The author has his primary point backwards. By co-oping more kids are skating at the appropriate level and the teams have more success. This benefits recruiting as community members hear the teams are doing well as opposed to hearing stories of shrinking and poor performing teams which ultimately ca...

If you have the numbers, would it be possible to have multiple JVs? I think the better idea is to have a junior gold B team and if numbers grow have two junior gold B teams. They would stay with youth hockey as junior gold teams are sponsored by youth associations. It is youth association revenue s...

Merge the youth programs too. Worked well and has helped with growth in Minneapolis. These small programs (I know Highland is pretty good size) all fighting and scrapping with player, money and volunteer shortages can all be solved with merger. Maybe mite teams can stay at home but then merge at Squ...

I think they should. Start planning now for next season. Be the St. Paul Blades like the girls. More kids skating at the appropriate level. A solid varsity team, a complete JV team and in the future, based on numbers, a Jr. Gold B team. I think they can retain more St. Paul players with a single dec...

My drastic changes comment was involving them getting more than 2 teams. I think they will have to expand to how it was 5 years ago with Minneapolis west and east but there will need to be drastic changes if they want to have teams for each school is what I was trying to say above. I don't think tw...

Watch for Minneapolis to become very strong in 3-4 years as recruiting efforts that began a decade ago begin feeding the high school program. Thanks SWPrez! The best hockey association President ever. I read the other post that mentioned you've grown the youth association from 150 to over 700 in th...

Minneapolis Storm Squirt A finishing 2nd in Fargo.

This is only the 2nd or 3rd time they've ever been to the tournament and a few years ago a top 20 finish would have been considered a success. Incredible result.

He's a 95 senior but can't get a spot in the Elite League cuz there's 20 players from EP, STA and Benilde. Not one player from Minneapolis. The Elite League is a total joke organizationally with their crooked player placement. 9th graders that haven't even played HS hockey get spots instead of deser...

I've heard that Johnson HS and Como HS teams will merge next year and have a single team. The high school merger becomes the only solution. The youth merger was probably difficult for the Johnson historians. Highland Park has a team so that will make two teams in St. Paul next season. Minneapolis ha...

These "Mearths" need to step down. Step down? They should both be in jail. One for the crime and the other for being an accessory. Are you suggesting they're still involved with D2 decisions? When D2 rewrites their rules and procedures maybe include, "any criminal charges against a m...

I guess what I was trying to say is the member associations of the District are the leaders. This has happened to some associations o...

In fact it was said that it is because nobody from FL goes to the D2 meetings Because Districts are run by their member associations, and District leadership is voted in by association members, it's very important that each association has a District Rep and that they do attend every monthly meetin...

Quite the unfortunate story. A case of the fox minding the hen house. Hopefully some significant jail time for the offender. Not much dirtier than stealing from youth sports organizations. Most Districts audit their books every year or two and should get a regular treasurer report at every monthly m...

Other than some very poor reffing Minneapolis beats Holy Family last year so they're not that good either.

Minneapolis is called Minneapolis. Not MSP, not Minneapolis-Park, but just Minneapolis.

Their top PeeWee and Bantam teams are A not AA.

One thing that aided the former successful Minneapolis-St. Louis Park co-op was changing the name to the Mpls-Park Storm and not using the names, colors or uniforms of either program. The River Heights bantam co-op with South St. Paul and Inver Grove Heights did the same. I'll guess one of the argum...
