From what I saw on Saturday, Tonka ran into the flu bug and played their two games down 3 of their top 6 forwards. Hung tough with St Cloud and had the lead against Andover until about 5 minutes left. Just ran out of gas with 12 skaters.

What's going on in Orono? I just heard that the high school coach was let go after the game on Saturday.

What I've seen done is play 5v5 with the player who is going to be the last defensive player back into the zone hanging in the neutral zone. It then becomes a 5 on-4 situation. When the puck goes in the other end the reverse happens, the last player back into the dzone hangs in the neutral zone.

Good points LEPD. Offensively and defensively facing the puck mean different things. Defensively, you need to be in a position to see both the puck and the player/area you are covering. Offensively, it's opening yours elf up to the puckcarrier. What does the puckcarrier need from me? As Wayne Gretzk...

Him/Her-Me-Net in defensive sitautions. Player has to go through me to get to the net. Even in loose puck scrums want to be on defensive side of the puck.

Yes, always follow your pass as a general rule. If for example a defenseman carries the puck around the net and makes a breakout pass to the wing. He should continue up inside the dot and become either an option for that wing or to be in a defensive position in case the puck gets turned over. Too ma...

It's about playing with good habits. These should be developed at the squirt age and reinforced through each level. Always face the puck. Always skate to open ice when you get the puck. Always follow your pass. Always follow your shot. Always try to create 2 on 1's. Always move the puck to a player ...

Per D3 refs at scrimmage last week, they've been given a directive from above to enforce more of the checking from behind. This includes all areas of the ice, just not along the boards. Even a stick to the back in front of the net is a checking from behind.

I'm not a WBL guy but unless D2 is going to go with seperate leagues for AA & A I can understand the thinking. Some of the first year Bantams going up against some of the bigger 2nd year players don't stand a chance. You could be talking about player 1 against player 30 from the association, if ...

Blue beat Crimson 2-1 last night. Having seen both teams to date, I would say that Blue has a leg up at this time. But they have also been together as a team a couple weeks longer then MG. Edina White beat Blue but then got pounded last weekend by MG.

Edina takes the title 7-0 over Mtka. Two goals in the first minute of the game on defensive lapses by Mtka put them behind the eight ball and they couldn't recover.
