Re: covid and MH

Duluthguy: Thanks for the note. You used the term "youth" sports. Does youth include HS? Blueblood: Thanks for the question. Good catch. I simply cut and pasted the info from the Blois Olson blog. But as others have since pointed out, this change is intended to include high schools. I should have c...

Re: covid and MH

Twitter and other sources are flying with details of tonight's announcement by the Governor. Since the pandemic started, info like this seems to have been leaked and has generally been proven to be true. Blois Olson's blog is saying what most are, in short: "At 6PM tonight, in a statewide address Go...

Re: MSHSL Oct 1st Meeting (Boys Hockey Season Fate)

Any 218’ers think this decision will lead to players open enrolling to Cloquet, Marshall, Hermantown or other schools in the northland? Anything’s possible. I’d also wonder what Prictor, Hermantown, and Marshall will do. The COVID rates are the same there, but My hunch is they’re less likely to pau...

The Duluth district has paused all activities/athletics through December 13th due to a “sharp rise” in local COVID rates.

Re: Best PageStat Era Class AA Champions

All time record was 1982 Edina? This seems to be correct. There was a thread on this, with the most recent post in 2015: http://www.ushsho.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=33047 Toward the end of the thread, a list was compiled by Westy (which is probably why his memory is so good on this!): 15 - 19...

Re: MSHSL Oct 1st Meeting (Boys Hockey Season Fate)

Regarding virus trends, a question. If a school is 100% distance learning, does that mean its athletes cannot take part in extracurricular activities? Here in Duluth, the East and Denfeld High Schools are 100% distance learning and the extracurriculars are ongoing. Soccer teams are playing (250 in ...

Marginally off topic, but I have been attempting to recall the members of the Lake Conference divisions during the North/South and Blue/Red days, and it seems like this knowledge has been lost to Father Time. In particular, the North and South almost certainly are imbalanced. Here is what I have fr...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

Crazy: I am happy for Alberta, but I think you miss my point. Minnesota doesn't have any laws laying out the guidelines. Nor do most of these states or Providences. They are executive orders. The one state that has legally challenged the authority of the Governor, Wisconsin, is completely open beca...

Re: Edina 2010's All-Decade Team

Good list. Only change I think I'd make is having Connor Girard over Willie Benjamin. That's totally just a nitpick though. Interesting thing about Edina is when is the last time they've produced a goalie? Matt Bertram? Steve Carroll? Larry Thayer? We're going back 40-50 years at this point. That d...

Looks like it hit the cross-bar...............were there more angles than those we saw in the clips above? I think that was the only angle they provided. I realize the initial post in this topic referenced the past ten years, but we've now delved into "all-time," and I'm surprised no one has mentioned Rochester John Marshall in 1977. That year--before seeding--the top four teams in the state were in Thursday's evening bracket: Mounds View, Grand Rapi...

Re: 7AA FINALS

I don’t see how anyone could/should be criticized by not driving 2+ hours each way on a school night and I would guess if it was the other way around (two northern teams having to travel the same distance to play in the metro) the attendance would be far smaller as well. This is a difference in the...

Hockey is already metro centric as is all the sports, that is where the population resides. Where are your big hockey numbers coming from with no industr...

Interesting Reason for leaving is that goalies who stay in MNHS recently are on a fast road to nowhere (not saying that's right) or another reason? It’s been brought up a lot in recent topics - but name a 2000 birth year goalie and up (01/02/03) that stayed in high school and has committed to play ...

Per MSHSL website - Two Harbors added.
Two Harbors doesn't have its own program. It Co-ops with Silver Bay to form North Shore, which is already on the list.

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

Also, blaming the MSHSL has some merit but but the League gives far too much leeway to the coaches associations. A small minority of coaches, largely from 7A schools, pushed the 2 class hockey through. People from NE Minnesota complaining irk me. Their coaches put the 2 class system as we know it i...
