friday had a very pretty assist to Ambroz I heard. Lets see thats currently more points than every freshmen forward UMTC brought in except Halua. Oh yeah and thier all draft picks and played two games. I guess he did ok. How did your kid do this weekend. Pretty sure Holl had a goa...

Not to validate the article and argument, but Kleinendorst has been one of Grand Rapids best players the last few years and Scott Kleinendorst played in the NHL, so I don't think their complaints are just about getting yelled at or at all about playing time. Scott's brother Kurt is currently an AHL ...

The jury can't still be out. If the people doing the voting could wait to see what type of players these kids turn out to be it would be easy. AA will always get the nod over A, and the Gardiner/Ness is a toss up. Ness had great years of HS hockey. Thats what it's about. It's not who goes farther a...

I'll bet there's twice as many better than the guys on this list you have never heard of. These are pointless discussions. Someone asks who the top players are for this age and another offers up an informed opinion. Your, probably uninformed, response is that better players are out there and he jus...

The answer is Tonka has D-1 status or potential at all three roles: goalie, defense and forward which is what makes them so dangerous. Everyone in the state knows about the Defense and should know it about the goalie. The underclassmen forwards have been the best kept secret until lately... Their t...

Re: biggest surprises
Biggest surprises (in no particular order): Edina - strong consistent play without the fab 5 EP - not scoring as many goals as last year. Leddy was way better than everyone thought (expept the Wild) AHA - inconsistent team. Overranked. Tonka - remaining undefeated at this point with a really tough ...

This is an old topic... Breakdown wrote an article and ran a poll on this already with several hundred weighing in. Winner with 32% was Tonka's first line Frawley, Gardiner, and Schutt and second was STA's with Isaackson, Krieger, Crandall... Well, my intial thought was the Gardiner-Coatta line, bu...

Tonka is not a deeper team than Edina, they are more talented. Hornets rotate four fairly even lines, especially the top 3. Hard to be deeper than that. I'd say it's pretty even. Tonka has 9 players with 9 or more points and 13 players with at least a goal. Edina has 9 players with 7 or more points...

It is very legitimite to say a game that either team could have won, but Tonka found a way and they deserve credit. A few points: Tonka is not a deeper team than Edina, they are more talented. Hornets rotate four fairly even lines, especially the top 3. Hard to be deeper than that. The biggest missi...

St Thomas and Breck should be in the second tier... 1) This is a AA tier system. 2) St. Thomas and Breck are not as good as Edina, EP or Blaine. St. Thomas has 2 three goal losses to Tonka and one to Blaine and frankly is not that impressive if you compare them to top AA teams. Breck is in the same...

HSHockeywatcher, I feel like you take the antagonistic side of every argument... WB6162, you started by making valid points but now are just becoming belligerent. Hockey is not not a mainstream sport because of violence, more because if you don't have cold winters, you don't have ice and thus don't ...

Some of the best players don't hit, but many do and sometimes poke checks aren't as effective because a check also takes the other guys of the play. Lots of good players hit. From the NHL dow Look at Alex Ovechkin, Malkin, Thornton, Corey Parry, Ryan Getzlaf, Jarome Iginla, Dustin Penner, Phaneuf, C...

No one ever wants to see a kid get hurt but checks are not only to seperate someone from the puck, they are also to intimidate. If you don't think so, you are kidding yourself and if you don't like it, don't play. Even clean hits aren't appreciated by the receiver, so they do serve a purpose. Why wo...
